I am sorry to say I am still not going to curves. My ankle is still hurting and my doctor says I am not to do the boards. So not curves for me for the forseeable future. Maybe I will try Yoga. Any thoughts out there?

Sorry to hear that, Fran. If the boards are the only thing your doctor says to avoid, why not just use the recovery stations to do gentle stretching instead of walking in place?

But as I think about it, if you aren't even allowed to walk in place, there are probably a few machines there that you shouldn't do either. You might want to think about concentrating on your upper body with sitting exercises & gentle weights, and maybe crunches for the abs while you're waiting for your ankle to get better.

I did my three hours as planned this week.

Yoga and pilates should work for you. Your ankle won't be weight bearing during these. and it still works the full body. (as I say,not as I do - I just can't seem to get into either one of them)

To go or not to go? That is this morning's question. DH is gone and I have the house and the day to myself for the first time in ages. Should my selfish self stay home and waller in the wonder of it all????? Nah, I think I'll get up and go. When I get home the garage door goes back down and I'm hoping no one will know that I am here.

**Side note ...... DS will be leaving the warmth of Texas for the frigidness of New Jersey on Sunday. He is supposed to arrive right in the middle of your winter storm warning. Say some prayers that the thin blooded Texas boy doesn't have any problems. He says his coat is warm, but I think that all may be "realative". His friend that lives in Manhattan told him not to even consider going out without a hat, gloves and scarf -- and long underwear since his coat is short! He had to go and buy the hat and scarf. His initial thought was to just tough it out. My guess is that he will have to buy some warmer things while he's there (2 weeks).

ALRIGHT Judy!!!!!!! Your DS BETTER bundle up while on the east coast. It's gonna get nasty!!!! Wer'e gonna be in the twenties tomorrow with windchills of about 7, br-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r!!! But I'm going to have to get out and shovel tomorrow.

I went yesterday and can REALLY feel it today. My upper body is quite sore, neck, shoulders and upper back. I've NEVER felt sore after going before. But I really worked the machines HARD!!!! I can't blame it on shoveling, cuz I was a total slug today. maybe tomorrow I can handle it better and hopefully the wind will let up and not undo the shoveling. You better believe I will be bundled up. I bought some "long undies" at Sam's a couple of weeks ago. They arent' the normal long underwear fabric, more like nylon-spandexy in a way. They are luxurious and actually fit me!!!!!! So I better wash them out tonight so I can don them tomorrow.

High Snow Bunnies!!

The weather here today was close to 70. (Ducking and running now...)

And, I made it to Curves. I have to go today, tomorrow and Thursday to get in three days this week. My kids are going to contest this weekend and I'm definitely on the plus side of busy.

Barb, I don't envy the weather you've been having. We had a cold snap (down to 8 degrees and didn't get out of the teens all day), but now the weather has moderated nicely.
Went to curves last night, took my 2 dd's with me and they did very well, so I signed up for a family membership. I thought it was very reasonable, and the girls said they enjoyed it. I look forward to us exercising together.
Have a great day everyone.

Cinelu, that is AWESOME your DD's go with you!!!! I wish mine would!!! (they can't afford it and either can I to pay for their memberships.)

I've lived here in Illinois most of my life (my first couple of months were in Minnesota) and you would think I would get used to these blasted cold winters. I NEVER will!!!!

Barb, if you can get the family membership for them, it's only 10 a month.

LOL, If I did that, I doubt my girls would go anyway. Maybe I can get them to come over and do "Walkaerobics" with me. That costs me nuthin'. I know my one DD wouldn't go there EVER. She doesn't like exercising in front of anyone else, she's weird that way. She won't even go use their exercise room at her appartment complex. I wish I could help her adopt a "Who cares" attitude, but she's sooooooooooo self-conscious.

Hoping to get off to Curves today AND do my Walkaerobics!!!!

Well, it's been a long time since I've posted here, but I wanted to report that I've made it into Curves four times every week during January. Great way to kick off the new year! I hope all of you are doing great!
