I agree, Jen. I like being able to hold the position longer than she does in the video.

Gia, my DH got started with the book and I think he liked it just fine. I had already bought the tapes off of Ebay so we used them to help make sure we were doing the positions right.

If you can't find the book at Ebay or half.com you can find it at www.overstock.com cheaper than at other book sellers.

Angel,
The tape has you doing 3 reps of ten, but that didn't feel like enough to me, so I do all 12 moves 5 reps each. I have definitely noticed a difference! As soon as that gets to be to easy, I will up my reps.

Oh, and I did it again today without the tape!

Lilactulip,
I'm so glad you are back! Sorry to hear you had the stomach flu, but happy you're all better!

Hi there,

After your wonderful responses I went to e-bay and got the videos I and II. Should I also be looking for the instructional video or is that part of them? Looking forward to getting them and joining in on the fun.

Hey Becki! You got the right thing. The first video is her explaining the program a bit and showing all of the stretches. The second one is an 18 minute routine she put together to use if you don't want to make up your own routine.

Hi everyone, it's 2:48 AM NYC time and I just finished reading "Be a Loser" By Greer Childers. I have to say I would have never picked up teh book based on its cover, and actually i'm sure i passed it in that section of Barnes and Nobles many many times. But you all had me so interested. I read the entire thing from cover to cover and went back and foth from feelings of "come, on gimme a break" to "wow. this sounds really good." When all was said and done, I tried the initial breathing technique (the 5steps no extra excercises) and although I'm sure I don't quite have it down right yet, wow! I sure felt something! As matter of fact, as i sit here I am feeling soreness (the good kind) in my abs. I also did 60 situps with pilates breathing earlier today but felt nothing.

So, as for this BF group--I'm officially in.
Right now my "PAHHHHHHHHH!" is more like "patooey", but I'm on way. In the AM, I'll take measurements and begin.

Also, I really did totally relate to something Greer says. I am definitely one of those people who has a lot of muscle and I'm pretty athletic, but those fatty spots that I hate (butt, thighs, stomach)doesn't seem to budge. I have those too tight pair of jeans that she mentions all ready and waiting...

Question:

She says to work on the breathing for a few days b4 adding the exercises. If i'm just doing the breathing, do i still count this week as the initial week and meausre myself in a week and expect to see some progress? Or does movement on that tape meausure not start until after doing teh exercises for a week?

Glad you joined us Gia!

I have never read the book, but the tapes don't ask you to do just the breathing first. I started the exercise right away and measured the day I started. I would just go on and start since you are already athletic.

Do not be drinking kefir when you watch the tapes. Your walls will become speckled.

Thanks for the welcome, everyone! I have to say I think that breathing...it's almost eurphoric! I did it this morning and just a while ago we came back from dinner and a movie (dinner first, movie 2 hrs long--so according to her rules, i'm in the clear) and I decided to try some more breathing. WOW! You just feel so good...almost high. My BF (boyfriend, not BodyFlex, lol) came in from parking the car and i was already in my Pjs and doing it, and he walked in and declared..."I knew it would happen eventually, she's finally gone insane!" LOL, i said "well lets see if that's how you feel when i'm on the beach in july! (uhh. I guess i'm hoping for some seroius results b/c i really would rather not be in a bikini right about now! ) Anyway, I feel so good. I'm loving it! And wow, Sharron, you just do the breathing and see such dramatic results!? That's amazing! I think that Jen, you are right, I am up to starting those excersies but knowing that u can get fabulous results by just breathing--great for lazy days, busy days, and PMS days! I have to say....I have got a great feeling about this....

I'm so thankful I found this thread and all of you wonderful women who introduced me to this!

I have really noticed a difference in my muscle tone by doing the positions. I like to feel that deep stretch after doing them. I know that the breathing is great cardio, but I like the exercise with it.

Come on Bren! You know you want to join us!
But yeh, like Char said, don't be drinking anything while watching it.

This thread has totally inspired me also. I read Greers book and started practicing the breathing. I ordered the BodyFlex Plus w/gymbar on ebay and got it Sat. I did the workout first thing Sunday am and loved it!

I have a monitor I can wear that monitors my heart rate and I definetly became aerobic doing this. The one I have you can do the whole session sitting in a chair. I am still too fat (231)& 5'4" to get through traditional contortions so this was GREAT! I just did the breathing for 2 weeks until I could order the program not realizing this would help me with inches. I tried on a pair of 20 jeans that were still way too small 2 weeks ago and they FITTTTTTTTTTTTTT...It can only be the breathing. This really works. I have had to weigh at least 10 lbs less before I could wear these jeans before. Thank ya'll so much for your posts.
