Linda...
I have a nurse friend I used to work with, and she made the same connection of her joint pain to sodas/colas. total bummer...but, on the up-side, you are soooo much better off with the good ole H2O!!!

81 degrees at 0550 when I walked...ugh! At least the humidity wasn't a factor at 36%.

walked/jogging sprints:66min/ 4.30 miles/ 239 cal burn
total fitness miles for July = 38.61 miles

happy trails.........

I think I'm finally ready to join in the discussion. Have been working on my walking - new neighborhood and nice time to walk here. So, I usually do between 2 to 3 miles each morning now. its about 1-1/4 mile to my old house, so some mornings I walk over there to check on things. I never thought I would get to walking that far. You amaze me Shelley.

so, doing that, or on mornings I can't - it's WATP. I do have arth in my right hip and knee and know that losing the weight will be the biggest help (and getting rid of my thighs hopefully will help with riding on the back of the motorcycle.

and as of Yesterday, I am trying to bring in some resistance/weight work. I have one of those GymBar things with the rubbery band that lets me do it easily wherever I am. I just have to commit to it.

hey MK!
Welcome to the exercise accountability thread!
and...Yay, you!!! WTG on the walking!
I think it's addicting!...and thanks for the encouragement!!
KUTGW!

today: forecasted to be 105 degrees....uugghh!!!
but, 79 degrees/57% humidity when I left at pre-dawn(0545-ish).
Reasons NOT to walk before sun up...I saw a HUGE-A-MONGUS skunk in a yard as I walked by!!! YIKES!!!

walked/jogging sprints:66min/ 4.29 miles/ 261 cal burn
total fitness miles for July = 47.68 miles
AND...I was able to piece together 9 minutes w/o stopping for 0.5 mile run!!!
then I fitness walked the next half mile, then finished up with another 0.25 mile run! I'm totally happy with today's workout...well, except for the skunk part!

then, I racked up another 2.71 miles mowing the lawn this morning. I'd never worn the pedometer when I mowed, so I was pretty surprised...in a good way!

off to shower...I can't stand me!!!

Managed 3 miles - should be able to tomorrow also - gonna be about the same and the rain doesn't come in until like 10am.

its still work for me, but I'm getting out there.

Welcome Mary Kay!

Shelley, water has always been my main drink with diet soda in between....I do miss the bubbles now and then but overall I'm ok with giving it up.

I've done weights this week as well as time on the cross trainer and the indoor bike. The other day DH and I went for a 15 mile bike ride....I hope we can do another one soon.

We're going to visit my sister this weekend at her cabin on a lake....she has a peddle boat and so I can get a workout peddling around the little lake! It's way harder than biking!

Yay for the outdoor bike ride, Linda!! Has your weather been as miserable as ours?(in the 100s for us...ugh!)

MK...I'm jealous of that 65 degrees! That would feel like a *BIG CHILL* for us right about now! LOL!

My upper legs were a little sore this morning, obviously from running, so I backed off today.
I had to do the grocery store run, and some other errands, so it wasn't like I was sitting around on my bum all day...LOL!

Back to it tomorrow though.

happy trails...(preferably SKUNK FREE!) LOL!

Good Morning!!! And it is a good one because it has finally "cooled off" a bit here. A chilly 76 degrees with a south breeze and only 60% humidity! Love it!

this morning:
walked/jogging sprints:66min/ 4.59 miles/ 255 cal burn
total fitness miles for July = 52.27miles

ran for 12 min for 0.75 mile, then fitness walked 1/4 mile, then finished off with another 6 min, 0.25 mile run. I'm slow, but I think I'm getting there.
oh, and I saw that dang skunk again!!! I'm thinking someone needs to call the Skunk Whisperer!!! LOL! (there really is a business by that name and that's what he does!)

happy trails...

76 degrees/ 76% humidity...but actually felt pretty good. And...we got a little rain last night, along with all the noise(of the thunder and lightening show!...yikes!)

this morning: walked/jogged: 71 min/4.91miles/273 cal burn
total fitness miles for July = 57.18 miles

the BIG DEAL here, is, I ran 1.5 miles without stopping this morning!!! I know that's not a great long distance by most running standards, but I'm pretty pumped about it!!
Now, will I be able to do it the next time?? Was this just a fluke?? Are my legs going to fall off when I stand up??(actually, the legs feel pretty good, so...nah...I don't think they will fall off! )
Who knows, but I'm gonna keep on keepin' on!

happy trails....

Been busy getting ready to go away for the weekend...leaving in a few minutes....had to take a day off yesterday and I'm not sure what exercise I'll get while we're gone....

See you Monday!

Shelley, the weather here has not been as hot as by you.....I'll take some of that heat! It's not been warm enough to use the pool here!

LOL, Linda...I would gladly send you some heat!!!
Lucky for us we had a mild *cool front* come in, so it's not as unbearable as it was.

this morning: walked/jogged: 66 min/4.50miles/290 cal burn
total fitness miles for July = 61.68 miles
Ran 24 min/ 1.5 miles. I started my run on the half mile that's an incline through our sub-division, so the first half mile was the toughest. That was probably NOT a good idea! har!!

happy trails....

this morning: walked/jogged: 67min/4.45miles/247 cal burn
total fitness miles for July = 66.13 miles
ran 17 min/ 1.30 miles. Off my mark by 0.2 mile this morning. Not sure why, but I noticed I felt *stiff* when I got out of bed this morning. So when my legs got that lead feeling at 1.3 miles, I knew it was prolly time to back off and fitness walk the rest of the way home. sigh.

happy trails.....
