Default scale moving but not clothes sizes!!

Ok, SO I've hit my 40 lb mark 15 more to go. However the problem is that I have been the same dress size since 206! I'm now 180...I WISH I had the problem of losing sizes and not seeing the scale move! Is there anything I can do to make my dress size move??!? I have a VERY busy life. T-ball,I'm a high school teacher I wake up every morning at 5:00 to get to work by AT LEAST 6:15 and drop my 6 y/o at daycare at 5:45 to make sure he eats berakfast before his bus comes, I have 3 kids, my fiance goes to school in the afternoon 5-8, from the time I get home until the boys are in bed (usually aound 8) I am constantly after them. Is it even beneficial to exercise after 8?!? I guess it would be beneficial at anytime but I am SOOO tired and I just want to lay down by then that I can't even THINK about lifting a weight! I've stopped bringing papers home to grade so that I can actually keep my house clean and spend SOME time with my boys. This is my first year teaching so I'm stilllearning the ropes w/ that too.GOOD thing is the cafe has EXCELLENT CHEAP salads! HELP! ;O) Thanks!

Any exercise is beneficial--even if it is lifting cans of corn or just doing some easy stretching after the kids are in bed! Teaching is hard--the first year is the worst--do what you can. . .the rest will be there tomorrow--take care of you and let the rest take care of itself on your schedule! The only times graded papers are vital is the week report cards go out--or maybe the week before--I always close my grade book the week before so I can have grades ready and be relaxed about getting them that way. GET a book of kids yoga poses and learn to do a few. . .you will be amazed at how much they can kick your tail--adn how good you will feel after doing them!

Good Luck and if you have "first year" questions. . .I am always available!

I'm going to actually try the corn thing because that's where I am for a good portion of 5-6:30...cleaning and cooking included... I really LOVE yoga nad I miss it I have tapes but...when do I do them? I may take my weights to school and lift during my planning period. Anyhow, what grade and subject do you teach? I have a first year Brain Brawl coach question if you know anyone with that expertise...HOW do you effectively coach trivia?!? Oh yeah to WIN. My goal is to win AT LEAST 4. Last year we won NONE so I think 4 is a good staarting goal.

Coaching brain things is no different than coaching physical things--you practice with trivia games and current events! Working on quick reactions to the questions and buzzer beater hands. . .but mostly knowing LOTS of current events and facts! I am not suggestiong trying to get in a whole workout--4 or 5 poses done a couple of times before bed are actually enough to get the toning and flexibiliity results without taking a ton of time--I teach PE--K-4 this year--My masters is in Middle level education and I am a certified (certifiably crazy) PE, Health, Language Arts and Humanities teacher! a 12 oz can lifted in curls, extensions and arm raises will tone the arms as effectively as a weight machine designed to do the same thing and it is much cheaper and easier to do in the kitchen--heck it fits in the kitchen! LOL!!! The kids may think you are insane but add in a few squats between flipping the eggs and VOILA--instant workout and no extra time out of your schedule--An ab workout can be done using locust (yoga pose) and crocodile (another pose) on the bed before you go to sleep--hold 3-4 times for 1`0-15 seconds and again--no extra time out of the schedule and it only takes a bout 2 minutes total!

Suenos,
Good luck in your first year. Husker is right, it is hard. A while back, I posted some idea for you in a thread in the "everything else" forum. I sent you a PM, but never got a reply. If you didn't get the message, you might go back to review the old thread. here

Now, back to the exercise part. You are right, your schedule is awful, and I'm sure you are exhausted. Do you have stairs at work? Is your campus large? From my room to the office is almost 1/2 a block in length. To go to the office and back I will make two flights of stairs and get some walking distance in. We have a "challenge" list for teachers. One of the members put on a pedometer last year and tried to get her exercise in by walking the halls. Hit the stairs a few times during the day, then try the toning ideas that Husker suggested, and viola--- a workout.

Re: your Brain Bowl question --- I coach Academic Decathlon. You can "coach" kids to learn information. We cover and test on ten subjects in a competitive team format. I'm not sure how your event if formatted, but one of the first things that I teach my kids is good test taking skills. They may not know all the answers, but I teach them how to make the best guesses.

Come join us in the Challenge of School . Maybe we can help you with some of your other isses, too.

Husker's I didn't think you were telling me to do a full yoga session. I was just reminiscing about the days when I COULD do it! Better yet, when I had the time! hahaha I just would love to be able to do a full yoga work out but the info that you offered was great. I can't wait to implement that tonight! and throughout the day for that matter!

Judy, we are quizzed on the 4 subject areas, and other things like drama, music, art, etc. The head of competition said that they may ask things like who said a particular quote from Shakespeare on Who wrote the Moonlight Sonata or things like that. I will come to the forum that you suggested. It's been crazy getting logged on here. At one point my password was saved in the comp at my old job so when I went to the library to use the comp I couldn't remember what the password was! Sorry about not replying to your pm !! :( I see that it may still be there now. I will go check it out and THANKS to you both for your insight!

Taboo games are great, they also have timers in them, there are several games out today that have timers, the electronic jeopardy game has two or three I can't remember which, family feud has 2 in it, Those are the ones we used in the middle school I taught at for 6 years, they were cheaper (buying the game with them) than buying a set of buzzers separately!
