    Default Where are my veterans?

I have been MIA! Life is busy with 2 little ones, full time job and making time for me to go to the gym! I wanted to touch base and see if any of the "oldy but goodies" are still around. I have posted here off and on since 01/01/02.

    Zip2play - Roger?
Jrjardio - I believe she had a baby.
    Lynn - Marcy?
    Brenda?
    Mick?

countless others that I simply cannot think of right now! B/c I am BLOND! Actually, I am not, but I can use it for my excuse, can't I??

I have held steady for over 2 1/2 years at my 40 pound weight loss. STILL would love to lose another 10 and STILL am unable to motivate enough to do it! LOL

Long lost vet checking in. I have been through my usual Autmn weight gain phase. For some reason I seem to lose all motivation to be lean and mean. All I want is to eat everything I have been denying myself all year. And this year was no exception.
No use feeling bad or beating myself up. I"m dusting myself off and will hop back in the saddle this weekend. Looking forward to being a loser again. It's nice to see some the old gang still on there pluggin'.

If that happens every year, perhaps you have some mild version of Seasonal Affective Disorder? Carb cravings is one of the symptoms according to MedlinePlus (National Institute of Health): http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/...icle/001532.htm

My sister and I both seem to fit at least part of the profile for SAD. Well, anyway we are past the winter solistice, so days are already getting longer! Paperwhite daffodils are already blooming here, so spring is on its way!

Thanks for the warm welcomes Teel and Peg!
Teel, though I couldn't get your link to work, I certainly do have a form of what I call my annual biorythms. The cold gray days and long nights affect me very much. I tend to get depressed and lethargic during the Fall and early Winter. Of course I don't blame my weight gain on that, but I do think it contributes to a certain lack of motivation.
It's great to see you guys again and congrats on your continued success. From someone who knows how tough it can be sometimes.

Yeah, for some reason that link was funky. You can just type "seasonal affective disorder" in the Search box at the National Library of Medicine site. Or, here's another stab at copy/pasting it: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/e...cle/001532.htm

    Symptoms
Depression with a fall or winter onset
    Lack of energy
Decreased interest in work or significant activities
    Increased appetite with weight gain
    Carbohydrate cravings
    Increased sleep, excessive daytime sleepiness
    Social withdrawal
Afternoon slumps with decreased energy and concentration
    Slow, sluggish, lethargic movement
Here's a link to a thread in Everything Else that covers SAD: http://www.lowcarbeating.com/bb/show...ctive+disorder
