Peg, enjoy your trip!

Teel, you are going to have one busy week. Hope everything goes well.

I have been relatively busy this week. I still need to grade some papers, make up a test, and make up a few review sheets. Not to mention, getting things ready for next Thursday when I go on a trip to Florida. I have one of my classes covered, now I just need to find someone else to take care of my other class. Plus, I need to know what I am doing in both of those classes.

I plan on going in to work this morning, but not for sure when I am leaving. Hopefully, I will get alot of my work done there. We also have a faculty meeting this afternoon. Joyful.

Oh, a trip to Florida. Sounds delightfully warm! Hope your faculty meeting was not too painful, LOL!

Speaking of trips..... Peg, what did you think of Dallas?

I absolutely hate that our firewall filter at school has cut this site off. On days like today, I would have loved to have something "worthwhile" to do. I spent the whole day in inservice meetings learning to use software that does not even apply to my students' grade level. I was bored out of my mind! The only good thing that I can say about the whole day is that I did manage to get some copy work done during breaks and I made a powerpoint this afternoon when I was supposed to be putting what I learned earlier to use for my class. Let's see ..... this is Monday. Tuesday I have a meeting after school. On Wednesday, I have to be out all day as a member of a task force, then go to another district level meeting after school. Thursday I have a meeting during my conference with a teacher from another district. Oh yeah, somewhere in between all these meetings I'm supposed to actually teach school. Ya think I might be ready for Friday?? Instead of an ABCD (Adult Beverage Consumption Day), I think it will be an ABCW (week)!

Hi Gang!

Judy: I tried to send you an email, but must not have the right address. Anyway, I loved the kids house in Carrollton. We drove into Dallas yesterday for church at the Preston Hollow (Hills, I don't remember) Presbyterian Church. Great church. My grandson is probably the cutest ever. He is 16 months old now and just darling. Running all over, but just steady on his feet. Still trips over his "running" shoes. My daughter and her husband are wonderful parents. So wonderful to see!

I ate Mexican food almost all meals there. It was heaven, but definitely not LC! They don't drink water, so I kept filling up my glass. We spent evening in front of the TV watching the Red Sox! (GO SOX!!)

Back now and ready to hit it hard tomorrow.
Peace, Peg

Darn, I wish I had received your email. I really thought about getting up Saturday morning and driving in to spend the weekend with DD. If I had had any way of getting in contact with you, I might just have done it.

The church that you went to on Sunday (Preston Hollow) is just north of where my son lives. You were quite close to both of them. DD, although she officially has a Dallas address, is on the Carrollton, Plano, Dallas corner.

Was the weather was a pleasant change for you? We did get some rain -- I hope it didn't wash out any of your plans.

Where did you guys go to eat Mexican? If we ever moved far enough away to be out of the Mexican food influence, I believe that I would just have to find someone that could send me ingredients. You would think I was born south of the border considering the number of peppers and tortillas (LC of course) we go through in this house.

I'm glad to hear that your Grandson is cute and has great parents. I know you have missed seeing him and are thrilled there aren't "issues" like with the Calif. DD. Now that you know Texas isn't such a bad place, you'll have to make a return trip. Next time you come we will definitely work out a Mexican food restaurant for a meeting place.

Talking Re: October Tracking

Aw, too bad you two couldn't have met or at least "talked." But it sounds like you had a wonderful time, Peg. Your DGS sounds just precious!

Judy, LOL, ABCW!! Honestly, just the thought of spending a day in a useless meeting gives me the shivers. The last few years I worked, I think that's all I did. But heck, I can't sit that long any more!

DH took a vacation day and we finished the dining room flooring I've decided that to keep my sanity, we're going to put the living room, dining room, and foyer back in a liveable condition before we tear up any more carpet. That means I have to get moving on refinishing the baseboards and deciding if/how I can rearrange the furniture. And also what of the brickabrack, whatnot, and general "stuff" from the hutch and cabinet units to get rid of, er donate, or pack up.

Have to tell you a little story on DH, though. He's such a perfectionist, LOL!!!! You have to know that first......anyway, I left him working on the floor for bit this morning since I had an appointment. When I got back, he was very proud of finishing the dining room, since getting in the last boards required some fitting around the french doors to the deck. He was telling me what a hard job that was, when looking at the solid expanse of flooring I said........"But didn't there used to be an air duct about....THERE?????"

Glad you had a good trip, Peg.

Judy, I understand your busy week. Although, I don't have all of those meetings, I had those last week.

My week, I gave a test yesterday and then had a night class. I just have to make it through Wednesday. That means, I need to get three review sheets finished and get material ready for my class on Thursday.

We are leaving for our trip to Florida on Thursday morning and won't be back until Saturday afternoon. We are going to Valencia Community College seeing what they are doing with their Title III grant. Hopefully, we will have fun as well.

Well the full day of task force meetings is over. Actually it was quite productive. If even a few of the suggestins get put into effect, it will have been successful. Back to "real school" tomorrow.

Judy: Is that a new Avatar? Wow! You look really happy! I'm so sorry that we didn't connect. Dang! Before I go again, we need to exchange pm's to get the "right" emails. We ate at Le Cocina. Or La. Can't remember. Just know I had two margaritas swirled through with Sangria. I didn't care much about anything after that! However, we did have some great Mexican food! We also drove through Se Buenos a couple of times. Great! And we drove through a bbq pulled pork place (they eat out a lot!) My DD cooked steak on Sunday night, though DSIL and I did most of it because Joshua was fussy and needed his Mom for comfort. I was sure that I blew it big time, but dodged the bullet once again. Finally had the courage to weigh this morning and I am only up a lb. Back to lcing.

Went with DH this morning to his Dr.'s appt. just to make sure that the Dr knows all the stuff about him that I do and DH doesn't tell. I felt a lot better. DH's heart is doing quite well, and the Dr even took him off one of his meds. But, his cholesterol and sugar were a tad high, so I suspect that we will go back on strict lc since he is much stricter with the WOL that I am. He has been creeping back to low fat and eating more than he should. It gives me an impetus to eat better too because it means that there will be good stuff in the house and no bad snacks.

We are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Pastor here with the church this weekend. A whole weekend full of activities beginning with 5:30 Sat., and going through Sunday afternoon meal. The Church is a buzzing with activity though I have stayed below the radar so am typing away busily on this and people think I am busy working.

Just finished my lc lunch.
BC: Always good to hear from you
Elyssa: You work too hard, girlfriend
Teelbee: Hope you're doing well.

Default Re: October Tracking

Well, I can see we've all been way, way busy!

138 today - not too, too bad considering I was 142.5 on Monday. I'm pretty much back to feeling normal after the big weekend workshop at Asilomar. I only got about 4 hours of sleep both Friday and Saturday. Then, too, all waking hours were very busy and active. Needless to say, I was totally exhausted Monday and Tuesday; but I started to feel much better by Wednesday.

I confess - I ate every dessert offerred on the weekend. So I was jonesing big time for sweets and carbs on Monday and Tuesday. I staved that off with nuts, lc chips, and pork rinds. Not the best choices for dropping the party pounds, but it seems to have put the worst of the cravings to rest.

Anyway, I'm fully back to LC and cutting back on the salty snacks. I bought some Halloween candy - See's suckers (vanilla and butterscotch). We don't get many trick or treaters, but I can't bear to have nothing for the ones that do make it. DH loves those suckers. Actually, I love them, too; but I find they are "resistable" (unlike "fun-size" candy bars, etc.). I figure he can pass the extras out at work or I can work them into Xmas favors.

We've had some major rain here - stunning, actually. I worked in the yard for a while and the soil is really wet way down deep, which is unusual for this time of year. I'm planning an excursion to the native plant nursery soon, as I have to re-do the foundation plantings (taken out for termite tenting last summer). I want to get some drought resistant shrubs for the parking strip, too. For those of you in other parts of the country, fall and winter are the major planting seasons in California for shrubs and trees. You can still put things in during the spring, but just forget it in summer (unless you want to water like crazy every day).

I'm also still working on painting the inside of the house. Not making much headway, but making some. The paint contractors I contacted all want neurosurgeon's wages for painting. Yeah, yeah, I know they need to pay Workmen's Comp and all that, but I figured they were asking $80-$100 per hour based on the dollar estimate and time estimate. Pulzee! It's not like plumbing or carpentry, after all. I'm not saying the pros wouldn't do a better job, but adequate painting is well within DIY skills for most people.

Peg, you are fortunate that DH is into the LC WOE. I think it really helps to have another person in the house who really wants to eat LC. It's just so much easier when the non-LC food isn't even in the house and you aren't trying to put together two different menus.

BC, I really feel for your DH! After being so careful and creative in finishing the floor to find he covered up an air duct... AiAi! I bet he was just frosted! Still, I'm sure the new floor is really gorgeous and you will love your easy-clean floors! I can't even imagine living with carpeting again.

Judy, even though sitting through meetings is a pain, it sounds as though you got some sense of accomplishment about this one. That's better than most meetings, LOL! I hope you see the results soon. One thing that makes meetings so tedious is listening to everyone else. It's so much more fun to have everyone listening to you!

Elyssa, sounds like you are right on top of things. You've earned a few "well dones" for your efforts. Enjoy the trip to Florida - hope you don't run into any hurricanes or voter demonstrations!

TB: I LOVE Asilomar!! Oh, I envy you there in CA, my home state. Talked to my friend in So CA this am, and she said they have had some heavy rain too. Said that the plants are beautiful, and the mountains were "out" this morning. Sigh. Our trees are baring, and its getting lighter because of it. "Peak" leaf season is gone for another year. Winter is not far behind, though I am not thinking about it too much!\

Peace, Peg

Hey Gang, nice to hear from everyone.

Judy, I forgot to mention that I think it stinks you can't post from work now, too! Miss your more lengthy posts. Glad your meetings were productive.

Teelbee, the thought of planting sounds wonderful. Like Peg, we are in the withering and dull stage of the year. Even the oaks have almost lost all their leaves, and they hang on as long as they can. But in spite of the deserts, sounds like you had a wonderful time, and I'm sure danced many a calorie away. I suspect all your work made it quite a success.

Elyssa, you are too busy as always!

Flooring continues. Baseboards back on in the living/dining/foyer and the furniture rearranged. Everything small is still boxed in the middle of the rooms, but even so, the space looks so much larger Of course, now all the pictures and accessories need to be relocated, everything put away. But that's my job while DH marches onward to other rooms.

I got a commission to make a set of coordinating bangles and earrings and unfortunately I've also procrastinated on finishing the gallery pieces. I get this crisis of confidence every time I restart making things after a break of any length of time. It's pure fear! Silly but true.

I'm back from Florida. Got in around 5:30 pm yesterday. The meeting was long, but we got some good information from it. Then we had fun Friday night.

And after the trip, I saw 138 this morning.

Well, I have some work to do before I call it a night, so I better get to it.
