Hey guys!

Well, after 30+ hrs of flight and travel, I finally made it to Hanoi yesterday afternoon. The jet lag is quite a killer. This morning I woke up and ran for 45 and walked for 50. Any little bit helps the jet lag. I'm hoping to do weights tomorrow, I brought tapes wtih me to workout with on the DVD and those are best. Wow, I'm really not making sense....til tomorrow.

Shannon - great job!!! You are an inspiration to me!!!

Carolyn - nice work! I remember the days when I used to work out multiple times a day. Would love to get there again - looks like I've joined the right group here for motivation.

Niki!!!! I'm excited to see you've come to play with us!

Have taken the last few days off because of chronic fatigue. Felt refreshed today so probably over did it . I did 60 minutes on the elliptical and 30 minutes of upper body weight training.

Hi Heather - i think a 60 cardio + 30 weights is perfect!!! I'm taking my DD for a walk right now to the grocery store - a speedwalk pushing a stroller with a 35 pounder in it actually works up a sweat! Should be good for about 40 minutes of really pushing it.

So tell me a little more about your relationship with your pedometer. Seems like you talk about your number of steps a lot. Do you put it on when you wake up and take it off when you go to sleep? Do you sleep with it? How do you handle the inaccuracies? I just found one that my DD got with another toy, so I'm sitting here putting it on my waistband, and it shows I took 4 steps when I just sat down. I had another one a few years ago, and I put it on when I worked on the 31st floor of a building and when I got to the bottom floor, it added 34 steps! are there different qualities?

Niki - Those pedometers you had sound horrible and discouraging. Unfortunately the better the quality seems to be the more expensive it is. about.com has great information on how to wear and what to buy. I put mine on first thing in the morning and take it off when I go to bed. I walked around the room counting my steps making sure it lined up with what it said. For me it has to be on a certain part of my pants to be it's most accurate. Right above my hip pocket infact. Might be different for you. I take it off and lie it flat in the car so it won't register. Other then that if it's not perfect it still is a great motivator for me to see how much activity I'm doing. I suggest buying one that has a cover over the entire face so you can't accidentally sit down and push the reset button.

Good going Carolyn!!!

Today I'll be doing lower body for my weight training. On the elliptical I'll ride backwards 12 minutes in the hour to work on glutes. I'm digging out my weight training book to get ideas. I'm thinking about getting some ankle weights for leg lifts.

Just got back from the gym, did 2.25 miles on the treadmill (30 min) and then some ab work.

Took my daughter for a walk last night, but I didn't realize how cold it was going to be, so we didn't last very long. The good thing was that it was so cold, I had to run with the stroller, so it got my heart rate pumping!

Heather - thanks for the info re: pedometer. I may just invest in a really good one some time soon.

No problem Niki. I bet you'll strap that on and be telling us, "I KNEW that I was active!"

Shannon - what is a ripped dvd? More weight training? Do you have any tips for me? I've decided that I'm going to do upper body one day and then lower body the next. I'm lost and need to research this. Seriously, I want to train like the woman body builders. I SO want a 6 pack!! What I want to know is do they train 3x a week each muscle like I try to?

It took me an hour for weight training today. With rests I bet I could only count in 30 minutes of nonstop time. I have a body sculpt book and believe I hit upper body from full arms, shoulders, back, chest....

I also did 60 minutes (broken up into 2 sessions) on the elliptical.

I purchases ankle weights today to help with lower body weight training tomorrow.

Hey Guys!

Ok, the "Ripped" DVD is by Jari Love and it's a weight training DVD. Check it out on www.collagevideo.com --- just type in Jari Love as instructor. IT's hard and it works! Really, it's awesome and while I'm in Vietnam, I do not have access to weights at a gym so I bought some 5lbs dumbells and use those to keep muscle definition. I cannot recommend this DVD (it's actually a series!) enough. Also, if you go to Google and type in Jari Love and Ripped, you'll get the website.

Today, I did the cardioblast workout. It's from the Firm videotapes. I've never done home workout tapes but b/c I'm over here, I need to explore other options. This one was a killer. Damn, very hard. Uses cardio and weights together for 55mins!! Doesn't sound hard but IT IS! Let's just say, I had plain yogurt with musliex and 1 egg white for breakfast and was STARVING at 10am!!! It's good!!!
Tonight - rest up for another "Ripped" session tomorrow AM!!!

Thanks Shannon on the info!

Yesterday I did another hour with 1/2 rests of lower body workout. I broke up the elliptical again into two 30 minute sessions. During the hour I did 12 minutes (broken up into 2 minute sessions) focus on glutes by peddling backwards and 6 minutes (broken up in 1 minute sessions) on going as fast as possible to get the heart going.

Today I'm sooooo sore upper/lower body so will be taking a break on weight training. Figure if I go upper one day/lower the next/then break day for my schedule it should give me 4-5 times a week in of weight training. Trying to just keep active for my pedometer since I'm not sure if I'll have enough strength in my legs for the elliptical tonight. Will see how I feel and may try for 30 minutes.

No problem.

Today -- ran for 1/2 hr and did "Ripped" for 55 minutes.

I might take tomorrow off --- or I'll run for a bit. The cardio really helps with the jet lag.

Hi all,
Been absent from this challenge for a while due to TOM. Didn't have my napercin so TOM hit me hard. It's hard to work out when you can hardly stand straight. So....back to it yesterday. Did an hour worth of aerobics. 30 mins treadmill and 30 minutes bike. Today at lunch ran for 20 minutes and did weights. TOnight it's the spinning class. I gotta work off the weight I gained during my "week of destruction". You all are doing well and give me inspiration!
