I wondered about that... like, you can't step on them, because it would be like stepping on an animal! I thought that looked like a house I could love; but I wondered if there was some catch. ah, well - even Eden had snakes. (suffering from a major case house envy, even so :ivyhead: )

| Those bugs the size of a small state are the great grandaddys of roaches. To make them sound a little nicer, they are often called "water bugs". Those suckers and the mosquitos are what keep exterminators in business. Kim, in the last 20 years, Tyler has become quite a nice little city. It has lots of the shopping and restaurants that you would find in Dallas but on a considerably smaller scale. The traffic though has become awful. The city has grown faster than the traffic plan. I live in Longview --- Tyler's step-sister. Back in the days of the Kilgore oil boom, the rich well owners moved to Tyler and the oil field workers moved to Longview. We never developed the old money base that Tyler did. Even at that, Longview isn't a bad place. OK, when I win the house, the guest list includes Peg, Kim, and Terri. We'll plan the party for some time after the lake gets warm. I haven't skiied in years, but I think I could give it a shot again. |

| Yep, the volkswagon things fly. I'm a firm believer in stomping the little devils. They do make a crispy smush that is ever so satisfying. I always feel that I've done something good for nature when I decrease their numbers. It took me years to get past being freaked out by them. Now, I just see them as targets. ......... Of course if you want to have some evil fun with them, you can spray them with hairspray and watch what happens when their wings get glued down. Uh oh, you have now all learned my secret. |

| Hey Peg.......... I ski on one. When you start the boat, give it all it's got so that I can get my ancient rear out of the water. |

| If any of you poor people would like to share in my abundance of these wonderful creatures, I'll be glad to send you some. We have a HUGE oak tree in our front yard that is surrounded at the base and about 5' up with english ivy. About 1/2 of our back yard is also covered in ivy. It looks great but may also be one of the world's best breading grounds for water bugs (aka ROACHES!!). The best thing about the weather the last two days is that we have finally had a hard freeze and this year's "crop" is a bunch of gonners. I've considered entering some of the ones that we have had around here in one of the contests for the world's largest roaches. I should buy stock in pest control companies! BTW Kim, my worst roach encounter was one day when I put my shoes on to go to work and kept feeling something under my toes........ Yep, you guessed it. He was dead (squished, I'm sure), but that just totally grossed me out. Thank heavens it was a day when I had on socks and not one where I was bare footed or in hose. ICK!

| That is one thing about living in the East where things freeze early. The bugs are all gone! They die early and long! I am so glad for that. For some reason, we don't even get a lot of mosquitoes, even though we live on the water and there is a natural swamp with pussy willows right outside our door. We can sit out on the deck for three seasons and not get bit. No roaches here either. Growing up in SoCA, though, I am VERY familiar with those big suckers. I hate anything that flies! Including spiders. They are the worst! We have them here. But they are gone for now. At one time we lived near the beach and little frogs used to get into the house! I put my shoes on one day, Judy, and squashed one of them! It was gross! I interupt this "Christmas Eve" discussion to report that I have lost a lb. I had the courage to weigh this morning and I'm "down" to 178. Today is not a big eating day, because we have to be at the church by 4:00 for the 5:00 service which I am leading. 100 kids will be there with their parents and grandparents. I have to entertain them with a story, and their parents and grandparents with a 10 minute homily. That is, of course, why I am writing right now. I always do this instead of attending to the writing I am supposed to be doing! Th sun is out. The snow is gone. It's 32 degrees, but with the wind chill it is 16. Feels like Christmas, but looks like California. Even the lake began to unfreeze! Dang! Merry Christmas y'all. Peace, Peg

| Happy "I need to wire my jaws" day! Hi, My name is Judy and I'm a carboholic. I know that this is a disease that I cannot cure. I know this because the ill effects of eating carbs has definitely visited me this week. Over the last two days I carbo binged. I had cookies, and egg nog and lemon pie and on and on and on. In fact the only bad thing that I didn't eat was bread. (No wait, that's not true either. I probably ate a dozen of those sausage cheese balls made with bisquick.) The result of this lapse in judgement and control is that I weighed 143 this morning. To put that into prespective, that's the highest weight that I have been in the last year. I need help!!! Now, I am 5 pounds over my goal weight-- where I would have liked to be 5lbs under. I am now, and have been for quite a while over my "panic number" of 140. The only thing somewhat comforting is that since I have been exercising, at least my clothes have not started to shrink. My daughter jokes that putting a piece of bread in front of me is like throwing water on the Wicked Witch of the West. I scream that I am melting, melting......... Well, it looks like throwing carbs down my throat for two days makes me scream that I am puffing, puffing. I've got to get back in control! It's back to tracking before I suffer noticable results of my lapses. |

| Welcome to my world, Judy! Hello, my name is Peg and I am a carbaholic and a sweets addict! Right now, I have a craving for fudge. Why??? We don't even have anything sweet in the house and haven't had for two years!! Last night's dinner was absolutely out of this world. We ate like there was no tomorrow! Unfotunately, today came. I didn't weigh! The kids are here, Mom and baby sleeping. Dad computing on his laptop. I'm sleeping on and off while it snows. Don't be too hard on yourself, Judy. Remember the time when how much we weighed didn't matter enough to do anything about it? I do. I also remember the lowlevel shame that I carried around with me all the time. But, now I know what to do and will do it as soon as Jan 1 arrives. I'm not going to sweat it until then. I'm not going to LOOK for stuff to eat, but I'm not going to get strict until then. Peace, Peg

| Peg, I just heard that you guys got a pretty heavy storm last night and that people in your region are without electricity. Here's hoping that it hasn't been bad for you. Poor baby Joshua....... snow should be fun, not disastrous. Of course what they got in Carrollton last week falls into the amazement and fools don't know how to drive in it category. |
