Hi everyone! I havent weighed myself in about 2 weeks until this morning and discovered i had gained about 4 lbs. I know this happens when one starts exercising regularly, espceially since I'm weight lifting as well. I was just wondering how much is an average for people to gain from starting exercising?? I've been going to the gym 5 days a week for 3 weeks straight. I usually do about 15 mins cardio then about 30 mins weights.
Its alittle discouraging having gained weight, but I can tell that I've lost a ton of inches. Just wondering when the scale might catch up! Thanks!!

Well Emily, I have no idea, but one way to not get discouraged is to take your measurements....If you can watch at least one thing going down it makes it seem like less of a problem to be having muscle weight gain!

Just my thought

Emily, just a couple of thoughts as I catch up with your post.

First of all, exercise is unconditionally a good thing! Follow your eating plan, and keep moving. The results will ALL be in your favor. I don't know how old you are, but I can vouch for the fact that there's no better way to prolong your youthfulness than exercise.

Although some of the weight gain might be the result of added muscle, it's more likely that your muscles (new and old) are sucking up and releasing a lot more water from day to day than fat cells would. You may observe more dramatic fluctuations in your weight than before--but none of it is fat. It's water. The overall trend should continue downward over time.

Best wishes.
