Default Question on exercise equipment

I have a Gazelle, which I love, and I'm finally getting some exercise. Now I'm considering getting an AbLounge (my son has one, he and his wife really like it.) I looked on the internet and found AbLounge and also Ab Chair, which is quite a bit cheaper. Has anyone had an experience with either of these? I'd appreciate any info. Thanks!

Hi Nita,

It's hard to compare the quality between the two without actually getting on it and doing a few crunches. But for 89 bucks here what the heck. Go for it!

Working the abs is great for every day functional strength. If this device will help you do that, then it's worth it in my opinion although I haven't used this particular thing. The 120 day money back guarantee is pretty cool too.

Edit: This link might be of interest too. I have to agree with a few of the follow-up post by Wndy.

Nita,
I've got one that I got from Costco. They stock it and you can walk out the door with it. I love it. It is even very comfortable to sit in to watch TV. My version does not fold up. YET! I'm gonna modify it to be the same as the deluxe version as in being able to fold up.

It does seem to work my abs much more than the crunch boards at the gym. At the gym I can do in the neighborhood of 500 crunches. On this thing, I get pooped out after about 50. I also like the smooth ability to do hyperextensions of the back.
Good luck with it.
Tom.

Edit: Wow I had a heck of a time getting to that like of Greggs. My pop-up blocker was going nuts! I agree that exercise should not be focused on abs but cover the entire body for good health.

Thanks for your ideas, Gregg and Tom. I was just thinking about adding that type of exercise to the gazelle exercise. Crunches have been effective for me in the past, but now the only place I can do them is on the bed; the knees just don't like for me to try to get up off the floor. Perhaps I'll just keep on trying the bed crunches, and save myself some $$$. We have an adjustable bed. Maybe I should just lie on it and punch the control, up and down, up and down, up and down! Easy crunches!!!!

BTW, No such thing as Costco anywhere near here, Tom.

Hmm. No Costco there. They are in Texas, just maybe not in your area. BTW, we have a Gazelle too. I got it for DW. She used it for about 2 weeks and now it lives in the shed until I can find somebody else to take it. It took years to get rid of her treadmill. I like your theory about crunches. Reminds me of doing "curls" at the local tavern. hehe
Have you tried any of the resistance bands? They do allow you to work a very wide range of muscles and without having a great deal of equipment around. Good to carry in your suitcase on trips too.

Depends on how much it costs, and if it's the deluxe version that holds more weight.

WalMart has the Ab Lounge 2, which is supposed to support up to 250 lbs.
I've found that sometimes exercise equipment can handle a little more weight that what they say they can.
