We had a couple of busy days with no time for a workout....getting a new pool is a lot of work! Plus we had to go to my Mom's so DH could do some plumbing work for her and stopped to visit MIL and see her new roof....glad the weekend is over!

I'll be doing some time on the bike downstairs soon...waiting for the oven to beep so I can get the cream cheese muffins out! I'll do weights while I'm down there, too.

No treadmill last night but I did get the grass cut. Then took my bike out for a short run...first time this year....muscles are screaming.

Great job everyone especialy walking in the heat and humidity Shelley. I walked 30 minutes on treadmill and did the weight machines, have an ARNP appt this evening but tomorrow I am going to do the walk at the gym and get a walk in with my niece who is trying to lose weight too and I have been promising her I would start with her so is about time I honor my promise.

I was able to go out for a short bike ride today - about 11-12 miles. I forgot the bike computer but I have ridden the park so much that I do know about how much I did. Can't wait till next week when I plan to get back to my long rides again!

Got a 15 minute walk in this morning. Was ill all last week and the only exercise I got was the walk from the bed to the bathroom. Felt good to be out but could only handle a short walk. Better than nothing.

I'm so happy that this thread is such a popular place these days!! When I was sick some months ago it seemed that poor Shelley was the only one here.

Yesterday I didn't get in upper body weight training but took the time to walk with my boys to Grandma and Grandpas house so they could visit instead. Today I will get that in, 1 hour elliptical and walks am/pm to my ds school to drop off/pick up. This will be at least 25,000 steps today.

I did a half hour on the bike tonight along with one set of all the weights exercises. I forgot to do the crunches so I'll be going back downstairs soon to get them done....

Just finished a 30 minute walk. I have a question-how does elliptical time compare to walking time? Is 30 minutes on the trainer the same as 30 minutes walking-or is it more intense? (Am I making sense here? lol.)

Perfect sense!! Okay, on the elliptical you get 203 steps counted per minute for your pedometer. When walking it is:
Walking 3 mph - 100
Walking slow - under 2 mph - 61
Walking slow - 2 mph - 76
Walking 3.5 miles per hour - 115
Walking 4 miles per hour - 152
Walking 5 miles per hour - 242
Racewalking - 197

So the elliptical is nearly double the work as just walking at 3mph.

Thank you so much-that's wonderful information! It explains why I feel a bit rubbery and sore after an elliptical session as compared to the same time walking. Neat-thanks again.
