Had my first visit yesterday.I've gotta say, however, that (in spite of my couch fauxtato nature) I must be pretty strong from just doing other things. The amount of time spent on each machine isn't enough to challenge me. I don't feel a bit sore today.
But, it was a good cardio thing, with my heart rate in the target zone for the whole time, and the stretching was nice and easy. That makes 30 minutes of cardio that I would have certainly not done, so any day I do it, that's a benefit. Since I was off yesterday, I met one of the daytime girls who kept stressing that they only recommending that it be done 3 times a week. That's the rule for strength training, but the resistance on these machines doesn't amount to much as far as I can tell. In any event, the evening lady is a peach, and I don't think she's going to give me any grief if I show up more often than 3X/wk.
My current plan is to stop by after work each day and just make this part of my daily routine. Regular activity is what I've been lacking and this could be just the ticket.![]()

I think if you go everyday, you can work the machines a little less hard. I go 3Xper week (usually) with a day of rest in between, so I really work the machines HARD. The harder you pump them, the more resistance they build up, so then the tougher the workout is. If you count how many times you pump a particular machine on one circuit, you can try to increase the amount of pumps the next time around. I count the reps on the "butt kicker" machine and try to get a good 13 reps in on each leg. If I only do about 9 or so, I don't feel it.

Maggie, I agree with Barb. My initial reaction, like yours, was that there was not much resistance. I soon discovered that the faster and harder you pump the machines, the more resistance you get. After you get the proper form with each machine, then kick up the reps, you will feel it. ---- I've only been going for about three week. I understand why you have this initial impression.
Thanks, guys! I'll keep that in mind as I start up again this coming week. I'm sure I'll learn more about how to get the most out of my visits with your help!![]()

I'm going to join into the daily exercise report. I did this a year ago and found that I got excited to come type it here so I went to the gym on days I didn't feel much like it!!
Barb, you probably didn't see my post in another thread!! I am in shock :O I've come here every year for several years but I work in the legal field like Maggie and get so busy that I'll disappear from the site for 9 months or more.
I REMEMBER WHEN YOU FIRST CAME TO THIS WEBSITE!!!! I remember your initial cravings, even (weren't you the one that cheated once with a krispy creme?). I am so proud to see you lost the weight and you are a moderator :O I saw that Shellyg is now too. You guys ROCK. I can't remember what my sign in name was. I do this every year :P and then have to get a new login. I need to get more organized with that - ha ha.
Congrats!!
Well, I have to work on labor day -- bummer-- too much damn work. I'll likely go for a jog after I go into the office.
I'll post later!
Steph
Hi Steph!!!! Welcome BACK!!!!
Me and Krispie Cremes?????????? Nuh-uh, no way!!!!! I had my first (and last) KC back before I started LCing and haven't had one since. Besides, donuts give me terminal heartburn. I've never been a big donut fan anyway. Must be mixing me up with someone else. LOLThanks for the kudos!!!! I just love this site and will be an old codger before I ever give it up. If you remember what your old name was, let us know.
Curves is closed today of course, boohoo!!! So I will go tomorrow. I did hula hoop for 5 minuts last night, thanks to Curves having them on site. I will try to do 10 mins today. And I will go to Curves tomorrow right after work (if I can remember to bring my shorts with me.)

Okay, my job is stressing me out and I'm working 12 hour days so fitting in my jogs is not easy and I'm so feeling it. All I got in the last two days was squats and sit-ups. I'll go for a jog tomorrow after work!
Barb, I must be mixing the donut thing up. But I remember you without a doubt!
Looks like this thread is moving slow. We must all be busy bees!
Steph
I got my gravity-impaired butt to Curves again today. That's two days in a row of meeting my self-imposed challenge.
Day one: following a day of one aggravation after another, including my having to drive a loaner Civic - not that there's anything wrong with Civics per se. Just this particular one drives like a piece of bleep.
Day two: (today) having to drive that piece of bleep down a road, in a perpetual state of reconstruction, in a rain storm. The main reason they're doing it is to improve drainage on this road prone to flooding. The stage they're at now leaves the drains about six inches above the so-called roadway, so there was about six inches of water every 50 feet. I did it anyway!
<<<< ... breaking both arms patting my self on the back - kind of like a perversion of one of those Curves stretching moves you have to do after finishing your circuits. >>>>

great job Maggie. Doesn't it make you feel better after though? I haven't done any of my arm exercising - getting enough just getting myself around on the darn crutches. at least I can use my bad foot for balance this time - makes it easier. If only I hadn't had a little 'almost' tumble yesterday. Now I got a blue boob![]()

MK, I'm so sorry that your surgery didn't go easily. My husband has a plate and six pins in his ankle. I don't think I'll even tell him that it's possible for one to work loose or that it could ever need to be replaced.
Maggie --- good to hear that you are getting into the "Curve."
After almost a week off, I finally made it today. With a holiday for them and then being out of town two days for me, my week was really messed up. I really wanted to go home this afternoon, but I made myself change clothes and go to Curves first. Tomorrow I'm doing the same. Saturday morning...... well, that's something different. I just may not get in my 3X this week.
Well, I did it again today. Still driving that piece of bleep, Civic (with a bag over my head so no one would recognize me driving such a vehicle) and still plowing through the water on the ever-in-progress road to Curves. With some good luck, my road rocket will be ready for me to reclaim tomorrow. It is my intention to hit Curves again tomorrow, regardless of conveyance.

You'll get back into the swing Judy!!!!!
MK, my ankle hurts just thinking about your ordeal.
Steph, good for you!!!!! ( and it's good to be remembered!!!!)

Well, the paper bag is offa my head and I'm back in the driver seat of my road rocket, and ... yes ... I did it again today. I actually did it every day after work as I had (sorta, kinda) planned to do.
I'm interested to see how long I can keep this up before I start extending pardons to myself. I don't want to do that. I know the couch fauxtato in me. If I let myself off the hook once, it's much easier the next time.
We'll see.
