Hello everyone,
I just started another horrific semester of college and have little to no time to do a work out. I drive an 2 and 1/2 hours round trip to school, 5 days a week. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas or suggestions on what you all do to get exercise into your day. This is not just for students, working people also have a busy schedual too! Please, I need all the insight that I can get.

Thank You!

Ashley

Hi Ashley!
It has been several decades since I was in college but I sure understand the problem. I have recently gotten serious about working out and am struggling to set aside time consistently. I

Ideally I would like to work out in the AM before the day officially starts but it is just not possible. I have a kennel. When I get up my dog HAS to go out. When my dog goes out the rest of the dogs wake up and if I don't get them out right away.......well, you can probably figure out the consequences of that.
By then the day is well under way and - no workout.

I have found a couple of time slots during the day. One just before lunch and one after the PM feeding and our own dinner that is pretty quiet. I get in 20 - 40 min each time. It seems to be the best I can do. Now if I can just turn it into a habit.

Thank you for the advise. I do have a hard time also with the morning. I have roommates and if I wake up too early it makes for a cranky situation.
Never fun.
Yeah, it is so hard making it a habit. I usually go for like a day or two then I will stop.

Hi, Ashley - I bet afer that 2 1/2 hour drive you're ready to get some exercise! When I was in college I was working on losing weight, too, and found that choosing not to find the closest possible parking space, taking stairs (maybe going up to the third floor then back down if my class was on a second floor), and even taking the long way between classes was a great way to sneak in some exercise. You don't need to block out a 30-minute workout time to get more activity into your days. A few extra steps at a time adds up to make a difference. What about your lunch break? Is there time for a 10 or 15-minute walk then? And if the campus has a pool with "open" hours that you can fit into your schedule, that's an extra bonus!

Good luck with school and your weight loss!
