LOL, TB. I get weary of adding things to Diet Power too! This is the third time in as many months that I have had to start over! (computer crash, etc.)

Today's been pretty good. Water on the low side. I "crashed" right after lunch. Have been doing that a lot lately. Any ideas why? I went downstairs and watched TV and drowsed (didn't sleep) for two hours. Found my second wind and now am "surfing" on the computer.

    I'll post tomorrow today's numbers.
    Peace, Peg

176.4!!!!!!!!!!! Woo Hoo!!!!! (Down from 179.4 yesterday)

Here are my numbers for yesterday. I did better than I thought!

    Calories 1150
    Fat 76g 60%
    Carbs 57 - 21 fiber = 36!!!
    Protein 72g 25%
Drank a lot of water, but I didn't think it was enough. Go figure!

I'm not preaching tomorrow, so sort of practicing my A.D.D. today. Going from one thing to another. DH leaves this afternoon for Ghana, Africa. He'll be gone for a month. I'm bracing for being alone. My neighbor upstairs is absolutely wonderful, and is a great support. I'll be working too. The Sr. Pastor I am filling in for had some bad news this week. The cancer in his liver has produced another tumor, and the current tumors have begun to grow. It's a blow for everyone, and means that I step back in to the leadership role more fully. He begins chemo again on Monday. So sad. He's preaching tomorrow and will announce the news to the congregation. Also a letter will go out on Monday to announce the news. Next week is a guest preacher, and the following week, I don't preach either. I DO, however, have to teach this silly class after church, and have confirmation every Sunday night. C'est la vie!

I'll check in later maybe, or tomorrow with today's numbers. Howse everybody? (I MISS BRENDA!!!)

    Peace, Peg

    Magnificant Peg!!! Way to go.

I'm sorry to hear that the senior pastor is having problems again. Planned or not, that does again change your status with the church.

Re: my visit to the doctor.......... That was one efficient trip. We have a PPO insurance where you only pay $25 for everything that happens on one visit. I had a check up, flu shot, bone scan and mamogram all on the same afternoon. Yes, he was impressed with my current state. He suggested that I might consider taking hormones to help in preventing bone loss. Obviously it would also help with the hot flashes and night sweats, too. I have been generally resistant to the idea of taking any if I could get away without. However, the bone scan showed that I have some bone loss in one of my hips. I do not want to get to a point where that becomes a problem, so I may reconsider the hormones.

More later........ we are off to check on DFIL who had a knee replacement surgery this week. I'll "talk" to you guys again this evening.

A few more things to think about:** Check out the one for the 14th!!

Quick drive by while my salmon cooks.

Here are my numbers for yesterday:
    Calories 1522
    Fat 61%
    Protein 21%
    Carbs 41g 12%

177.7 today. Up just a tad. May be the two glasses of wine last night!!

Here are my numbers for today:
    Calories 1291
    Fat 54%
    Protein 23%
    Carbs 46g 16%

Managed to avoid McD's for lunch, but did drive through for bkfst. (Missing DH's great bkfsts) Packed my lunch, so stayed with LC. Went to the fabric shop and bought yarn to start a scarf for my best friend when she comes in two weeks. Have spent the last hour or so trying to get tech support for my new Dell Axim. Tomorrow is day off, but I have to drive to Boston (an hour) for a Dentist appt. (I know, that's stupid, but I LIKE the guy!) Been having fierce TMJ, and he says that he can help. I hope so. Missed a call from DH this afternoon because I was just messing around putting off coming home! Dang! We said we weren't going to call each other. Oh well.....

Peg, I'm so sorry that you missed your DH's call. A month is a LONG time. I would hate being alone for so long. Did he go on a mission trip?

Tomorrow is an official school holiday but I still will have to go. It's just under two weeks until my "brain team" competes in their regional contest. We need to whole day tomorrow to review and prepare for the contest. WE will spend the whole day working on astronomy --- not one of my favorites.

Hey Jude!! (I've always wanted to say that too!)
DH is teaching preaching at a seminary in Kumasi, Ghana for two weeks and then will lead a tour throughout the country with 20 folks from MA. It will be a mission tour. "Mission" is, in this case, a trip without the creature comforts. They will be visiting mission stations, as well as some tourist stuff, but more mission than tourist stuff. It is, as you may know, one of the major places Africans were held before they were shipped out to slavery. The tour is entirely African/American except for DH.

HEY!! Where is everybody??? I'm still eating fairly clean. Last night was Confirmation dinner with "American Chop Suey" (more cheese than pasta) and brownies (well, salad too which I had two helpings). Second meeting with this group of unruly 8th graders. I had to really come down hard on one of them. Privileged bunch of kids!! Grrr.

177 even today. Haven't been able to track for two days. Maybe tomorrow. I'm at work until late tonight again. Tomorrow I am going to a fundraiser for the Boston 10-pt coalition (a group of 10 inner-city Black churches who got together 10 years ago to address the gang violence and the wholesale killing of teens in the innter-city. They have had a MAJOR impact. Violence has dropped dramatically.) They are hosting a dinner at the Copley Plaza at which Hillary Clinton is the speaker. Because DH is gone I felt okay about paying the big ticket. Should be very interesting.

Anyway, I'll be glad for my day off to come this week. Thursday is the only night I'm not working this week. Even Friday night I have a work thing to go to.

Peg - looks like you are hanging in there.
I'm not particularly tracking - just doing the best I can and work is just keeping me sooooo busy.
Still trying to get back into some regular exercise program (WATP tapes) - just keep running out of time.
Have fun at your dinner - sounds like a very interesting time.

    Random ramblings...............

Peg, You are not the only one here. I do know that feeling though. There are days that I have thought that I was talking to myself, too.

MK, glad to see you drop by. Feel free to chime in and join us.

Peg (again), The dinner sounds interesting. I am not at all a fan of Hillary Clinton, but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't find it interesting to hear her take on things. Is DH's trip part of this same coalition?

Now to the really random type stuff......

*DFIL had a knee replaced last week. Believe me, I don't ever want to do that.

*My kids have contest next weekend. I'm feeling a little shakey about the outcome. We've won for something like ten years running. I would hate for this to be the year that we get toppled. We spent 5 hours working on reviews yesterday --- instead of sleeping in for the holiday.

*DD went to the doctor this morning. He told her that she was a prime candidate to be Type II diabetic. AND, told her she needed to get on a LC way of eating. I've been telling her................ maybe now she will listen.

*Morale is awful at my school. It looks like they are going to totally change the schedule next year and add another class for each teacher..... More work for the same amount of pay..... Let's hope the state gives us a raise in this session. (Texas teachers are not union-- sometimes I think it could be helpful.) I've been topped out on the pay scale for 6 or more years. That's a long time to be stuck without an increase. If we get a state raise, it will be worth it to teach 3 more years. If not, it may be time to look into retiring and going to a private school or to something in a totally different field. I could use another 20 quarters in social security, anyway.

    * This morning, a kid told me she was pregnant---Just had had the test done. She's having a hard time taking care of herself. I don't see how she will handle a baby. Thank heavens she has told her mom. Looks like there will be some long soul searching and discussions at that house tonight.

*Tracking??? Oh yeah, that's what I was supposed to be doing this past week. Well, I didn't actually manage to get all the way through the day most days. Do you remember when I was afraid to stop tracking?? I need to regain a little of that compulsiveness.

Jan. 18: "We must have ideals and try to live up to them, even if we never quite succeed. Life would be a sorry business without them. With them it's grand and great." - Lucy Maud Montgomery, Anne of Avonlea

Jan. 19: "If you have enough fantasies, you're ready in the event that something happens." - Sheila Ballantyne, quoted in Chocolate for a Mother's Heart by Kay Allenbaugh
Only two more days until the DMN finishes publishing their daily affirmations. Even though I haven't been too good about getting them up on time, I have enjoyed them. Most of them have been something I needed to hear and think about.

Maybe I'll make that a project .... finding good thought to post every week.
