Just got really hungry...don't quite know why and decided to eat a boiled egg sliced on Pepperidge Farm deli 7 grain flat bread (19 carbs - 5 grams of fiber = 14 carbs net) with mayo.

It was pretty good...I should be asleep by now but am thinking about my mom.

Oh...not that I count calories, but the bread is 100 calories and has no high-frutose corn syrup.

Hey Sandi, that snack was good but it gave me heartburn. Probably 'cause I laid down on it and tried to sleep.

Anyway, today I ate:

B - Nothing (compensating for the late night snack)
L - Chinese cart - broccoli and chicken soup again (no noodles no rice) and egg roll this time (pretty much full of cabbage and a few shrimp. Most websites I checked said it wa around 20-25 carbs.)
D -Whiting fish, shrimp, and string beans

I'm going to get my mom from the hospital she's coming home. YEAH!!!

Mom is home and snug as a bug in a rug. She is doing very well and I very happy about. (Thanks for the well wishes Sandi!) Today was a busy day because I worked a little over half a day and then went to bring mom home. I had a lot of work to do for a before I left work for the day and I only got a chance to eat a boiled egg and some cream cheese with Splenda by 2 pm.

Went to the supermarket for my mom and picked myself up some pork rinds and ate a few before they got stuck in my throat and I had nothing to drink so I stopped eating them. Then, when I got home around 5 pm I threw some turkey breast and American cheese on a 1/2 slice of Pepperidge Farm flat bread (7 carbs) with mayo. It was good and I may have another before the night is out.

Tomorrow I restart school: 8 am -5:30 pm, 2 classes....all day Saturday. Sometimes I feel like this grad school thing was a mistake 'cause I love to sleep late on Saturday's but here I am again another semester. Hope there are some nice folks in the classes because last semester was a challenge. They put us in groups for the entire semester and there is always someone who doesn't hold up their end of the bargain for group projects. I managed to survive it all so I guess I will again this time.

Sunday is weigh-in day and I hope I lost something...even it is is a 1/2 pound. I don't think I've been eating enough. As Barb told me, your body will apparently store fat when you don't eat enough because it doesn't know when it will be fed again.

I need to pack some LC snacks for school tomorrow. They feed us Breakfast and Lunch as part of tuition and they usually have something LC legal that I can eat so I should be cool if I just bring some snacks.

Going to bed early tonight so I get up on time for class tomorrow so I'd better decide soon if I'm eating anything else tonight....

Hi P.i.P. just stopping by. I agree with Barb you are not eating enough. I really encourage you to try to get more veggies into your meals. I remember from my past success that eating lots of colorful veggies was key. The proteins and fat keep you from being hungry and the veggies provide the healthy nutrients.

That being said with the stress of your mom's condition this week and your hectic business and school schedule, don't be upset when the scale doesn't go in the right direction. I have found stress to be one of the worst things for preventing weight loss. Take care and hope you find a way to de-stress this weekend.

Hi Sandi,
Thanks for the well wishes! I am so tired having just got in from 6:30 am this morning. I am getting my graduate degree in Organizational Dynamics at the University of Pennsylvania. I am majoring in Project, Portfolio and Program management. Being in school all day today was like being at work. I couldn't wait to leave. Being out of school all summer, I haven't had to get up this early on a Saturday since May.

Hi Libby,
I think you are right...I am not eating enough and especially not enough veggies.I stopped at the market after school and bought a spaghetti squash, an eggplant and some cabbage. These are some of my favorite veggies. I love string beans, broccoli and kale too but what they had at the market didn't look too fresh.

I bought some almonds the other day and wonder if its too soon for me to start eating nuts. But. I promised myself I'd only eat a serving at a time(about 15-20 nuts) and not the whole jar, which is so easy for me to do.

Dang, I just realized I forgot to get lettuce and cherry tomatoes for lunch next week so I guess I gotta go back tomorrow to get them. I planned on staying in to cook the veggies I bought and start on my homework assignments but if I don't go back and get the lettuce and tomatoes I will be eating off of the Chinese cart all week and I don't want to do that.

I just couldn't wait until tomorrow to weigh myself and so I stepped on the scale when I got home and saw that I now weigh 151.5 lbs!!!! I am up by 1.5 lbs and don't really know why unless it is what Barb said about the not eating. I am bummed! Perhaps as Libby said, it was the stress of my mom being ill this week. I dunno.

As I look back over what I ate this week I know I was really good so can't imagine the weight gain is based on what I ate.
Today I had:
B - 1 scrambled egg with cheddar cheese and 2 sausages
Snack - 15 almonds
L - a small salad with 1 slice of roast beef, 1 slice of turkey and 1 slice of American cheese with a little raspberry vinaigrette.
D- Pepperidge Farm deli flat wheat bread sandwich with turkey breast, American cheese, mayo and mustard.

These are the times when I say to myself, why bother...you can't lose weight no matter what you do...:-( I hope my attitude changes. I even walked today, all over campus, so I finally got some exercise.

I will stay on the LC wagon, pick up the veggie intake and just hope the scale moves back down next week...I may have to go back on the Atkins fat fast to lose the additional 1.5 lbs I gained.

HI Phat,
Please dont stop the diet, it is worth it in the end.
Sometimes the scale cant decide what it should do, thats why its different each day. Also are you on Atkins diet - induction?
because you are eating stuff thats not on Atkins at least for now.
More veggies and water.
hugs

Hi Sandi,

I finished Induction over a week or so but may need to go back on it.

Yesterday I was beat and didn't feel like logging into the computer. What I ate yesterday was the same thing 3 x's: eggplant with beef sausage, mozzarella, provolone and asiago cheese with LC tomato sauce. Ate only this all day out of laziness.Making the eggplant dish was so labor intensivee I didn't feel like making anything else.

Today, I had a small salad with baby romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes, turkey and American cheese with LC Italian dressing. Ate no breakfast as I had to take mom to the doctor's this morning and didn't get to work until almost 11:00 am so had the salad for lunch.

For dinner I had all-you -can-eat steamed blue crabs with out the french fries or coleslaw.

I am still tired from the weekend and didn't feel like cooking. Tomorrow is another day...

Seems as though after finishing Induction I'm not losing any weight so I've decided to go back on it for a bit. First, I want to finish my eggplant lasagna-type dish so I ate the rest of it today for both lunch and dinner. Breakfast was a boiled egg. Drank some green tea today but no water...I've just gotta get a grip on the water drinking and make it a part of my day...think I'll have some bbq pork rinds for a snack tonight and drink some water with them as I have to drink something or they'll make me choke..

I have a vacation coming in December and it would be nice to be about 5-10 lbs down by then.

P.i.P I personally did not do a 20 gram induction when I restarted this LCWOL. I have been pretty much trying to do 35-45 grams. Some days I have more some days I have less.

If you go by Dr. Atkins it is not officially a stall until you haven't lost anything for 4 weeks. I've lost between 9 and 10 pounds over the last 3 week period so I am not yet concerned about the scale sticking a little at 175. I actually expected this to happen based on the first time I started Atkins. Don't be hard on yourself either 5-6 pounds lost is almost 25% of your planned total to lose. That's how I am looking at my loss. I needed to lose 40 pounds and I am 1/4 of the way there. I am hoping to be at 148-150 by Christmas.

Based on some of the things I saw you posted as part of your menu you may need to examine more closely what you are eating. 1st suggestion is dump the bread you are eating. It may be lower carb but you should be getting the bulk of your carbs from veggies and not wasting it on empty nutrition like bread, it is also you may be sensitive to wheat and other grains. #2 if you are not using Fitday yet I really recommend it so you see what you are eating and are you eating enough. I know Atkins says to ignore calories but sometimes they can be too low (although many people way overdo the suggestion to eat liberally of protein and fat.)

As for exercise. The more the better. I find it is better to do several short workouts throughout the day seems to keep my metabolism humming a little better.

Today I ate:

B - 2 tablespoons of cream cheese and 1 Splenda
L - salad with baby Romain lettuce, turkey and cheese with LC italian dressing
D - 3 baked chicken wings and cabbage

Tomorrow I meet with a personal trainer for a consultation. Hope to get motivated to exercise. Hate to pay someone to help get me moving but I am getting kinda desperate and sick of what a couch potato I am becoming.. He is located right around the corner from my job and I'm thinking if I go there right after work, before I go home and get relaxed, maybe I'll really work out instead of telling myself that I will when I get home.
