Went to the gym this morning and did 60minutes elliptical and 30 minutes of weight training! Good day and will clean "some" but relax with some tea this morning.

Whew it is good to be back and posting on this forum!

I was ready and made the transition from walking to jogging because walking just wasn't making me break a sweat like it used to.

--2 miles jogging
--1mile walking (warm up, cool down)

My legs are sore and I will see how things are in the morning. I think I need a rest day to allow my muscles and ligaments some time to recuperate! I am trying not to over do it because I haven't run in a looooooooooog time, but man, it does feel good to know I can!

It was so beautiful yesterday that I was able to get in an hour 1/2 of walking with no jacket on! This morning - it is snowing outside!!! I was only able to do 15m of ddr because my calf (sp?) or is it calve? is hurting. Luckily better this morning because I plan on bundling my little one up because we have to walk to pick up his brother from school this afternoon. Dh will drop him off this morning on his way to work. I'll get some ddr in today to bring up my cardio and steps.

After all the exercise I did yesterday: elliptical/w.t. at gym before family woke up/walking before my son got out of school/bit of ddr - my son had within steps the same amount on his pedometer!! No wonder why we could eat so much as kids and never gain weight. Today I'm going to have to work pretty hard to keep up with him. Guess that means skipping my afternoon nap

I loved the website Gregg! I simply love weight training because you can see results. Doing cardio is great and you'll get more energy but other then that, besides weight loss of course (which is also from dieting), there really is no better way to see your hard work pay off. I love the idea that I'm gaining muscle to burn more calories even at rest. I don't let it as an excuse to eat more but the fact that if I do eat a bit more is nice.

Today I will go out for a walk - oh yes I will!! I'll just bundle up me and my son and we'll head out for big brother at school and walk the track. I'll bring my music and graham crackers for the 2 year old. I'm doing ddr right now and plan on getting in 60 minutes.

Did research on exercise addiction yesterday. I've been craving it lately!! I used to smoke and it was weird that these cravings were so similar. It really is an addiction that some have and I'm happy to trade in my smokes for exercise anyday.

Please let me know what you found and where you found it. I am very interested in the concept of similarities there.

I saw an article that said that Paul Abdul was a recovering exercise addict. Here are some articles on it http://www.webmd.com/content/article/78/95585.htm and http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/3253258.stm and http://www.hhp.ufl.edu/faculty/pbird...E/EXADDICT.HTM and last one I promise... http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/medi...hp?newsid=4376

I remembering you asking about this awhile back April and got information on it today from http://health.yahoo.com/nutrition_fi...sstip=20021118

I subscribe to a yahoo health fitness tip for each day. It's about splitting up your workout time through the day.

Thanks for that, Heather. I appreciate it.

I just got back from the gym with the trainer. Tonight was reevaluation night because it's been six weeks. I am severly disappointed. All of my measurements -- and my weight -- went up. I don't understand it. I simply don't understand it. I'm doing weight training at the gym 2 to 3 times per week, and cardio each day, and have been eating clean except for one indiscretion this past weekend.

Perhaps it's because my thyroid is out of range. I dunno. All I do know is that I feel like crying because this is entirely upsetting.

But I'm not giving up. I'm going down to the treadmill right now and I'm going to walk for a solid hour.

I can see where it is easy to become addicted to exercise. I just started running and forced myself to take a day off because my legs and ankles are sore. I really wanted to just go out run today but common sense said NO, you don't need torn muscles and stress fractures...

The next six weeks checkup will be better. It's slated for 06-14-06. So, here's to working my butt off (literally) to improve myself.

Walked 2 miles this morning in 30 minutes, and I'm going to the gym solo tonight and tomorrow night. I can't go Saturday because of having to go to Terre Haute to fetch Ben from college and bring him and his stuff home. I'm going to eat clean -- that means no extras at all, like the daily OMM I've been having -- just lots of veggies and a little protein each day. We'll see what the results are 06-14-06.

hey gang ...
i did not exercise (formally) on 4/30 or /51. we moved on 4/30 ... although we hired movers, we also did A LOT of stair climbing and lifting ourselves. our old place was a 3rd floor walk-up ... BF and i always thought we'd lose a few lbs or at least have buns of steel from climbing those dang stairs every day for the past year .... but nooooo. oh well, now we have a 1st floor apartment!!

anyway, hit the gym yesterday - ran 6.3 miles (the gym replaced all of the old treadmills w/ new ones, and they felt kinda "tight"), then biked for 15 mins.

Took a nice 3 mile walk with a colleague after work. I have had to cancel on her for a few weeks but we got back on track today. The trail we walk has some major inclines and they have been feeling easier. I get less winded and have more endurance now and that just makes me feel so good!

Carrie,
Wow, 6.3 miles running! Any advice for someone just starting out running? I am doing about 2 miles and want to increase gradually. Did you just did what felt right or go on a schedule?
