Default Sandi's new way of life!

Hello
I figure if I am open to my self, I have to own up to my self!
I need to lose weight, I want to lose weight.
I have been on a steady gain sense my husband died in 94 and my mother in 98.
I turned to food for comfort and what ever comfort I got from food, was short lived, but the fat lives on.

I have tried Atkins and lost 40 pounds, but for what ever reason, I went off it,
One cheat at a time, till there was no diet left.

I have some things going on in the near future and I need to get a hold of my life and get it back. Im tired of being worried if I will fit in some chair, or have excuses ready for something I am afraid or unable to do cause I am fat.

In the near future (Sept) I might not have enough money to live on.
My husband died in 94, leaving me with 3 kids, 2 were babies
and I have been living on widows pension, thinking it was good for the kids to have me home and all. They have learning problems and needed extra help and other stuff. So we did without and all.
Now I find out that they take away my money when youngest is 16 and only told me a month ago, I didnt know that and now I am so screwed. (Youngest will still get it)
I dont think I can survive on that a month, I am not healthy enough to work right now, and I dont even have nice clothes. Another stupid choice I made, I should have been looking and working towards the future.

We want to see if we can make it for 2 years here, so my youngest can grad. from this HS.
We were/are planning to move right after he grad. in 2011

My oldest Jeff is moving to Nebraska next month.
We are very close, and I was planning on him being around to help with the move.
I am living in my moms house (she died in 98) and she never threw stuff away, so we have alot of memories to go thru and all.

It is a long story, he is moving in with a girl he knows and wants to get married.
I feel he is running from working 2 jobs and wants it to be easier. I just hope it will be ok for him. But I will miss him, cause I know I wont see him much. And when He gets married and has babies, I dont think I will be there.

So knowing my past history, of eating, I want to get a grip NOW and not gain any more! I want to lose weight so I can get a job, I want to lose weight so I can have some life, I am 53 years old and I am not getting any younger

I share my life with
Jeff, 27 for now
Jess, 18
Jace, 16
My sister, Denise

I will be logging in my weight and hers to keep track
Jace is also on it, but he refuses to tell me what he weights.

AUGUST 1st we started Atkins and gluten free and cheat free
Sandi 355.9
Denise 394.8
Jace???????

Well last night I had to go get Jess, he works at BBB and closes, so that means around 12:30 or 1 am.
Jeff called me and says he slit his finger open, He wanted me to see if, in case he needed to go to the er. Thank Goodness, its just a bad cut.
This am, I was about to start making b/fast and Jeff calls me and says he was in a car accident.
Thank God he wasn't hurt but his 10 year, over 100,00 miles car is more or less totaled.
But I spent the day waiting for the tow truck and stuff like that.
But I was doing the diet, abet not great choices, I had 2 quarter pounders (b/fast and lunch) minus the bun and for supper 2 turkey burgers. I didnt have much else.

Tomorrow should be better, wait, no, Jeff will learn if he can fix his car, lol

So slowly I am changing the way I am thinking of food

Hi Sandi! Just popping in to say hello! I hope everything works out for you.

I've noticed you aren't eating much in the way of vegetables. You HAVE to eat vegetables. Check out our recipes here. There are lots of them to help get the veggies in.

Friday, August 14 09

Last night, youngest wanted to go for a drive to talk. I do that so everyone has "alone" time with me. So he wanted to get something to eat, he is doing atkins too. So we decided on sharing a Arbys Large Roast beef, minus the bread.
This morning, I woke up to such pain, I dont know what it had in it, but it set off my Fibro like you wouldnt beleive.
So most of the say I have spent running to the bathroom, as I am trying to flush stuff out.
I am in all spasms and and in pain.

with that being said
B/fast 3 eggs
lunch large salad with chicken and bacon on it

supper pork chops and string beans

Have to go out in 2 completly different directions to get Jess and Jace In about a hour.
Maybe it will help

Hey Sandi,
Just found your journal! I agree w/ Barb about the veggies, but I am always tempted to just eat meat and chicken because it's easier and I lose weight a little faster if I skip them. I'll be your veggie accountability partner! lol. I had stocked up of some frozen veggies because they were on sale-- my son loves mixed veggies, with or without the lima beans. I was getting pretty good about picking out the minute carrot cubes to put on his plate lol! This week I've been grilling, so I have just thrown everything on the grill. Even celery is pretty good grilled, but you notice the strings more it seems! There's a fancy gourmet/local foods market here which I can't afford to shop, but I went there looking for Kefir. I found great prices there on locally grown veggies, both organic and non. Crook necked squash and zuchinni were 88 cents a pound as opposed to the " 1.99 on sale" at the supermarket. Going to the farmers market in the morning to see what they have. I know you're on a really tight budget,,maybe looking for local produce would help?
Celiac disease = no gluten, right? How do veggies affect you? I will trade recipes or ???
We'll just keep encouraging each other.
So proud of you and all your family for working to lose weight. You will feel so much better-- and it is ABSOLUTELY TIME for you to spend some time doing something really good for yourself. Praying for you all, dear!

Do you put a lot of raw veggies on your salads? That's a very good way to get the veggies in. I also make my own salad dressings. That way I know what's in them. I use sour cream as a base for creamy dressings and LC ketchup as a base for my own "French Dressing" and raspberry vinegar as a base for a Raspberry Vinaigrette. I use the Good Seasons cruet for measuring the ingredients. It makes it quite easy. I also use a stick blender or my Bullet to puree it and mix it well. Right now while veggies are in season, you can get a lot of them quite cheaply.

Sandi I'm so sorry you aren't feeling well. Perhaps you are detoxing? I know when people detox, they feel really rotten. Hang in there and drink a LOT of water. I sure hope you feel better too!

Tuesday, 18th
Today is a better day, pain wise
the pain/muscle pill is really helping now
Just wish the pinched nerve would go away lol

Today we had lunch at a hamburger place Jess wanted to try.
It was fresh Hamburgers and all on plain, was good. I tossed the bun
but he ordered cajun fries, the smell was wonderful.
so I just took a little nibble, just enough to get a taste, it wasnt as good as it smelled
But it set off a craving.
So no more even nibbles, unless I want to fight the crave!!!!!!!

Its been really hot here today, no engery to do what needs to be done.

b/f buttered eggs
lunch the burger
supper stir fry with lots of veggies

Dont really want to eat, just drink!

Out all day seems I spend most of the day in the car,
right now that sounds good, as its air conditioned lol

But I had 2 small ice coffees today as well as fast food burgers,
no buns, just the meat, I know its allowed but I dont like depending on it to eat, like i have
I will be up late tonight waiting for my son to call and get him,
Long hot day

Thursday, 20th
Still so hot, just sitting here I am dripping.

I have so much I want to do, but it is too hot
My mouth taste bad, I expected it but I dont like it.
But I am not popping stuff in my mouth to get rid of the taste this time around.
Grin and bear it, I wonder if I have bad breath??

Its been a annoying week, Jess works till closing all week and closing is anywhere from 11PM till 1. He doesnt drive, so I have to get him, which for the most part I dont mind, I do however, mind that he is bad at giving me what time to pick him up. So he will say come get me in a half hour. I take my time going out, I dont rush and I still end up waiting a hour or so,
I dont want to risk him standing outside in the dark at midnight waiting for me.
So I sit and watch the sprinklers go on and wash my car and then go off.

Its really too hot to cook much less eat
but here
3 scrambled eggs
salad with some chicken
4 hot dogs (shared with my dogs) and string beans in butter

and a ton of water
