Dix and Kat, YW! My next best *exercise gadget* I ever bought was my biking *computer*, aka speedometer, odometer, info center.
I feel like these are things that can inspire you to reach your goal, and even exceed you goal, for me anyway. It makes a person feel pretty good to look down at that pedometer or bike-ometer and see how many steps, miles, calories burned etc you got in during your exercise. Positive reinforcement...LOL!

Well, since it was already 85 degrees before I decided what I wanted to do for the day, I decided today was the day to break back into biking. Oye!
The part I'm NOT going to like is my *sit bones* being sore for about 3 -4 days. Oh well, the price for a good calorie burn, eh? hehe!
Soo...a gentle, slow, short ride for the first time out for the season.
biked: 30 min/5 miles or so...forgot my computer til I was about 2 miles from home!/213 cal burn.

happy trails........

Yesterday in dress shoes (ouch!) I managed to get in over 17,000 steps because of my Sunday School 2/3 year old class and Air Show at the Air Force base. Came home to relax.

Today I'll get in tons of cleaning and walk ds back home from school today. Hope to hop on the elliptical once DH comes home today AND weight training.

oh Heather! I can't even imagine that many steps in dress shoes, especially moderate height heels! BIG OUCH, kiddo!

walked this morning:(because, yes, my *sit bones* are sore!...hehe!)
72 min/4.03 miles/226 cal burn/avgsp 3.29mph
STBO!!!! It's already 85 degrees and they say it's possible for a few towns in OOOOklahoma to hit 100 today! Ack!!! I figured as much; we haven't had to many typical, pleasant, spring like days...they've been either unseasonably cool or unseasonably warm. Looks like we may *skip* spring and go straight into summer. Oye!

happy trails

During Sunday School I learned that my sister wanted to go to the Air Show so I found the only thing I could...scotch tape. I wrapped my toes in it because they were already sore from my active little ones. I was afraid that a ton of walking would cause pain or that they were going to be cut open from the straps. Worked! Sore feet but no wounds. The kids and I had only a slight sunburn from walking on the cement too.

100 degrees!!! We're going to get 76. Hope it stays this nice for the sake of my sanity when we start building our house. My DH is a big cry baby when it comes to heat.

Creative thinking with the scotch tape, glad it worked.
I was busy with an all day meeting on Friday, the Recovery Center on Saturday, and just depressed, and unmotivated the last couple of days didn't get any exercise in but was determined to change that and I walked 30 minutes on the treadmill and did the weight machines this afternoon at the gym. Feeling loads better that I did but still need to put more steps into my day. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Lisa - Great job on breaking the pattern and getting in some exercise!! Something I do at night, if you are a TV watcher, is get up during the commercials and clean up....dust, put things away, whatever....just to get in some steps. I will even walk side to side during the show behind the couch to keep out of every one's way. It maybe silly but healthy is worth it. I'm also a member of walkertracker.com which is where I log in my pedometer steps each day. It's full of great ideas!

Hi Everyone! Busy few days with not much computer time. Yesterday my workout was aerobic bed changing! Still feeling really good since my surgery last week but I feel like I tire a little more for now so I'm not working as hard at anything.

I only use my pedometer when I'm on the rebounder now that fitness walking is out for me. I've got an appt. with the knee dr. this afternoon but it's just a follow up and I'm sure nothing will change. At least I can still do the rebounder!

I love my bike computer! I've got one for the outdoor bike as well as the indoor bike. It's a great way to keep track of everything! I keep a journal with all the info from all my rides and I have info dating back 10+ years!

I compete with myself on miles, speed, etc. and am always pleased with the results. I always set a miles goal for each biking season and it's partially based on the previous year's numbers. This year my season goal is 2000 miles. Since Wisconsin weather doesn't allow for year round biking, I'll have to average at least 100 miles a week if not more!

I've got my surgery follow up appt. on Thursday and I hope I will get the ok to get back to outdoor biking, including the hills.

hi guys!
Hope everyone is up and at 'em and feeling good today!!!
I had planned on biking today, but the WIND is howling(30mph from the S), and since I have a few inclines in that direction, and I'm not in good biking form yet...well yanno...I took the easy way out and walked!
Sooo: walked 71 min/3.98 miles/223 cal burn/avgsp 3.32mph/>8900 steps. Hopefully I'll get those other 1100 steps in for the day.

happy trails.....

Heather,
Hope your headache is gone today. Take care!

Linda, compared to you, I'm a bike wimp! I biked 600 miles last season; I think I started in late May, and rode until my back went out, probably in mid October.
Anyway, I started biking because I had plantar fasciitis and couldn't do power/fitnes walking. Then...ta-da!...whatdaya know...I lost 25 lbs and the heel pain pretty much went away(along with other treatments), so this spring I've been able to fitness walk again. Yay! But, I really enjoyed biking last year and wanted to do it again also, so it's like a dream come true...I can now DO AND ENJOY 2 really great OUTDOOR exercise activities!!!
I am really stoked about getting a biking/walking schedule going. Almost there, as soon as my *sit bones* get *un-sore*! har!

biked today: 60 min/9.37 miles...nice and slow...over hill and over dale and against the wind! /320 cal burn! I'll take it!!!
happy trails everyone!

Shelley, I've always loved biking and have done it off and on over the years between injuries and things. I got back to it about 4 years ago and I'm in love! DH and I try to get some 50+ mile rides on weekends when we can but I mostly ride alone on the country roads. Lots of hills around here so I get a good workout.

Had my annual exam this morning and the dr. asked if I have been out on my bike since surgery. I replied that I went out once but because I can't lift it in and out of the truck to go to the park and I can't ride hills yet, I haven't been out since then. He said that bikers and runners always want to know how soon they can get back to their workouts because they hate to miss a day while normal people like to have an excuse to sit and do nothing! I asked him when I can get out there again! He said to ask the surgeon at my follow up appt. tomorrow!

Because I have the bad knee, I can't do the fitness walking anymore and it's killing me! I live right next to a State Park with great trails and the roads around my house are nice to walk on, too. And I can't do any of it anymore. The knee dr. said to keep riding! On days that I couldn't ride due to the wind, I'd walk to the park and walk around the lake. Now I can't do that. It is really frustrating to look out and see what a nice day for a walk it is and not be able to enjoy it!

Thanks for the ideas Babybluejay. Walked 30 minutes on treadmill and did weight machines. Walked around walmart and cell phone shopped hope that counts toward something.

Was way stressed out and felt the only way I would feel better would be to do some type of exercise to get it out of my system. Walked 30 minutes on the treadmill and did the exercise machines again today. I was right I feel loads better than I did before and my problem doesn't seem so overwhelming like it did before. I am in my donut hole if anyone knows what that is for my medicare prescription plan. It is a mess the government has made for low income people when they eliminated the share of cost and added medicare part D prescription drug coverage. I have to come up with $3,000 worth of medication before my plan will start paying for my meds and I get a decent co-payment again. Needless to say I don't have $900.00 a month to pay for my meds to come up with the $3,000 hence the term donut hole because you are in one and you can't get out of it. Hopefully I can find a patience assistance program that will take someone on medicare part D. wish me luck
