:bellydanc May I join you all here?

I am currently limited to what exercise I can do right now because of some medical problems but I do like swim in the pool and also am in water rehab to so they work me out real good there.
But I am wanting to really do more exercise when I get all well and not be so idle like i use to be in the pass.
I am determined to lose this weight of mine, i have 100 lbs. to lose as of right now, so I feel exercise will help me alot in loseing it.
I also have alot of arthritis in my joints so alot of impact walking or things like that is out for me because of the pain it causes, that's why i love my water exercises so much. We have a inground pool in our back yard so I can get in it anytime i want to which is nice.

What do I need to do? do i need to record all my exercises down on paper or what? someone please let me know because this is all new to me.

Hope to get to know all of you better in the weeks to come.

Hi Sunny and welcome! For me this challenge is just a way to be accountable to someone (besides me) for doing some exercise. Some days if I really don't feel like working out, I think about Carolyn or Lori or Carrie putting in their efforts and it helps motivate me too. There are no hard and fast rules. Just do what you can. I llook forward to seeing your posts! We are all just here for support and motivation.

Today did crunches, leg lifts, pushups, curls and military. Noticing improvement in strength. Geeting up to speed...slowly. I love the tired/tight muscle feeling!

Swam 1400 yards today..my arms feel like they are going to fall off...still...though that has something to do with the gymnastics too! My students are getting a healthy dose of it right now and loving every minute of it! They would do this all year without getting tired of it I think! Anyway, I did some figuring and as far as I can tell, and if my calculations are correct, I burn around 1250 calories in the 5 hours I am teaching and another 650 or so during my workout...meaning I burn around 1900 calories in about 7 hours of my day...and I am on bad days eating only around 1300...no wonder I have days I am totally wiped out!

Carrie, there was a real warm Sunday early in November. Thr "kid" called me and asked me to play tennis. I had been off more than a month because of elbow soreness but though why not, I've got all winter to heal. I don't know if he was feeling soory for me or not, (Idon't think so really) but I did finally beat the "kid" lol I'm suprised you remember that. That's great that mom enjoyed the calss. I think that's really cool, you too working out together.
lori, no wonder is right! Gee maneeze, that's alot of calories, I kinda miss that. Last year I still was walking the route quite a bit. And burning tons of cals. Now that I have a condo and business route I don't get that much fat burning exercise anymore. I miss it in a way, but then I don't miss the sore feet and ankles!

1,000 yards yesterday...I was so out of it yesterday after not getting a good lunch it wasn't funny...did 1,000 yards and quit before I fell out...then we ate not so good for dinner...hot wings and I had a bog salad...but the dressing choices were awful so I didn't eat much of that...I hate LIGHT ranch. DD got straight A's so we were at her mercy and Chuck E Cheese is her favorite place to go...even though the food isn't wonderful...I had cauliflower with a bit of dressing and a plateful of salad with a tiny bit of dressing too.

Good w/o in today. Crankin it up with more exercises and more sets and higher weights. Was considering going for a walk today but it's only 2 degrees out right now so that will have to wait.

ha! how funny. i WISH i knew were to find it!! that movitation seems to be easier to find in warmer months, actually. i just don't have the patience to scrape ice and snow off my car to get to the gym at 5:30 in the morning!!

anyway ........ i have not posted in a couple days. spent a long weekend downtown.
thurs: 60 mins cardio (20 running, 20 bike, 20 elliptical), lifted shoulders.
fri: 60 mins cardio and took a 60 min body pump class called "definitions." i really liked it!
sat: 60 mins cardio (30 elliptical, 20 bike, 10 hill walking on treadmill), lifted back.
sun: 60 mins cardio (30 elliptical, 30 bike), jump rope, lifted legs.
mon: 60 mins cardio (same as sun), jump rope, lifted triceps, ab work.
thinking about a day off soon .........

"What I really want to do is find the motivation to go before work and exercise. Does anyone know were this might be located? I know I will find it soon"

Ok, I think I can help....

FIRST: there aren't as many people in the gym in the morning before work (I go 5 days a week, leaving my house at 5:45, three days I swim - almost no one in the pool at that time and two days is a water aerobics class - anywhere from 6-16 people in the pool for class). After I work out in the pool, I spend 15-20 min in the steam room, then shower, and head home to dress for work (I don't have to be at work till 8:30-9amish - pretty much when i get there, put in my 8 hours, and go home).

SECOND: reason to go in the morning, it gets your blood pumping, and you continue to burn calories for a good while after you work out.

THIRD: you can start getting your water in earlier - I get in two quarts of water while i am at the gym - one quart during my hour work out, and one quart in the steam room (yes that means I have to go to the bathroom before I leave the gym, when I get home, before I go towork, and once I get to work....) but I got 2 quarts in before I actually start my day....

FOURTH: it is over with... out of the way, and you don't have to convince yourself after a long day at work, to go work out... I don't even think of it as a chore, it is part of my daily routine that even when I am on vacation I get in my work outs....

Because I like to swim - if I went at night I couldn't get in the pool till 7:30pm
(which means go home, wait till 7:15, go to pool, etc.) I can't eat before I swim, so that means I wouldn't be eating dinner till like 9pm.... too late for me.

In order to effect a change in your routine you have to do it at least 3 weeks straight. I did it about 3 or 4 years ago and went to the gym 75 days straight. I was never an early morning person (still have a hard time getting to sleep early enough) but I get up early everyday... get coffee ready at night and all I have to do is flip the switch, usually get gym bag together at night, as well as my water bottles. ( I also get my lunch, and breakfast ready to carry to work at night)

Now when I don't go to the gym, my body still wakes up at 5:15 or so to go to the bathroom.... it has this routine down.

Hope this helps to motivate you to get up early and go the the gym in the morning... I notice that if I don't go, my whole day is off...
