Please do, and feel free to mock any lame excuses I come up with as time goes by. I'm going to try to treat this in a similar way to how my mom treated sick days from school. Her rule was, if you were sick enough to stay home from school, you're too sick to go out and play.

Well, I'm going to observe the inverse of that rule. "If I'm well enough to go to work, I'm well enough to stop at Curves on the way home."

We'll see.

Boy, did I feel the workout today. I made it two days in a row. That day off that I've been taking between workouts makes a difference. I think going everyday would be a good thing, but..........

But then, I just went back and read Maggie's last line. Oh, the inner conflict!

Maggie, what kind of "road rocket" do you drive? Let me first say that your comments on the Civic did not offend me --- I drive a Civic. And, it's not new ('96)! Only a fool gets a good new car and then parks it in a high school parking lot everyday. My poor car has more door dings that you can imagine. I wouldn't want to subject anything else to the abuse.

I finally joined CURVES and started going last week!!! And, yes,
I love it! I plan to go every other day --three times a week --
and more if my CURVES decides to open up on Saturdays. I have
to say that it's this forum (actually, Mary Kay!) who motivated me
to join! She kept posting here even when no else was...

Anyway, I'm glad to finally be a part of the CURVES bunch!

Welcome, Elizabeth. It was MK & Barb that got me interested as well.

Judy, I'm not trying to encourage anyone else to exceed the 3X per week that Curves recommends. I'm just trying to deal with my own peculiar psychology.

I drive the last of the Integras. It's a 2001 Integra GS-R. That was the year when Acura (which is part of Honda, anyway) decided to scrap the whole Integra line in favor of the Acura RS-X. My previous car was an Integra R type as well ('92). I moved up my new car plans by a couple of years to snag one of the last of these babies while they were still available. I don't think there's ever been a car in the 20K neighborhood that performs like these cars do. It was the end of the 2001 model year so I could have chosen the RS-X instead. But I liked the feel of the Integra better. They foreshortened the nose on the RS-X and consequently returned to McPherson struts in front. There's nothing wrong with them, but I just like the way the double wish-bones all around feel.

There's nothing wrong with Civics, per se. The one I was driving was just not the best example of them. Even when perfect, though, they just aren't as much fun to drive as the Integras. Honda did make a version of the Civic (the CRX) for a couple of years that was lighter and more aerodynamic. 'Think it had a somewhat different suspension, too. They were fun cars to drive as well. I get to park in a ramp, so I don't have to worry too much about abuse.

Maggie -- You sound like a automobile expert!

Welcome Elizabeth. Glad to have somene else to keep us accountable.

I didn't make it to Curves today. There was "drama" in the neighborhood! I think there was a suicide (or self-defense killing) across the street from me last night. I went to bed about the time it all started, and didn't see anything. The police did not use sirens, and I never noticed the lights. Only one neighbor saw the cops and officials. The woman was nutty as a fruit cake, and an alcoholic. There's no telling what happened.

I will really appreciate you guys holding my feet to the fire, even if I kvetch & moan about it. LOL!

(not a car expert, I just love to drive and appreciate a car that appreciates a driver. Not sure if that makes sense. )

I might be in the wrong thread...lol. I don't have a clue what curves is but I'll just call my gym curves to make this work :P

I hit hard at the gym today because I missed a couple of days working late hours. I jogged a couple of miles, lifted weights on upper and lower body as well. My legs are currently like jello and I'm sitting here eating green beans and mockafoni and cheese and I'm in heaven. Later, I'm going back to the office to play catch up so next week I can leave at a decent time.

So, while I don't know what curves is, I have some curves

Steph

Good to see you guys are still here!

Maggie, my DSIL joined Curves back in the spring while I was still going. She is a small gal, very active on her job, etc. She was a skeptic, to say the least, about what Curves could do for her. She said what the heck and joined anyway. At first, she was less than impressed with the challenge AND her results. Mind you, that was only like 6 weeks in. Three months down the road was a complete different story! She hasn't lost a lot of weight because she didnt' have much to lose. But, she has lost quite a few inches and it shows. She now raves about the results.

I would give anything if I could go back to Curves. It really kicked my metabolism in gear. If you do their circuit, don't cheat with your WOE, there's no way around getting positive results.

When doing the circuit, really make those machine WHOOSH, give it all you got!

Best wishes to all!

Thanks for the encouragement, Susie! I haven't cheated on my woe in ... gosh, it's going to be six years soon. I HAVE been a real flop at exercise though. So, since I'm getting older than dirt (and experiencing that change in fat deposition thingy) I wouldn't mind if I could get a little re-distribution going. But mostly I'm just trying to develop one good habit to counterbalance my numerous bad ones, LOL!

Welcome, Steph! As Barb said, Curves is a women only circuit training place. There are various machines that work different muscle groups and you move from one to another when the disembodied voice tells you to do so. In between each machine is a low platform where you can march or dance or whatever to keep your heart rate up between the machines. You work for 30 minutes and then go stretch for a while in a separate room.

I like it because it's right on my way home and I'm in and out of there in a little more than a half hour, and everyone seems very nice.

Make yourself at home in either or both threads!!

Hey, Barb-O! Yeah, I sure do wish I could go to Curves. Like today, the tendons in my fingers are trying to pull some of my fingers in toward the palm of my left hand. OUCH! There seems to be lots of inflammation running around.

Maggs, you sure don't look as old as dirt. I'm not sure of your age, but DSIL is in her early fifties, she looks good. I'm guessing she's about 5'4" and weighs in the 120-130s. She has trimmed those inches with this circuit training.

I'm planning to try Walk Away The Pounds. I'll pop back in and let you guys know how it's going. I may open a thread to see if anybody else does it.

Ahhh, back to a "regular schedule" today. ( laughing hysterically at that comment). I went to Curves, got sweaty, and now I have to clean up and go back to open house. BUT, I DID IT!!! Hey, maybe I could forego the clean up and get those parents out of there quick.
