| The Curves club I go to most often is very active with the games and promotions and contests. I know that's a draw for many people, but personally I ignore all that stuff and just do my workout. (To tell you the truth, I wish the gals who work there wouldn't try so hard to engage people in coversation, either...for me, the social aspect of Curves is a liability rather than an asset - but again I know it's helpful to many). Anyway, yesterday it was pretty hard to ignore the activities. They had some sort of "reunion" celebration going on, and right there in the center of the workout circuit were two little tables of cookies, pastries, cakes, and lemonade. Whatha?? I couldn't believe it! Supposedly all sugar-free stuff, but so what? I still couldn't believe it - there's something absolutely surreal about working on that butt-blaster machine while staring at a plate of brownies! I thought maybe I was on Candid Camera or something, honestly. Found myself monitoring my facial expressions in case they were doing a close-up. I'm hoping that some of your Curves clubs did the same thing, as I can't get anybody to believe me. Did that really happen? Sky Atkins since 8/02 196/144/under 150 |

| I believe you. One time before our Curves was giving out a gift bag - filled with fat-free bakery type foods. (brownie mix, mac-n-cheese, etc) yeah, I worked real hard to win that one. I guess I kinda felt the same. all our summer 'games' had to do with making friends and getting points for talking to new people. I was going to exercise. I usually talked to people anyhow, but they were putting too much pressure on. I really wasn't enjoying it anymore.

| Sky..............I'm dumbfounded. That is just RUDE!!!!! We have all those game type things too, but I haven't seen any tables with sweet treats plaguing the members so far. I went in yesterday and did the circuit and hoola'd part of the time and jogged part of the time during the recovery stations. I got my heart rate up pretty good. I really PUSHED the machines.

| Sky, How weird was that!?! It just seems to be defeating the purpose all the way around. As my students would say --- That's just wrong in so many ways. We have been having "games" on Fridays this month. But our games required either thinking or physical action. We earned points for use as Curves bucks. I do understand the comments about the "social aspect". Some days I just want to "git er dun" and get out of there. If it's not too crowded on those days I'll put enough space between myself and the next person that it doesn't make it easy to talk. The same two employees are always there at the time I go. Sometimes I'm glad to see them signing up new members. But usually, I'm OK with talking to who ever is around. Side note --- This afternoon I was in WalMart and took my blood pressure and heart rate on their machine. My blood pressure is always low so that was no real change. But, my "resting" heart rate was much better..... another good reason for exercising. |

| Yep, I'm gonna be starting a new thread for the Couch Fauxtaters too. So we'll see y'all in the new thread. *Note to self* Start new Curves thread also. I'll be Curvin' tomorrow afternoon. I have to work 7a-11a tomorrow. Short day, but they won't reopen until 3.
