Wow, I thought someone would get here before me today. I was in a rush this morning. Silly, because I was rushing around madly so I could get to a Yoga class to relax. What's wrong with this picture

I was able to carve out a couple of hours yesterday evening for creative endeavors--I get involved, though, and don't want to go to bed. But I'm very happy with the results. Delighted, actually. It feels so good to do something that uses both sides of my brain for a change. When my mind is busy with new ideas, I find I don't think about food (although I run into walls a lot ) Yoga really helps me with that, too.

How's everyone's day going. Anyone else have hobbies? Anyone having trouble with their woe today? Who else wants to introduce themselves? It's so nice to know a little about Judy!

OK those vets that have been here a while..well they know me!

My name is Monica, I am 33 with 2 small children. They are Tristan age 5 and Haven age 2! I started lowcarbing in January 2002 after the birth of Haven! I lost 45 pounds and have been maintaining for a year and a half. I would like to see 10 more pounds disappear. I currently weigh 165 and I am 5'8" large frame girl! VOLUPTUOUS if you will! One would never call me small!

Hey, but I joined a gym on 01/02 and worked out with a trainer and am now on a routine. I do about 30 minutes of weights and then 10 cardio on my lunch hour. I jog in the morning too!

Today was a good day.

Hey everybody!,

BTW I am gregg, 47 years old, divorced, and a postman. Although I like to think my true self as an unfolding karmic predicament. I've been LC'ing now for about 4 years off and on. I usually do well starting in January, but by late Summer/Fall I tend to stray until January again.

Today I got up early and did some weights and ab work. Then walked/carried/lugged/schlepped through the snow for about 8 miles. Needless to say I'm rather pooped.

Woe is good today, no temptations.

Lol@BC! Hurrying to relax. I sometimes find myself using those automatic door opener thingies when I go to the gym! What does that reveal? BTW Bren, what was your creative activity?

I bought a little keyboard awhile ago and I'm trying to teach myself to play. That's my creative outlet. But since I work pretty long hours, It's sometimes difficult to find the time.

Mon, great job with the workouts. And pleaase don't ever apologise for being voluptuous!

Hi Y'all!

I answered yesterday without any introduction, so here goes:

39, author, homeschooler, kids pastors wife.

Creativity? Well, I love to paint and have a children's fiction chapter book I desperately want to work on, but I've done neither (recreationally anyway) since before Extreme Lo-Carb Cuisine I am hoping that when my current project is done (a low carb quick and easy recipe book) that I will get a break and a vacation! Then I want to do some painting, drawing, creative writing....

Woe is good today. I've got about 45# left to go. I'd lost 70 but regained 20 with various health challenges. I've been struggling since my dad died a little over a year ago.

Yesterday was my 3 year Atkinsversary. I've added Body Flex and Low Carb Jumpstart workouts and some new supplements, plus trying to be more careful with food choices. Gotta lose this extra baggage!!!

Good to meet you greg! Bren, what did you make?? MONICA! I've missed you...

Blessings!

Well Ill introduce myself. I am Deborah,49 yrs old and proud of every year! I am in private practice in a health care field. I absolutely LOVE my job. I spent close to 17 yrs in ministry
and was blessed to travel all over the world
training others. Ive lived a fabulously interesting and challenging life. The best part is my family. I have 3 darling children and two of the absolutely most adoreable grandchildren on this planet. I have been low carbing for the last two yrs. It is the easiest
WOL to maintain IMHO. This board helps me do that!

Hey there everyone!

I am Elyssa, 26 years old. I am a math instructor at a community college. Go ahead, make the faces and comments about math. I get it all the time.

I have been lcing since May 2002. So, in the first year, I lost 70 pounds. And in the last 7 months, I have barely managed to take off 7 pounds.

I have, with the start of the new year, started exercising again. I do 30 minutes of pilates and 3 miles on the gazelle each day.

Today was actually our first day of classes. I hate the first day, going over the syllabus and what not and then trying to start the first section. But, three classes in a row, the day went by fast.

I, too, did something creative today. I finished making a pinata. I also made a sombrero (sp) for it. Tomorrow at work we are having a taco party for our division chair. We collected money for her as a christmas present and are just now giving it to her. The pinata comes in because she is going to mexico over the weekend. It turned out quite well, if I do say so myself.

Brenda, looks like your idea is going to take off. I have enjoyed reading some background on all of you. It helps to know who I am talking too.

Brenda, did you say yesterday that you were making silver bracelets? -- my creative activity is usually sewing.... both clothing and home dec.

Monica, I did LC after both my kids. Be smarter than me, don't slide back into bad foods and have to do this over and over.

Oh my gosh Greg, with your job, I can't imagine needing to do any other exercise. My dad was a postmaster (small class 2 office).

Sharon, congratulations on your Atkinsversary. Although I have your newest book, I still haven't tried many of the recipes. I need to buy some Whey protein, but the only place that I have seen it has huge containers @ app. $30.00. To be honest, I would like to have a smaller jar and smaller price for experimentation purposes. I have pretty much held to the "KISS" principle in the 15 months since I have been back to this WOE. I'm almost afraid of striking out into baking.

Deborah, I agree this is the easiest WOE. I plan to stay with it for good.

Elyssa --- 1st day of school..... I understand oh so well!

As for me WOE was so so today. DH and I had a computer to repair (my side job) when I got home today. It belongs to another teacher's kids. So far we have removed more viruses and spy ware than you can imagine on any one computer. No wonder it wouldn't run. Dinner tonight was pizza toppings. Not the best, but at least the bread is still in the box.

Oh, it was so much fun to come home and read posts from you all! Thanks for joining in--I sure didn't want to be the only one!

Gregg, your phrase "I think of myself as an unfolding karmic predicament"---that's the best phrase I've heard in a long time, and I may just have to steal it!!

Sharron, Deb, Mon, Elyssa! Neato to see you and thanks for sharing.

I suppose I should say a bit, although probably most of you have read my "success story." (blush) I'm 55, (and like Deb, very ok with that),a former director of human resources for a suburban medical center, currently just a wart on my DH's financial heinie I'm Mom to two dogs, a hospice volunteer, and am in danger of becoming a gym rat. As some of you know, My DF also lives with us most of the time, and is a source of constant consternation/amusement/bewilderment

Oh, the creative thing--yes, I'm a hobby silversmith, having taken a couple of years of metal arts. It's been a while since I've done anything, and am realizing how much I missed it. Although don't have a place to bring out the acetylene torch (without scaring DH to death) and the other "big guns", I'm having a ball. I'm teaching myself to make rather elaborate bangle bracelets, and finally made a "keeper" last night

Anyway, it'll be six years next April doing "Zonish" LC, with enough mental struggles to keep me humble, but not too many blips in the scale. This board has helped immeasureably, because I do want to practice what I preach here.

You guys are the best!

Hi, many people I've met on the old board!

I'm "old enough to know better" and into this way of eating (Atkins, that is) since 1998. My job has taken so much of my time, in recent months, that I forget what my hobbies might have been.

My day to day meanderings are all over the board, but you can usually find me here Couch Fauxtato January Activity Challenge.

I'm still a redhead, just took down my Christmas tree (during time-outs in the football games) yesterday, and am pretty much procrastinating on other things as well.

Nice to "see" yas.

That's the trouble with jobs, Maggie. They really interfere with "real life." You know what I mean.

Brenda..there is NO WAY you look 55...40 maybe...55 never! I admire your creative outlets. It reminded me I need one or two myself. My husband and I along with my partner and her husband are taking ballroom dancing starting next week. I am taking painting lessons( with absolutely no hope of being good at it) later in the spring. AND Im learning rock climbing in the summer.I didnt say I would be GOOD at any of this, just that I wanted to TRY these things. My work is very serious life and death at times. I try to pick things to do that really dont matter if Im good or not...something
that doesnt involve anything important but is strictly FUN. Brenda , I admire your talent! and creativity!

Just found this thread, and although today is January 13th, I'll chime in here.

I'm 42. Will be 43 next month. I started low carbing July 1, 1998 at 352 pounds. Twenty-three months later I weighed 189. I've been back up as high as 220, but never again.

I'm a mother of four children, ages 17, 16, 11, and 7, whom I haven't seen in 3 years, 6 months, and 13 days now.

I got married to my best friend this past July and am a step-mother to three kids ages 17, 14, and 9 (they live with us).

I play the piano, organ, and violin. Haven't played in a while, however, because I found out last year that I have severe carpal tunnel syndrome in both wrists and the pain and numbness not only keep me awake at night, I find it difficult to play my instruments. I went to the doctor yesterday and he prescribed wrist splints and I wore them last night and had a full nights' sleep for the first time in over a year. The doc is going to schedule surgery for both wrists in a few weeks. Scared to death about it. I weighed 218 yesterday at the doc's office. 214.5 this morning at home. Holiday binging is over and I'll be back down to 199 before long.

My hobbies include music, 'puters, flower gardening, organizing, cooking, and writing.

How's everyone else?
