Several years ago I began this weight loss journey by doing the Body Flex breathing program. Back then there was no paraphenalia sold along with it. I had a book, that is all.

I did fabulously well, losing over 15" in 3 weeks. Unfortunately, something (I don't remember what!) caused me to stop Body Flexing.

I remember specific benefits with the program -- amongst which were my back and ribs didn't hurt as much. I am currently recovering from a serious back injury (herniated disk) and also have re-injured my ribcage. I remembered the Body Flex breathing exercises this afternoon and did a few of them (as best as I could remember) while I was stretching out. My ribs already feel better.

The reason I'm posting is this: Does anyone have a copy of this that they could remind me of the steps? I remember HOW to do it (a body doesn't forget) -- I'm just unsure about when to hold my breath and how long. That sort of thing.

Can anyone out there help me out? Thanks in advance

Blessings!

I ended up finding a bb (after wading through 10 pages of Google searches!) that was able to help me.

Here is the link in case anyone is interested: http://pub159.ezboard.com/bbodyflexsupportgroup

I found my answers in the "tips" section.

Well, I'm very pumped! This is working towards eleviating my back pain

Actually, I DID jump this morning -- I hopped up onto a curb during my walk. Before, unheard of...

AND

In 3 days on the program, I've lost 9.5"!!! Mostly though, I'm feeling better.

I believe this is the piece of the puzzle that I've been missing. Oh, and btw, I'm doing the version in the book, not the videos. Never even seen 'em!

Sharon~

I've seen the infomercial for BodyFlex a couple times and found it quite interesting, but never did anything about it. After your earlier post, I visited the boards you linked and picked up some more information. Then you posted your journal entry, and I decided to stop procrastinating and try it! I bought the tapes off ebay yesterday, before seeing this post about the book...I wonder if there are many differences?

My tapes should arrive in a few days, and I'm looking forward to seeing how they work for me. If nothing else, deep breathing in and of itself is an excellent practice, so I know I'll get some benefit.

Thanks for rekindling my interest, and I'm glad to hear you're getting such great results!

That is great Sky! I was wondering if anybody had even read this post

As you said, I do the book version, but I know a lot of folks do the tapes very successfully!

btw, my back is feeling lots better. I still have issues, but it is doing tremendously better! Also, I'm down 11" now!!!

Well this is a great reminder for me.

I got intrigued by the BodyFlex infomercials and ended up buying the tapes off eBay for something like $5 a few years ago.

I remember doing the BodyFlex exercises religiously for a week or ten days and losing a good number of inches (and a size or two, in my jeans). So, since I liked where I was, I stopped.

I'd forgotten how GREAT I felt and how wonderful my breathing was, while doing BodyFlex, though. I think I'll dig those tapes out again and be inspired by your results to get going again!

Thanks!!

Kewl Bon!!

I wasn't going to post in this thread again until I had a week's worth of measurements, but I just gotta share:

TOM came last night and I still lost 1 3/4"!!!

Well, I don't exactly feel like jumping, and couldn't do my breathing this morning (I tried though!) but I'm still losing even with TOM! Hopefully, by this afternoon I'll be able to do some.

Normally with TOM I'm so bloated I can't hardly get my clothes on. I'm looking forward to wearing some things I haven't worn in a while, I hope

Keep me posted on your progress, ladie!

Blessings!

Ok, here's my end of the first week results:

That is a loss from:
neck -- 3/8"
arm -- 3/8"
bust -- 2"
upper abs -- 1"
waist -- 2 1/2"
lower abs -- 2 1/2"
hip -- 1 3/4"
thigh -- 1"

And...

Most of all my back and ribs don't hurt very much at all!!! Considering I'm coming off serious injuries to both areas that are only a couple of weeks old, this is amazing.

Thank God for Body Flex!!!

Blessings!

How did I miss Body Flex. I thought I'd heard of everything, but this is new to me. Can anyone give me a 20 words or less type of summary for the uninformed? Obviously I don't watch enough infomercials

Actually, I don't watch infomercials either. In fact, I rarely watch TV at all!

I heard about it way back when before I even started a diet of any kind. I had seriously injured my foot and couldn't walk like normal. Someone told me about this breathing exercise you could do even while sitting... was perfect for the aged, handicapped, etc.

So, I went to the library and got the book, "Be a Loser," by Greer Childers.

In a nutshell, it is very intense deep breathing / abdominal exercises. Gets the heart rate up in nuttin' flat! It clears the lungs and gives us the more oxygen we need for our air-heads...

Oh, never mind. That is just me. I'm the air-head

Anyway, that is a lot more than 20 words, but that is how I found out about it and how it works in general.

All I know is that my back feels so much better and I'm losing inches quickly. That makes me a happy camper

Here's a site for more info: http://bodyflex.com/

Of course, they're selling a product there too, but you can get a bunch of info on the way the exercises work.

Sharron's description is right on. It's controlled, deep, full-lung expansion breathing with specific position-holding (designed to focus contractions of certain muscles).

Haven't re-started yet, myself. I have to dig out my tapes. But I am very inspired by your progress, Sharron!

My Body Flex tapes have arrived, so I took my starting measurements this morning and have completed my first workout. I must say it's a bit bizarre, but the concept makes sense to me. I have long believed that effective exercise need not involve a lot of flapping and squawking, so I'm expecting to get good results from this.

I have been maintaining my weight loss just fine since last December, but I could still use some toning and tightening. Hopefully, this will do the trick.

Sharron - are you still seeing good results?
Bon - have you rounded up those tapes yet?
BC - are you going to check it out?

No. And that's my own laziness more than anything else. Thanks for the nudge. I'll get on that task, for sure, knowing there's a group of us doing it now. Accountability is a good thing!
