Smile November 08 exercise accountability

About this time of year, the weather can get dicey for many of us *outdoor* exercisers. I have a back-up plan for when that happens. I pop in a video(yes...I'm still in the stone age...LOL) and do a *walk* with Leslie Sansone.
I much prefer to be outside, but when that's not possible, WATP(walk away the pounds) is the next best thing, for me at least.

What's your back up plan?? I'm open to shaking things up, so who knows, if we share ideas, we all may end up with a *new & improved* back up plan, eh??

Here's to a great exercise month!!

happy trails........

I struggled through 2 miles ...in 30 minutes. Out of shape to say the least.

My back up plan is the gym.. eliptical and/or treadmill. Plus weights. I really like weights better than cardio and have a terrible time staying on elipt. and treadmill...it is boring.. sometimes I take a large print book and that helps.

Hey Bertadot, read my post titled "read this - very important" - when i am watching the clock, the time goes very quickly (believe it or not!

the gym is my backup plan as well - i am not an outside exerciser; can't jog, and walking i find pretty boring - also VERY hilly - too much so for me to find any pleasure in biking (maybe sooome daaay)

i and my friend have decided that going early-morning suits us (we both have little kids at home), so we go together at 6am. suffering together for the cause. and we do our sprints-slows together too (see above re my other post). this is a very big help

lastly - i find body pump class fantastic. one hour of guided weight-training, and also a cardio workout. sooooo goooood

so: going tomorrow 6am with friend and bodypump on tuesday and thursday,

tracy

Rest day for me, yesterday and today.

My back up plan is really part of my year round plan! I do both indoor and outdoor workouts so when the weather finally says stay inside, I'll just stick with the indoor workouts....lots of variety that includes elliptical, bike, kettlebell workouts, weights, rebounder. I do some at the fitness center and some here at home. I really do miss my outdoor biking through the winter, though!

yanno...I bought a high $$$ gym membership and I very much enjoyed it for about the first year. Then the old pitfall happened...didn't have time to go for about a week, and after that, pretty much fell out of the habit of going. I never set foot in the gym for the last year of my membership. What I didn't like about the gym was the inconsiderate people who would come when they were SICK and cough and sneeze all over everyone else!!....eeewww! Also those people(men and women, alike) NEVER wiped the equipment down after they were finished. Gross! Anyhoo...there are several new fitness places close in my area now; one is a just women only facility. I may check it out after the first of the year.

soooooooo.......boy, did I get off on a little rant.....LOL!
did a short walk today: 62 min/ 3.75 miles/ 208 cal burn/ 7935 fitness steps/

happy trails........

Shelley, the place we joined recently is quite small but that's because we live out in the country. There are 6 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, 2 cross trainers, 3 bikes and weight machines plus free weights. It's never really crowded and everyone is very good about wiping down all the machines when they are done. It's nice to go there and less than 10 minutes from my house. I am really happy with it! And I've got DH and sometimes DS to go with but if they don't have time, I can go alone and get a good workout. And having workout equipment here at home helps on days that I can't go to the fitness center. I plan to make this winter a successful one! I know that if I keep up with my workouts in the winter I will have a good beginning to the outdoor biking season in the spring!

30 minutes on elliptical (with 20 minutes of sprint-slows), then some time on the abductor and adductor machines, finished with abdominals......oh, and walked child to school, with dog and 3-year old (so...slow walking!

4 mi woods walk. Then mowed the lawn to try and get rid of some leaves. The pleasant weather made it enjoyable, but it seems like an exercise in futility as there are many more still in the trees.

We did weights this morning and I got a windy bike ride after lunch - 13.26 miles. I still need to do arm exercises because I didn't have enough time to do them at the fitness center...had to leave when DS was done so he could get ready for work...that's what happens when we all ride together....will be doing the arm work in a few minutes.

Yesterday I did 20 minutes on the cross trainer in the morning and then a kettlebell workout in the evening.

Today I did weights and will be doing a half hour on the bike downstairs a little later this afternoon. I had hoped to go for an outdoor ride but it's too windy for me again (30 mph winds right now!) I'd get blown off my bike!
