LOL, Judy! I'll have a glass in honor of teachers everywhere!!! (and a tylenol chaser).

Teel, glad your back is a bit better. Hope it continues to improve so you can feel like your "new" self. Oh, sorry about your kitty, too; I'm glad he's good. Sometimes I think they know when we're trying to help, too.

Oh, and Donna (kystar) is looking for names for her new kitty in the Everything Else forum. What an adorable face! I bet you all are better at names than I am.

Peg, hugs. Don't worry, today I found a better attitude and chose to let go of that which is already gone Even found a small slice of compassion.

Well, it was a better day today. I think I'll just polish off the box of wine tonight to make sure that tomorrow goes as well. It was amazing how many of us were driven to drink last night.

Peg and Teel --- hope you guys were feeling better today.

Benda -- I think you have it right...... choose to let it go. That's pretty much what I did. Of course the good night's sleep courtesy of some chemicals in the system didn't hurt either.

So many weird things have been happening to all of us lately. What is going on? I can sympathize with the stolen property. Some people are just that way and it is sad.

Peg and Teel, how are you all doing today? Better, I hope.

Judy, sounds like you have had a few rough days. Isn't teaching a wonderful thing?! Esp. when you have to deal with everything else, besides just teaching. Our coordinator is a major jack***. He has basically run off our assistant, she can't stand him. Well, honestly, none of us like him, but he was really making her life miserable, treating her as his own personal secretary, which he made clear to everyone that she wasn't. Anyways, she has decided to quit, after only two months.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but you guys know what is going on with me at school this semester. In which, I am still in shock and wondering what the heck is so different this time around?! Or, if it has happened before, those students were better at not advertising it. At last count, we were up to three, (right Judy?). Now, I have lost count. Add one, my supervisor mentioned yesterday that a former student of hers asked her to introduce me and him and fix us up. Now, add one more, possibly three more. I found out tonight, that the reason my Wed. night class asked me how old I was, was because the guys were wondering - since I looked young and well. One of them had asked the older woman in the class if she thought I would get in trouble for dating a student. She also mentioned that they would ask her to find things out about me.

What am I doing? What is going on?

Had to get that out to someone. Sorry, I realize that these are problems that some may wish they had, but the place at which these are happening are very bad for me.

Good news!! I saw 139 this morning, we'll see if it stays for a few days.

Ok, Cinderella.........check my response over in the school thread. It's ok to test the dating waters with guy 3 and with the newely determined guy 4 (former student that wants to get fixed up). Watch out for the others until the semester is over. You've worked hard to get to this point, it may be time to start enjoying it.

Sounds like we are all coming off a few high-stress weeks. Must be something cyclical going around.

PF, that's great about the 139 - I know you've been looking forward to that. Even if it's just a glimpse of what's just around the corner, it's still a nice milestone.

My back is still painful, especially if I bump into something or move too quickly from sitting to standing. Talk about looking like an old lady when I get out of a chair! Still, the pain remains less than it was last weekend - so that's moving in the right direction.

I'm still on antibiotics and feeling tired and unproductive. My weight was 139 when I got up, but only 137 a couple of hours later when I was changing my clothes. I was surprised and re-weighed, but it still said 137. I think that's probably just an anomaly of the scale. Will see what it says tomorrow morning.

My friend's 10-year old daughter is staying overnight Saturday; and then we are going to the Renn Faire on Sunday, while mom goes hiking in the Sierras. I'm a bit nervous, as the girl has never spent much time with me apart from her family. I hope she doesn't get homesick in the middle of the night. She is a veteran of many sleep overs with her friends and cousins, so at least she is okay about sleeping in strange beds.

BC, I hope your friend's surgery is a success; and that all goes well at the kennel. I hope your "students" are obdedient and biddable.

Judy - I hope your studends are obedient and biddable, too. I guess choke collars are out...

Peg - I'm glad your gut is a little more rested. I've heard that diverticulitis can be very painful at times, so I hope you and your docs get it under control quickly.

Okay, Elyssa.....I vote with Judy. Don't get involved with a student no matter what his attentions are (or "intentions"). What's different??? You are, my dear! You look "hot." And you obviously are giving out vibes that say how you feel about yourself. That, however, is not invitation to anyone else to come on to you. You have a right to feel GREAT about yourself and how you look! But, you also have a right to enjoy those feelings without the unwanted attentions of a man. Just last week a parishioner I was visiting in the hospital asked me to 'kiss him on the lips" before I prayed for him. I said, "Gee, I'm sorry but my kisses on the lips are reserved for my husband," and said, "Let us pray...." I get proposals like that fairly often. I think that during my younger years I dealt with it by being fat. But, now, I simply refuse to hide who I am from me anymore. If someone else likes what they see, well, good. But, I am VERY clear that their rude and unwanted comments don't have to bother me because I am in charge of my feelings, and even if I like it, I don't have to act on it.

Teelbee: I'm sorry about your back. I've had back problems in the past. They can just ruin everything. Also, I think that pain is so excruciating because it kind of feel painful everywhere. Hope that it continues to get better for you!

Bren: Glad to hear that you have decided to let it go. I'm not sure that I told you how much I liked the bracelets that you posted. Wow!

Judy: I'm going out to get some wine tonight! I'll drink a toast to you and TGIF tomorrow! Sleep does do wonders doesn't it?

MK: Keep up the good work, girl!

I'm down two pounds and my system has started working again. (I'm a little worried that the state of my "system" has become a topic of conversation for me. I used to talk about childbirth and its devastating job on my body. But unfortunately the topic of that conversation is now 35! Please don't let me deteriorate to the point where my "system" is important enough to talk about!) Anyway I'm feeling much better. Still having little twinges that I take as warnings about some food or the other. I haven't identified what food yet, but I will. I went to the Whole Foods Market in the neighborhood of the church this week. WOW! I found a lot of the stuff that is mentioned on this website for cooking. DH came home and said, "What are you going to do with the Almond Flour and Xanthan Gum?" (Remember, he does the cooking ) I said, "Bake." Hmmmm.

Peace, Peg

The attention from the students is very flattering. Although, I would never act on any of it. I guess since I have never thought of myself that way, it's hard to start now. Now, I just have to be careful that I don't say anything in class that I wouldn't normally say.

But, at least next week is fall break. So, I don't have to worry about these students for an entire week. I definitely need the break. I do get to grade tests, make out review sheets, and make up another test this week. Not to mention that I am going home this weekend to wait tables.

I am not staying the entire week, because I should have some plans. HECK, if I wasn't going in this weekend, I would probably be doing something. That's right - it's what you may be thinking. Guy #3 asked me out today! We had a committee meeting this afternoon, and he volunteered to help me get some things from my car, so we talked. As we went to my car, my colleagues were sitting at the tables in front of the windows that face the parking lot, so they got to see. They were all waiting for me when I got back, wanting to know what had happened. We dropped the stuff off and then stood in the hallway and talked for a few minutes, then he finally asked if I would like to do something.

So, I have a good ending to my weird week.

More later ..... DS's girlfriend was here for dinner, and I need to go clean up the kitchen.

Thanks Peg, I needed that . Actually, I've been a little concerned the last week or so. I am pretty consistently back in the 140 range. That just doesn't seem right or fair now that I am consistently exercising three days a week. I hope it is good muscle and not "table muscle". I'm not seeing that the extra three pounds have affected my clothes any, so maybe I'm not just kidding myself.

Sounds like everyone should have a better weekend, methinks!

TB, glad to hear your back is improving and the scale is being kind. I wouldn't quite know what to do with a 10 year old, but I'm sure you will have fun. She's probably looking at it as quite an adventure, herself!

Judy, you have survived with week! It may have taken a glass of wine or two, but you did it

Elyssa, big smiles for you and Guy#3! Glad your weekend won't be all tests, homework, and/or waiting tables.

Peg, LOL! If ya can't talk about your "system" with friends, hey where can you talk about it! And thanks for the nice words about the bracelets.

Hopefully we'll get more flooring down this weekend, and get some pretties made, too.

Hi Gang!

I'm staying off the scale for a while. I think that I'm losing though because my clothes that I just bought are getting loose! I learned this week that the Pastor that I am filling in for because he was supposed to die with cancer, has decided to come back because he is feeling so well! I'm really pleased for him. We have worked together some, but most of the past year has been me as Senior and him as absent. Because he is better, it is time for me to fade out. (I'm an Interim Pastor, which means that I (and they) knew that I would be leaving.) I've been trying to puzzle out what that means. I'll let you know when I do. The immediate concern, of course, is the cutback in salary which means a moratorium on buying clothes. To reinforce this I just bought the cutest pajama set from Talbots online. I'm going to DD's this month and I needed something a little more modest than anything I wear at home. Besides, my birthday suit is getting awfully wrinkled!

Hope you're all having a wonderful weekend. I'm putting off writing my sermon which, as you know, I always do on Saturday! But, I need to get down to business now.

Don't work too hard this weekend, Brenda, Judy, and Elyssa. I imagine you grading papers and doing lesson planning. Elyssa, I hope your date is smashing. Don't forget to give us the details. MK, hope you're doing well too. Still amazed at your love of exercise!

Peace, Peg

139 (where have I seen this before?) I got a bit carried away with Trader Joe's Flax Soy tortilla chips, a couple of LC Mission tortillas, and ultra dark chocolate in the last day or two. It's the first time I've had the Mission brand of tortilla - they taste "too good to be true". The texture especially is way better than I expect of LC products.

I wonder just how honest companies really make their nutrition lables? I remember reading about how the Skinny Cow people got into hot water when an online group of dieter's got suspicious of the nutrition lable claims. The dieters pooled their money to have the ice cream evaluated by an independent lab. The independent lab found a huge difference from the values on the nutrition info lable. Skinny Cow ended up issuing an apology and revised the packaging.

I've trying to prep the indoor side of wooden window frames for painting. I've tried out out different scrapers and palm sanders. Many years ago, DH and I made the mistake of re-painting some of the interior woodwork with latex - without properly preparing the surface. So, that latex paint just peels off in strips in some places. I got a quote of over $3 k to prep/paint just the living room, dining room and breakfast nook. I know that guy is ~very~ good, but sheesh! So, I'm going to take a stab at doing it myself. If my back can't handle it, I'll call around for more quotes.

BC, good luck with the flooring this weekend. Now that really sounds like a tricky job!

Judy, "table muscle", LOL? I suspect the extra 3 lbs is water weight left over from the weekend. Also, I read that muscle tissue holds more water after exercise - some thread on LCE. It will probably whoosh off with a couple of days of lower carb meals.

Peg - that's pretty cool that DH does the cooking. I found the xanthum gum to be quite tricky to work with - just a tiny bit can be too much. I had a hard time incorporating it evenly into whatever I was making. He can do a zillion things with the almond flour - pancakes, cookies, cakes, breading for chicken. My personal favorite is 3-minute chocolate cake (serves 1 or 2). It really does take just 3-minutes; and you cook it in the mixing bowl, so there's minimal clean-up to do after. The recipe is in the Recipe section, or I can copy it here, if you like.

PF, enjoy your fall break. I didn't know there was such a thing in the academic calendar. I've only ever heard of winter break, spring break, and summer break.
