    Come join us!

Several of us have been tracking our daily intake of calories, fats, carbs, and protein since last spring. During the process we have found what seems to work for each of us, and we have created a wonderful support group. This challenge is posted in the Vet forum because we have reached a point where our needs and adjustments are different from the newbies. Please feel free to join in by using whatever program works best for you. In the process, you too may find that accountability leads to an awareness that will help you reach your goal.

Note: as the pages grow, the quickest way to get to the last post is to click the screen name of the person contributing the last post (far right hand column), it will take you directly to that post. You won't have to wade through pages to get there.

Hi Judy! Thanks for opening November for us! I have some tracking numbers from Oct 30-31 but they are incomplete so bag it - I'm starting fresh today with Nov 1. I am observing Parliamentary Elections tomorrow here in Tbilisi and we must bring our own food and drink (water)... I will be stocking up on hard boiled eggs, some leftover beef sticks (brought out by a short term consultant, yummy!), cheese, and maybe even some cukes and tomatoes cut up. in any case, I expect that in limited circumstances (can't leave the polling station - that's when ballot box stuffing takes place!) I will actually do better than if I was free for the day. I'll be on from 6am - 3am (they try to 'outlast' the observers, I'm told).

Fingers crossed that they are honest - at least in my district!

    Hugs,

Rachel, How interesting to be able to observe the voting in another country. I hope no violations happened in your location.

    Today's numbers:
    Calories: 1196
    Fat: 75 (57%)
    Carbs: 50 -10f=40 net (14%)
    Protein: 86 (29%)

I made an interesting recipe for lunch today. It was a slaw with chicken in it. The dressing was mayo, soy sauce, and ginger. I threw in some peanuts to give a little different texture. I got the idea from this recipe off Food Network-- Salad Chinois.--- I left out the oranges (didn't have any) and the Chinese noodles. It was good!

    Welcome Izzy,

Looks like you have been doing a good job. 230 to 184 since February is great. Is 16 a net carb count, or was that your total carbs? If that was a total, you might consider adding in some more vegetables. The fiber from them would cancel out some of the carbs. Don't stay too low for too long, you can stall yourself that way.

Well, I am not at sig just yet, but 146 is very close.

I have been in a bad mood lately, that's what happens when students cheat on a take home test. So, I haven't really been tracking my food.

I was going to yesterday, but I ended up going out to eat, so didn't.

    I'll do my best today.

Okay! Big sigh Another month, and I think I'm just about where you are Judy. No real gain, but no discernible loss.Soooooooooo.....I'm going to challenge myself to start tracking in earnest starting today. Today is a particularly good day to track because I really went crazy! After church I managed to avoid the goodies on the tables. Then when they had it cleared and it sat in the kitchen, I grazed until I couldn't even believe myself! Then I went up to my office and ate my lc lunch. Then I fell asleep on my couch for an hour! Then I drove through McDonalds on the way home and got large fries and a large diet coke. First time in a long time that I have indulged that much. Cooking lc pizza tonight. (honest. It's on the Forum here). I'll either edit this post, or post later.

    Peg,
You'll probably feel like c**p tomorrow. That may be enough to get you back out of the junk food pit. Detox for a few days, and who knows, it may be just what you needed to get started again. There is a really good repost of an old thread called Commitment on this board. Maybe it's time to go back and read it again.

And that LC pizza ---- a version of that is what I made for dinner tonight, too. Since I didn't make the whole recipe I pieced it in to Fitday. It really seems that my counts should be higher. I guess I see how that goes on the scales tomorrow.

    Sunday:
    Calories:1258
    Fat: 97 (70%)
    Carbs:43-17f=26net (8%)
    Protein:67 (21%)

Hey Elyssa, did we eat the same things yesterday? Look how close the counts are.

    Hi All:
Well, Judy, you are right. I do feel like a ton of bricks hit me today. Last night I was actually sick to my stomach. This is the first time this has happened to me. I guess it's really the first time I have REALLY indulged! I did track my day yesterday, just to see the bad news. The only thing I didn't put in was the pizza since I didn't have the energy to get the recipe and put in Fitday. Here's the bad news!
    Calories 2775
    Fat 158 51%
    Protein 101 15%
    Carbs 217!! 31%

I can't believe that I used to eat that number of carbs on a regular basis! But, yeah, I am trying to detox today. I feel really energyless. I have the morning off, but have to go in this afternoon for a dinner tonight. The woman doing the cooking is also on lc. I hope she doesn't cave to "what everyone else eats." Had my Flax o Meal breakfast, and off now to try to make some order in the house before I get ready for work.
    Peace, Peg

Tonight I made a soup recipe that DH cut out of the paper. It didn't sound like it would be awful, but then I ran the number through Fit Day and Whoo Hooo, I got hit with a big load. It's a good thing the rest of the day wasn't too bad.

    Calories: 2103 (almost 2x yesterday's!)
    Fat:151 (66%)
    Carbs:67 - 10f = 57 net (11%)
    Protein:121 (23%)

Peg, I started to say that I'm sorry you got hit from the carbs --- but, is it mean to say "that'll teach ya"? Good luck with the dinner and the detox. And, if you want to come be compulsive about housekeeping, my house would love for you to come on down.

    Hi all.

Pegster -- I don't know how you resist all the food at church. My main associations with church are food -- donuts, casseroles, "bars" and sweets. I would have a hard time on days when I feel tempted. I hope you feel better soon. What is it about religion and food? Aren't we supposed to feed the soul?

Welcome Izzy. You are in a good place.

Purplefrost: you are doing great. Hope you get to goal soon.

Judy -- thanks for the great suggestions. I think I need to go read the "commitment" page.

I did fairly well last week. I ate very LC for 3 days, then ate Indian food and a piece of carrot cake on Saturday. Of course, I regained all that I had lost the week before (3 pounds) and felt bad about that this morning. I have eaten totally induction (with a few extra veggies) yesterday and today. I have decided that I can eat lowcarb "just for today". I am going to try to eat well each day and only worry about that day and nothing else.

I am proud of myself for today. We went out for a drink after work and (even though I had a glass of wine) I resisted the chips and snacks on the table. Everyone else ate a lot of them. Then the owner brought us some chicken breast appetizers (really good!). I thought he must have read my mind. I ate a few of those. Here's to hoping things look better tomorrow.

I have given myself a break from tracking, but I think I will start again soon.

    Thanks for starting November, Judy.
