| I got the "twice a day" thing not from the instructional video, but from the little pamphlet that came with the tapes. It provides a place to keep track of your measurements, and suggests doing the routine twice a day after the first week. Yesterday was my first day trying that, and I did the routine with the tape first thing in the morning, and kinda made up my own drill mid-evening. I feel like I'm ready for more advanced moves, and the pamphlet thingie suggests a number of positions that aren't on the tapes. I did much of my first workout this morning while still in bed, if you can imagine that! Bahaha! Gotta love it. Sky Atkins since 8/02 186/141?/under 150 |

I am sooooo lazy and feeling sorry for myself. I am hoping that getting past TOM will have me ready to jump in and join you folks in your amazing progress. Right now, I just want to lie around and feel sorry for myself. Y'know times like that, right? Won't last forever. And when it's all past, I'll be back around to join in the fun. *fingers crossed* You all sure make it look like fun... and make me think, "Oh... how far along I'd be by now if I'd only started along with you." | Oh, Bon, I hate that. I was barely able to do my BF during TOM... I did it nice and strong today. I was horrendously bloated yesterday (bad food choices the day before -- nitrates + sugar alcohols) but that is gone and I feel great Now, to stay in ketosis and do my BF -- I'm on the right track! | I won't be around tomorrow to do an official measuring. Didn't do as well this week -- had lots of chemical exposures and not enough water. Didn't feel well enough to really exercise 1/2 of the week -- worked out to about every other day. That said, I still lost 1/2" -- so I'm down 19 1/2" in 3 weeks. That is pretty good I'd say I'm feeling it in my clothing, even though it isn't showing on the scale or tape. I was able to comfortably wear a dress that had gotten quite snug around the waist. It fit perfectly last night -- in fact, I got many compliments on my appearance. That was nice How's everyone else doing? Bon, did you get started? Sky, still doing great?? |

| Woo Hoo! I don't know whether to post this here or in my journal, but here goes: I just got a "new" pair of pants, size XL (that is what I've been wearing lately) and this is the first time I've worn them. They fit when I tried them on: I had to roll down the waistband!!! Yay! It is working Blessings! | Hello Ladies, I was going to sleep an hour ago but caught up in this thread and started looking around the internet for Body Flex. Here is my situation...severely overweight, arthritic knees and ankles, easily winded and currently seeing a chiropractor ofr back and neck strain. The only exercise I get is walking at the mall several times each week. Earlier I posted in the Curves topic about whether that might be alright for me. Frankly, this sounds like just exactly what I need. What do you think? MsCellany 363/347/185 - 5'10", 49 |

| MsCellany~ Welcome to the boards, and congratulations on your decision to change your life. I would definitely recommend giving Body Flex a try. You can get the basic tapes for about $8 on ebay, or of course you can order them from the website. This is a deep-breathing technique that relaxes and energizes you at the same time. There are some "positions" involved in the program that might be difficult for you, but my experience is that just doing the breathing has benefits. Sometimes I do the breathing just lying in bed or flopped on the couch, and it perks me right up. Sharron has gotten some relief from chronic back pain with Body Flex, and I wouldn't be surprised if it might help your joint pain. And of course it's nice to have something you can do at home, at your convenience, although it's best to do it on an empty stomach. I lost a few inches and a few pounds doing Body Flex every day for one week. But I am actually more impressed with how much improved my singing voice is fromt he breathing exercises! So I do think Body Flex would be a good choice for you, but let me add that I would also recommend Curves. That program is truly individualized, and as the others have mentioned, you will find women of ALL ages, shapes and sizes there. Seriously, it's not about cutesy outfits and perky hair, it's about feeling better and getting stronger. In fact, there's not a mirror in the place. As far as the actual workout goes, you can do as little or as much as you want to as you go through the circuit. You spend 30 seconds on each machine, moving your muscles as gently or as vigorously as you wish, and then 30 seconds at a "recovery station", where you need to move enough to keep your muscles warm. Some people do jog or bounce around at the recovery stations, but the idea is really just to recover from the machine you just used, and you can do that by simply swaying back and forth a bit and gently swinging your arms. You can do the entire circuit without getting the least bit out of breath until you build up more stamina. Except for the fact that you do have to switch stations every 30 seconds (the music tells you when), can you slow-poke your way through the routine and still get some benefit from the movements. And it's fun! The cost of joining Curves does vary from place to place, and sometimes the hours of operation are limited, but I think you'd find it's a very comfortable place to be, and I bet it would help most everything that ails ya. Best wishes~ Sky Atkin since 8/02 186/141/under 150 [This message was edited by Sky68lark on 11-18-03 at 07:31 PM.] |

| Ok ...This was fitness week for me. I won the e-bay auction and the tapes are on the way! I am eager to use them in concert with walking and Curves. I always walk at the mall twice a week. Joined Curves yesterday and really liked the staff and the workout. Now I can use the breathing exercises at home too. This should really work! Thanks for all the encouragement. | How's everyone doing? I had a rough week last week -- barely was able to do my exercises. I have to be in ketosis, or I just don't sleep well! Can't do good exercise first thing in the morning after being up 1/2 the night I am back in ketosis and it is showing with my exercises. Doing very well for the past 2 days -- looking for a roll I can tell things are happening in my body that aren't showing up on the tape measure -- my clothing is getting looser. My back is feeling better again as well. I had started hurting pretty badly again because I wasn't able to do my exercises well last week. Oh, and I started walking again. My back seems to need the combination, and hey! It is good for me Blessings!
