Given our recent expansion of members, I thought it might be time for a slight renovation in our title. Welcome all!

Wow, it really is February, eh???

And tomorrow is Groundhog Day! Do any of you remember the movie of the same name? It was filmed in Woodstock IL, which is my county seat, with lots of shots of the Opera House, town square with quaint shops, and various painted ladies --no, no, I mean the Victorian houses, NOT ladies of the night :silly:

That's one of my favorite movies! DH and I watch it just about every time it comes on. Movie locations are always cool, especially when you know where they really are. Part of The Minority Report was filmed in our county, and just across the river from where I live on the Colonial Parkway. Gives you something extra to look for in the movies.

So.....TB? What was that deleted message??

I was back to work today and ran around like a "chicken." Staff meeting and then a meeting with the Sr. Pastor where I had to remind him of some boundary issues with me (nothing sexual!). He is supposed to be on disability, and I am supposed to be the Sr. Pastor. But, he keeps inserting himself in stuff and it makes it very confusing for parishioners and staff. Poor guy! He has started chemo again and is feeling pretty vulnerable. Can't really blame him for wanting to be at the church. Actually, just being there wouldn't be so bad, it's when he assumes the leadership position and doesn't tell me what he has done! Rant over.

My friends left yesterday morning. We worked almost around the clock for three days and nights. I have a new wood floor in the hall and entryway, a new chandelier with gingham shades on candlelight bulbs (red and ivory), new beautiful luminettes on our windows with a two foot high red cornice that goes to the ceiling, lined in gold (burnished) The red has small gold dots and the gold has small red dots. We covered my dining room chairs with the red fabric. Covered my Mom's footstool (very worn) with the gold fabric with gold fringe around the whole thing (looks absolutely darling). She hung all the pictures and he installed a hot water faucet for DH's tea. I got a gorgeous swivel rocker at Boston Interiors and it is being upholstered in quilted red fabric. Also got a console table that will fit on a wall in the living room. They won't be delivered for 6-8 weeks. Also got two ivory colored cubes for ottomans in front of the couch (which is yellow with a large print of cherries and teal leaves) The walls are yellow, with linen trim in gloss. My kitchen is really a part of the room and has all red accents. It was done two years ago. (They painted the kitchen walls while I was still asleep on Saturday morning) I am just thrilled with it all! Feels like a brand new room! I may get the new carpet installed on Friday. Home Depot is dragging their feet.

BC - Soo good to continue to hear from you. You too, Donna and Lauri, and Judy.
Judy: WOOHOO to your kids for getting the wild card! They will rock! I just know it!

Off to study for Bible study I have to teach tomorrow morning.
Peace, Peg

Okay, I'm back in a posting frame of mind. Ended up lurking most of the end of the year, but I need this. So, been reading up on all of you and thinking about you.
My little groundhog is going to be 23 tomorrow, and I'm stuck out of town on business. Not like he celebrates it with us anyhow. we'll take him out to dinner on the weekend. (he just raids our fridge, oven, pantry - the rest of the time)

Peg, understand how you feel about the boundary issues. It is difficult when the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing, especially when there's not supposed to be a left hand, eh?

However, Woweee. Does your place sound absolutely wonderful! Red is my color, too, although I've only been bold enough for burgundy It sounds soooooo mahvelous, I'll bet you can still hardly believe it when you walk in....

MaryKay! I'm back from a hiatus, too. It's really nice to hear from you!! How is the business going? I remember that you were going out on your own, right??

Everyone else, nighty, night!!

So, what did the groundhog say where you are? He didn't see his shadow here, so that means only 2 more weeks of winter. Yah!!! If he's lying I'll wring his scrawny little neck. It's a gorgeous sunny day here now. Not warm, only about 8 degrees C, but it's much better than what we have had. They are calling for flurries on Saturday night, but I always say if it snows in February, it never lasts.

Ah, bright and sunny all day here - it already looks like spring. The paperwhite daffodils are already bloomed out. The hills are green and two of the mimulus plants already put out a few blooms. I don't know what the groundhog is going to make of that.

Peg... Dang, but your house sounds great! The deleted post was just to say I weighed 142 and that I was heartsore over putting our little rescue kitty to rest. It was a bit maudlin, so I deleted it. I also touched on the topic of competition. I do hope Judy's team does well.

TB, I am so sorry for the loss of your kitty. Trust me, whatever you would have said would not have been mauldin to me. (((hugs)))

Well, the forecast here would have depended entirely on what time Mr. Groundhog decided to get up today. Cloudy early, and sunshine later. But no matter what, we get six-eight more weeks of winter.

Would you believe I stayed up until 1am last night making dead muppets? (That's what DH calls my furry knitted or crocheted scarves) What kind of strange compulsion is this, to knit scarves in outlandish colors using strange fibers? I've got two in the works now, and just bought more yarn to make one for a poor unsuspecting friend whose birthday falls later this month. Little does she know........

TB, I'm really sorry to hear about your kitty. I know how hard it can be to lose one of our "furkids". I live in the boonies, and last year lost 3 of my cats to cougars that came right into town. My favorite siamese was one of them and it just about broke my heart. How kind of you to rescue the kitties and give them a good home. I'm sure he was so grateful to you for the warmth, comfort and love you gave him in his last days.
BC...you go girl on your knitting. Dead muppets? You just might start a craze here. I made one scarf with the new wool craze, but just about drove myself crazy trying to keep it on the needles. I still have a couple balls of that stuff around here somewhere. Better hide it, or hubby will decide I should use it.

HI GANG!! I'm shouting because the sun is out! Yay! The weather reporter this morning actually used the "S" word (Spring)! I think there must be something about the calendar turning into February. NOW, I'm ready. Of course we still have about 4 feet of snow on the ground. It is getting dirty and really bothersome. They are calling for snow showers tonight and tomorrow, but nothing of substance. TB: I am so jealous of your flowers showing! I can literally feel my heart hurting....Paperwhites.....sigh!

TB: So sorry for your loss of rescue kitty. I know he/she was so precious to you. You are one of the angels for providing a warm and caring home. Please don't worry about being "maudlin" here! You are welcome to write what you feel! You know, if you do, it opens up the door for all of us to go deeper. I personally love that. And, we certainly have a history of that in this thread.

Donna and Lauri: Great to read your posts. Keep coming around!

Brenda: I laughed out loud about "dead muppets." I'm wearing one today and it does sort of look like that! Isn't it a compulsion!!!??? I'm doing the same thing. I've bought enough yarn to knit several scarves. I can't wait to get home and get my work done so I can retire to the basement and start knitting. It's really cutting into my other stuff (like fixing dinner for myself and stuff like that!)

And speaking of food. I've been indulging way out of the bounds! I'm talking to myself BIG time, but remember that "switch" that Law1 and we talked about several months ago? It seems to be off for me right now. My chief cook has been gone for a month, and I just can't get "up" for it. I've been buying B,L,D, out for the past week. My weight has hit an all time high (181), though I was down three pounds this morning and suspect that there is more water weight in there because I have huge bags under my eyes. I'm constipated to beat the band, and don't see any relief coming. Feeling pretty disgusted with myself. Clothes getting tight. Threw away all my "fat" clothes and so I'm in big trouble if my clothes don't fit. I seem to have lost most of my will power. Or, perhaps a better way to put it is lost most of my will. I remember how miserable I was fat. I also remember how good I felt when I started losing. I remember looking at myself in the mirror and being really proud that I actually looked different. Ya know....my weight is only 4 pounds over the lowest I've been. Why don't I continue to see myself as thinner? It's that "body image" thing.

MK: Re above confession, as you can see I'm still struggling. Though not very hard, I guess. So glad that you are back. I've missed you.

Judy: Hope this week is a good one for you. I'll be glad when you get back to your computer.
Peace to all,
Peg

Teel, so sorry too about your little kitty. It's never easy to let go of a beloved. I feel for you kid.
BC, Groundhog day was hilarious! I loved that movie. I am also familiar with that area. And it was cool to see it in the movies. I hadn't known it was shot in Woodstock, but when I saw the movie, I recognized the main street. dead muppets! lol
Peg hang in there! I can so relate to the will (power) issue. Mine leaves me every year in the Fall. It's so easy (for me) to forget how good it feels to be doing well wen I'm not. And how bad it feels to be heavy, when I'm doing well. It's either a short term memory problem or a "grass is always greener" issue for me.
Judy, happy to hear about your wild card berth!

Peg, I hear ya about that switch thing. For like the last year (before Nov 1) my switch was totally off...or maybe it was on but just wasn't getting any power to it! Either way, for now, things are up, but we go to Las Vegas the second week in March and I don't plan on being a total stickler that week. I'm not going out of my way to eat bad stuff, but not going to hide from it either. What concerns me, is will that week flip that switch back off for when I get back home. That scares me a little, especially since the fourth week of March I "have" to go to Orlando with my boss (also my best friend so you know that means trouble!) so with two weeks in March out the window, it will be buckle down time in April to get back to goal. I 'm sure that once your DH gets back, everything including you will get back to normal. Hang in there!

TB: I am so sorry for the loss of your rescue kitty. Taking in rescue animals seems like such a difficult thing to undertake, especially when the animal is as sick as that one. It truly takes a special person with a huge heart to do that, and I admire you for being one of them.

We got suprise snow today! They were calling for rain MAYBE mixed with a little sleet. Well it did that early on, but then started snowing big time! Really big flakes and a ton of them. That's the kind of snow I love, but don't get see very much of here in southeastern Virginia. It was sooooo pretty....I know, you guys in the north just get sick of it since you get so much, but just snow (no ice) is very nice.(just not 4 feet at a time!)
