Thought for Thursday:

One moment for shameless bragging..........I weighed on my way out of CURVES this afternoon and was 1 lb LESS than I was on my official "weigh and measure" day that was the 20th. "Just for Today" I did pretty good. Tomorrow's goal is to keep moving the scale down. 135 here I come (and there I plan to stay.)

Calories: 1703 (humm, that seems to be going up each day)
Fat: 120
Carbs: 55-10 fiber = 45 net
Protein: 105
Water: having a hard time getting enough now that classes have started again.

Well, Judy - well done! A pound down and exercising to boot!

I did better today foodwise; my carbs look high but they were mostly from lots of veggies - and some dark, dark chocolate (88%!). I need to work on getting more water, and cultivating a better sense of thirst. I didn't walk that much either - maybe 15 minutes. The physical therapist tried out several new taping techniques on my foot today. We settled on one that was less constricting around my heel. I'm just not sure I think taping is that effective, but we'll see.

I've had a lot of muscle pain and fatigue lately - especially in my arms and shoulders. Even simple tasks take a noticeable effort. I adjusted my meds (within parameters given by the doctor), but no relief yet. I'm going to try OTC Coenzyme-Q10, which is supposed to help with energy and the effort muscles expend to do the work. It has a lot of antioxidents, too. I spoke with the HMO pharmacist and she thought it might help and couldn't hurt. So, here's hoping...

Home on a snow day!!! Yay!!! I did go out this morning for a meeting that was about 30 minutes from my house. It lasted until 1:00 pm, just about the time that the freezing rain started. Now the ice is beginning to pile up on the 4" of snow we got last night. This is my last Winter here!!!:jump: But, now DH and I are both home; both safe and sound; both working in our offices.

Here are my numbers for yesterday. I gained two pounds in one day! Must be the water! And, perhaps the calories too.

Calories 2082
Fat 61%
Protein 28%
Carbs 27 - 6 fiber = 21 6%
57 ozs of water

I knew I was in Ketosis last night because I was having hot flashes like crazy! Always a sign for me.

peace, Peg

Hey, Peg - it looks like I gained 2 lbs, too. It must be something with the phase of the moon. as my food choices have been rather good (lots of veggies!) and I've increased my water. Oh, well - it will catch up with me sooner or later, and I stick with it.

I'm glad you made it home safely. Boy, I must say the weather looks pretty bitter in many parts of the nation. It was supposed to rain a deluge here today, but instead it was fantastically sunny. It's weird as the online yahoo weather and KCBS weather still show wind and rain, even though it was a lovely day.

I expect it is a flare-up of fibromylagia.

I experimented a lot today with LC baking using wheat protein isolate (biscotti, granola, bread rolls). :cook: Of course, I had to keep tasting and testing. I'm thinking I might feel some reprocussions as I had way more fiber than I'm used to taking in. My tummy feels a little leaden. I'd better be sure to drink a lot of water before I go to sleep.

Somehow I missed that you have FB too, TB!! I'm so sorry!! The flare that I had a few weeks ago seems to have been quite mild. I'm getting REAL close to getting my b*** to the gym to exercise. I'm going to DH's 50th college reunion (in SoCA) with him in May and I want to look especially hot!

Day before yesterday was pretty good, except for the water. I even tracked. But, I didn't track yesterday. I was just a slovenly couch potato. We went out for dinner with a friend and I totally blew it with dessert! Sigh. :o But, this morning my fiber "kicked in" and I got that "natural" weight loss that goes with it. I may have avoided the consequences of Creme Brulee. Anyway, I'm back on track this morning.

I'm, of course, writing here instead of doing the massive amounts of work I need to do to prepare for tomorrow. Because Confirmation has begun, my Sunday's until May 1st are 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM. This includes the usual morning activities as well as a Bible class (don't ask me why I EVER dreamed up THIS idea!) for adults, and confirmation at night. Sheesh!

My best friend from CA and her "husband" come in two weeks to help me redecorate my living room and entry hall. He is a contractor and is going to install a wood floor in the hall!! Isn't that fabulous. She and he are going to give my floor to ceiling windows in the LR a "window treatment" as she calls it. Her avocation is Interior Designer and she has absolutely INCREDIBLE taste. I can't wait to see her. I picked out carpet at Home Depot last night. HD comes Friday to measure and install in two weeks. It means emptying out my TIGHTLY PACKED dining room hutch (Arrgh). This project is occupying the part of my mind that should be creating this morning. (AACK)

Well, off to track in Diet Power and then to see if I can jump start this brain.
Peace, Peg

Oh Peg, what a fun project, and what a deal!!....someone to come and help with the plans and execution. That's just down the line of things that I like to do. Although I teach standard economics now, my undergraduate degree was in home economics. I have a big interest in interior design (even taught a high school class of interior design at one time) and all that goes with it. I really wanted to major in interior design, but back in the "dark ages" my parents thought that I needed to go into education or nursing so that wherever I lived there would be jobs available. My how times have changed. I encouraged my kids not to even go close to the education department when they were in college.

TB -- sorry to hear that you are having trouble. I hope it's a short lived problem and that you'll be back up to speed soon.

The last two days I have been on one of those "mostly" complete tracking spells. I get the majority of the day entered, see the stats, and then never get it finished out. I do feel very positive about the week overall. I have maintained 139 for the last three days. Onward and downward!!

Looks like I gotten a little behind in my 21 days of affirmations. Here's the next installments:

Well, the sermon is done and now it's to the lesson plans for Bible study and I'll do the confirmation stuff tomorrow at the church.

Been drinking lots of water today. Slipped a little at lunch and had quesadillas with lc tortillas. It tasted so good that it couldn't have been good for me!

See ya!

So, how do you quote someone? I just can't seem to get the little icon at the bottom to work correctly. Do you highlight what you want and then click the icon? What?

Instead of going to "quick reply", click the icon above that says "post reply". On the full service screen, there is a small icon at the top that looks like the word boxes you see in cartoons. click it and then paste the quote in the box. The rest is done for you. In the case of long quotes, you can do it by writing your own code [ quote] whatever you want to say[ /quote]. When you write it this way, eliminate the extra spaces that I put in before the q in each bracket.

I did something tonight that I have never done. I bought a LC cookie mix and made myself cookies. I wouldn't have done it except Wal-Mart had Mini Carb Snickerdoodle mix for $1.00 per box. Generally LC baking stuff is so expensive that I won't even look at it. So, was I good and only ate one --- yeah right. The batter may have been the best part, and then I ate two cookies. I have that overfull, stuffed feeling that I haven't had in a long time. And tracking for today........ didn't finish... again. It's a pretty good bet that the scales won't say 139 in the morning.

I didn't weigh today, but I think I'm probably about the same - 140 to 141-ish.

We went to a local mall today to redeem gift gards. DH got some incredible bargains on sweater vests. Some 100% cotton golf vests were $28, a good buy for golf wear (which is normally ~insanely~ expensive). Then, a 100% lambswool sweater vest was less than $14 (jaw drops). I got a cute vest, too. Mine wasn't on sale, alas. But the gift card covered most of it; and DH picked up the rest, as he was so tickled about all the money he saved on his markdown vests.

I literally had to hide my eyes from the pastry display when we went into Starbucks for my double shot short, dry cappuccino (breve). It's a mouthful, isn't it Judy? It took me months to figure out how to order that one drink, so I stick with it. Anyway, they had Aussie cookies (a particular favorite), but I resisted!!!

Peg, it sounds as though you had a very productive day today. Good luck with your busy day tomorrow.

Judy, your LC snickerdoodle cookies sound good! Do you remember the ingredients in the cookie mix?

Teel, the cookies have a texture like my grandmother's tea cakes had --- more of a cake like cookie than the chewey type. Ingredients in the mix are:
Almond flour
Inulin (???)
low-glycemic cornstarch
Vital Wheat Gluten
Whey protein concentrate
Flavoring and spices
Guar Gum
Sucralose (Splenda)

To the mix you add butter, two eggs, cream and water. The batter was quite thin when I mixed it up. In fact it reminded me more of a muffin batter than a cookie dough. I added some flax seeds to stiffen it some. The first batch made smooth rounded top coookies -- like the tea cakes. Apparently as the ingredients sit, they absorb some of the liquid. The second batch were a little more "drop cookie" appearing in form.

I think I'll go see if they still have any of the mixes. At a dollar a box, it will be a good thing to have some baking stuff around. I refuse to pay huge amounts of money for the LC products, but at this price it's time to stock up.

Oh, I agree! at a dollar a box those are a good value. LC baking, with all it's hard-to-find specialty ingredients (which all behave differently), is expensive and tricky at best. So if you find a good baking mix at a good price, you'd do very well to take advantage of it.

Inulin - an assistant at Whole Foods told me that inulin is a form of soluable fiber. Soluable fibers are generally very heart healthy (think, oat fiber). WF doesn't carry it, but the assistant said she thought Jerusalim artichoke flour contained a lot of inulin.
