    Maybe we should help Donna out some. How about a short (?) introduction from each of us. I'll start.......

    Judy--
    * age 53
    * 5' 5 1/2" tall
    * weight today 138.5
    * Started this way of eating @ 180 2+ years ago. It certainly wasn't my first attempt at dieting, and not even my first attempt at LC. However, this time I finally got my mind around it and stuck with it.
    * married for 33 years
    * high school Economics teacher and Academic Decathlon coach
    * two kids -- both out of college, both live in Dallas. DS is getting married in September and is in NJ for the next two weeks for training, He works for Ortho McNeil Pharmaceutical. DD works for a large mortgage lending company.

    Next???
    Judy
    Goal = <135

    Every bite counts!!
    Change isn't an event, it's a process.

    Peg, that's awsome! What a fantastic opportunity for DH, but I wish you could have gone, too. However, since you are home, you have every right to be very proud of yourself. You know, when the chips are down--(no, no, NOT the potato chips, silly) we are stronger than we think. Sometimes when one thing changes, like DH being away, it seems to give a little space to do other things differently, or at least to exam our usual patterns a little more. Anyway, that's been my experience.

    Judy, so glad you've heard from DH, and that he's ok, and having a safe trip. Yup, I bet it's pretty darn cold. You haven't seen anything until you've seen a fleet of plows do an Interstate. Peg can probably tell you, but they line up, one truck in each lane, slightly staggered with the inner lane in the lead, and do the whole roadway at one time. The outside truck may have a blower, because by the time all the snow is diverted to the outer lane, there is an incredible amount. At least, that's they way they used to do it on the New York thruway. Ah fond memories, LOL!! OK, I promise, no more snow stories.

    Yes, Donna, I'm catching up after an absence, and you can jump right in with me!

    Judy, I AM jealous of your nice weather. It doesn't seem right that you are enjoying warm weather while we are all freezing and digging out. But I DON'T envy you in the summer when going out to get your early morning paper , it's already 90 degrees and the sun hasn't even come up yet.
    Feelin for ya in snowy Mass Peg. I was feeling pretty sorry for myself here after our 10 inches. But 2 FEET?? Dang! Hope you enjoyed your snow day tho.
    Busy day off here. Got shopping, laundry, and even taxes done. Made some MP casserole.
    BC, the forcast is for temps in the 30's this week and even a couple sunny days too.

    Thanks for the welcome everyone, maybe I should tell you a little about me. As you know, my name is Donna but here's the rest:

    * age 55
    * current weight 151 (changes daily)
    * married 17 years (second time around)
    * 2 kids, 2 stepkids, 1 foster child, 3 grandkids
    * 3 cats, 2 dogs of the spoiled kind.
    * I started low carb almost 2 years ago and hit my goal last month. It's been many, many years since I've been this small and feels so good when my hubby calls me "little gramma". I now wear a size 8 instead of the 24 1/2 that I used to wear.

    I find it harder to find low carb products seeing as I live in Canada. When travelling in the states I load up and it usually lasts me a couple of months. I am out of low carb yogurt and I'm really craving it. With the way the weather is, it's going to be a couple of months before the motorhome is dusted off and we head south for a shopping trip again. I'm so grateful for this site, all the people in it, and especially the recipe section. Thanks again.

    Hi Donna! (And Gregg and Kim)

    I'm 61 years young
    5'8"
    Started LC two years ago at 205
    Today I weigh 177 (I bounce from 175-180 dang it!)
    I've been married 22 years (second time around)
    I have 4 stepkids and 2 DD's (all married, divorced, living with someone)
    I have 5 grandkids and one coming in July (DD is pregnant again, Yay!)
    My goal weight changes from 165 to 155 depending on how confident I feel
    All six of our kids are currently working. (Yay!)
    I am an Interim Pastor for the United Church of Christ (We are the biggest Protestant denomination in Massachusetts. We have all the white clapboard big steepled churches on the "Common" in New England towns)
    My DH (He is 71) is the Interim Executive Minister for the American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts. (We have great theological discussions!)
    We both are very active, very young thinking, and excited about life. We have just made the decision to buy a second home in California where 5 of our six kids have taken our grandkids. (One of our kids, one of my DD's, lives in Dallas. She has 1 1/2 of our grandkids)
    I struggle constantly with being faithful to this WOL. I have a rebel streak in me that regularly (too regularly) gives in to temptation. Judy and Brenda are good about cajoling me back into the fold, knowing that to tell me what I HAVE to do will drive me to Dunkin' Donuts faster than the speed of light!
    Peace, Peg

    Oh, I'm another baby boomer. DH and I have lived together since the late 70s, but we've only been married for about 15 years. We have 4 cats; one is a very frail rescue. She's basically in hospice - she'll never get better, so I'm just trying to make her last days ones of care and comfort.

    I've worked for many years as a database analyst and technical writer, but now I'm a homebody. Mostly, just keeping house and tackling deferred maintenance around the house, when I have the energy. It's slow going; at times, I'm very fatigued and have lots of muscle pain - fibromylagia, I'm told. Fortunately, during respites, I can get a lot done.

    I think I was always a sugar addict from my earlierst days, but I was quite active and athletic so I usually wore small/medium clothes. Though I went through a few cycles of gain/lose 20 lbs, I didn't have a real weight problem until I was into menopause. When it got to the point where even large sizes didn't fit, I was pretty fritzed. Weight Watches had worked in the past, but with my revamped metabolism, it only seemed to slow the rate of gain. If I ate the minimum points, I barely held even. I was lucky to lose a 1/2 lb. every month or so.

    Following Atkins, I lost 40 lbs and made my goal weight in August 2003. I'm currently 5 lbs over my goal weight. Lately, I've been experimenting a lot in the kitchen. It's fun, but I'm tending to go overboard with the treats I've cooked.

    Sorry I missed the intro idea earlier.

    I'm 48, divorced for 4 years and have a 22 year old son living in Daly City California (this month). My ex and I have been dating now again for almost 2 years. We get along better now than we did when we were married. I am the youngest of 5 kids. My folks both have passed on and 2 of my sibs have moved, one to Ft Meyers and the other to Westboro Mass. I've been a postman for 22 years. Before that I was a respiratory therapist. I like being a postman cuz I get to be outside. I think I'd go nuts if I were stuck inside at a desk. I"ve been Lc'ing now since 12-29-99. I do well most of the year, but struggle BIG TIME in the late fall and early winter. New Year's day has turned into one of my favorite holidays cuz I come back to eating right, exercising, taking vits and sups etc. I live for tennis in the summer. But lately I've taken up barbershop singing to help pass the winter months.
    Although I hesitate to acknowlegde it, I am a big SAD sufferer. I'm counting the days til spring and when the weather warms up, so does my disposition. I just finished doing my taxes and it looks like with the sizable refund I'm due, I will be ablr to pay off my credit cards! I'm thrilled to death about that!!

    Hi guys! I would like to join in this group to! I haven't reached goal yet, but some people are telling me to put on the brakes, so I may need to revise what a healthy goal should be for me. Ok, bio time:

    43 years old
    5 feet 8 inches
    132.5 pounds today, goal is 130
    Married to my high school sweetheart (we were 15) for almost 23 years (been together almost 28)
    We have one son who is about to graduate high school this year, and has been accepted to Virginia Tech in the engineering college. He is very in to Dragons (hence the avatar and screen name).
    I never had a weight problem until after having my son, and even then it was a gradual thing that just kind of crept up on me. Then came the diets. They all worked, but then they would be over and the gradual gain would start again until the next time I finally "noticed" I couldn't wear any of my clothes! Now I have found not a diet, but a way of life that I can live with forever. I have convinced DH that this isn't so bad, and he has now come on board with me.

    I look forward to getting to know all of you!
