| I feel great about signing up to run, even though that 5K course is intimidating. I know I can finish strong (that part is downhill!), and there's nothing like crossing a finish line to give you a sense of accomplishment. On the other hand, one of my favorite mottoes comes from Nike: THERE IS NO FINISH LINE That certainly applies to the low-carb lifestyle, as well as to maintaining a healthy level of fitness on all fronts. |

| Well, Lori, Crown Center is still there--nicer than ever. And now that Union Station nearby has been totally refurbished, it's almost worth a trip to KC. Let me know when you're coming. Finished the 5K in about 35 minutes. The first 2 miles of this race are a rather grueling uphill. Then you make a turn and its downhill all the way home. I made good time on that last leg! It was raining pretty heavily at the start, so we all ran with extra water weight in our shoes. By the time of the awards ceremony at 10:30, the day had turned sunny and delightful. There were 3000 runners out today--for half-marathon, 12K and 5K races, plus a mile Fun Run for kids and families. ( They have to run uphill, too!) Maybe I'll train for the 12K next year. P. S. I'll be in North Carolina twice later this year. Durham area in August (for a business event) and our annual trip to Holden Beach in September. It's a lovely state--and a lovely state of mind whenever I get there! |
