I've been off these boards and the internet in general for months and months. My life has been going full force and time on the computer is scarce. I'm hoping to slow down and get some r&r time!

I maintained a huge weight loss for 6 years then my thyroid went berserk! I gained 40 pounds before we finally got the prescription right (without heart racing and all the other pleasant side-effects). My weight is coming off again but gosh, it's so frustrating to have to start all over again. I'm still low carbing and doing great otherwise. I'm just going thru this frustration phase of no clothes fitting and feeling like I was helpless against my own body.

Well, I hope to be back and posting again and meeting everyone all over again!

That being said, I'm going on vacation the 11th and will be gone the rest of September
A much needed vacation into the mountains, lots of fishing, rafting, hiking. I plan on coming home happy, healthy, rested, and THIN!

Grace

Grace, I imagine it's been quite a journey. Congratulations for not giving up on yourself and continuing to work through this issue in spite of the frustration. Your planned vacation activities sound like just the thing for renewal.

Oh Grace, how awful to have to battle something that put you out of control. I know you are pleased to have the meds straightened out and to now be able to correct the devastation. Congratulations for taking control again. We'll be with you.

thank you all. I am doing so much better. The anxiety and depression were really becoming a problem and getting the thyroid getting straightened out has helped tremendously. I've gone an entire week with no anxiety and no depression!

I also woke up this morning to a 4 pound loss. I can't wait to get back to my thinner self!

Who knew a little thing like thyroid could cause so many mental and physical reactions?!

Grace,

The thyroid, as we're learning, is pretty much the control center of SO MUCH! The thyroid plays a major role in regulating the heart, metabolism, our reproductive hormones, depression, and much more. I guess, because it sits between the brain and the rest of the body, it is like a switching station for the signals that go between the two.

(Sure, I've simplified tremendously, but you know what I mean.)

Simply put, the thyroid is an INCREDIBLY important gland, and good thyroid health is vital!

Glad you're feeling better!

Emelia, you are so right. I'd never realized how important the thyroid was. Dr. even ran a CAT scan to make sure I didn't have a tumor! That was a little un-nerving but we had a heck of a time getting dosage right. Everything came out ok, just took some time.

Terese! Are you still doing those push-ups? I tore up my shoulder lifting something and had to take a break from upper body work but I'm back in the swing now. I golf and that's been bothering me but I don't want to give it up. I'm back to doing push-ups but not nearly as many. Weight lifting has lightened up too but I'm slowly making progess to heavier weights.

Grace,

yea.. still doing push-ups. (the best over all upper body exercise there is!!)

I too was nursing injuries this year... but for me it was lower body - achillies and knee.. so that totally puts a damper on almost ALL exercises.

It's so good to have you back again.

Still doing the LC/LF thing?

Hi Grace,

Good things are going in the right direction for you, how well I can relate.

Do you need a good navigator during your vacation? I'm a great map reader!!! <grin>

Have a wonderful trip.
