| DS cut the deal for the house. Somebody tell me how to insert an image that is not on a web page and I'll post a pic. We may go to Dallas to see it this week since I'm on break. They are excited and we are excited for them. It's really cute. |

| Yea for DS, Judy!!! To attach a pic that's on your computer, hit Reply. Then scroll down past the reply box to the area that says "Manage Attachments." From there you'll see a browse button to search for the picture--just like adding a picture attachment to an email. Find the picture click add attachment (or whatever it says--I forget--but you get the idea. I don't know if there's a maximum size the board will accept, but I usually size them down as I would for an email. Can't wait to see!

| Well, I can't believe that I have some time today! But, I DO!! So, it's great to be able to post. I've just read through this thread for the past couple of weeks. Such a great group, we are!! I'm so grateful for all of you and your commitment to post; your commitment to share deep parts of yourself; your faithfulness in coming back. I've learned so much from all of you. also, you keep me honest, which I REALLY need. I've known how important you all are to me because I often quote one of you in my conversations with other people! "My online friends...." How wonderful to have this forum to share with all of you. Thanks! I'm much much better with my cold. It's still hanging around, but only as a bother and not as something that I feel very much. Dr. gave me Tylenol w/Cod for the cough at night and I LOVE that stuff. I took it last night and slept like a baby. I have asthma, and always forget to use my inhaler. She reminded me to do that. But, my energy is back. Yay! I got up and exercised with DH this morning. I don't know why I don't do that more often. I always feel better when I do! I did Barb Keith's "Skull Crushers" exercise for my upper arms (another thread "Bat Wings Challenge") They are still feeling shaky after two hours! Now DH is making noises about renting a place in SoCa and renting furniture and then moving out there and selling this place. Interesting how his mind works. It really takes him a while to work this through. I'm just letting him work on it. I'm glad that we have decided to drive out there this next winter and then drive back. At least we have another year to make any BIG decisions. I went shopping yesterday and was horrified to find that I couldn't fit into the size that I have worn for a year!!! I bought some SALE sweaters. I can always use sweaters for Spring. It won't get warm here for several more weeks. Bought myself a pretty Easter outift. DH asked who will see it since I wear a robe to preach? I said, "You!" He laughed. Judy: Post that pic. Good for your DS!! You must be so proud of him! To own a house is just wonderful!! What a great guy! Bren: Thanks so much for your wisdom about the veneers. I'm still thinking about it. Yesterday I had decided to do it. But today I'm hesitating. Oh well, I don't have a deadline to make the decision. I think that you do a different kind of kniting than I do. I throw the yarn around the needle. I'm not sure whether I knit right handed or left handed. (I'm left-handed) I hold the "working" yarn in my right hand and the "working" needle in my left hand. One of the things she said about carpal tunnel was just not to hold my knitting so my hand is "up" cutting off the nerve in the wrist. My only symptoms are numbness in thumb and forefinger on right hand. Ho hum. Donna: Walking over to exercise this morning I spotted tulips and daffodils coming out of the ground where the snow has melted!! I don't have any in my yard coming up yet, but I bet they aren't far behind. Evidently the bulbs know when it is Spring even if the weather doesn't! Isn't that amazing??!! We are cloudy today, but it is supposed to get into the 40's. They talked about snow over night, but it didn't materialize. Yay! Supposed to rain today. That is good because it will continue to melt the snow. Grass is beginning to be uncovered. It's all very exciting. Spotted a male Cardinal in the treetop calling to his mate. Ah, Spring. This is my most favorite time of the year!! On the eating front: Yesterday was one of those "eat everything in sight because you may never eat again" days for me. We had a wonderful potluck bkfst at the church. But, I ate bkfst at home too! Had some quiche and terrible choices in carbs. The rest of the day went downhill from there with pizza and ice cream sundaes for dinner. It was another 7am to 9pm day. The scale reflected my sins this morning. Sigh. Well, back to eating clean today and the rest of the week, hopefully. I'll end this tome and get back to the work I planned for today. Have a good day all of you. Keep posting. I love it!! Peace, Peg

| Thanks Brenda for the info on adding the pic. I never even bothered to read the things below the box. I reduced the size of the pic quite a bit. It lost some clarity, but you can still get the idea. The house is about 1400 sq feet of living space. Let's see if this works..... |

| Yea, it worked. The roof of the house looks strange due to the reduction, as does the exact color of the brick. But, I think it is good enough for you to get the idea. Peg, so good to hear from you this morning. I'm glad you cold is better and wish you well for your busy week. We just found out yesterday morning that our minister is leaving in June. We were all sad, but it is a big promotion for her. I know your church will miss you when you take off for SoCal next fall. Re: the clothes shopping --- note my post from a week or so back. I can't really figure out what size I wear. Sometimes it's an 8 and sometimes it's a 12. It all depends on who makes it and what it is. It may be that you just happened to try on things that were made by a manufacturer that sizes things smaller instead of larger. I need to get after it......... you know me, I have to have a project going or I will go shopping. Today, I need to do some more work on wedding stuff for DS --- type up my information from last week before I forget what my notes said. |

| What a great house, Judy!!!!! Just right for a first house. Where is it? My DSIL's folks live in Dallas. Of course, I wouldn't know where it is anyway. Peg

| It is definitely in the city ---inside Loop 635 in the White Rock Lake area. The address is Dallas, but the school district is Richardson. The area is called "Lakewood". Time wise, it's about 25-30 minutes from Carrollton -- under 20 miles from your DD. My DD would have like for him to have picked something more in the Carrollton/Plano area which is where she lives, but that didn't happen. Although it was actually built in 1956, the effective age is brand new. The contractor has not even finished the total renovation of the property. I can't wait to see it. We haven't decided definitely yet, but I'll bet we get over there sometime this week. |

| Judy: Love the house. Perfect size too. I'd be biting at the bit to get there to see it. Peg: Glad to hear you've got those flowers popping up. Can you believe I woke up Saturday morning to snow? It snowed all day, but never amounted to anything where I live. It was gone by the afternoon. In town at my inlaws it stayed for a day. I did a quick check yesterday and it didn't seem to hurt any of my flowers. I've got lillies popping up now. The honeysuckle has leaves popping up now. It's cool and cloudy today but that's okay, the flowers and bulbs need moisture. We went to town on the weekend to spend some time with my father in law who is batching it for the weekend. Took him a lemon merangue pie, his favorite and some double chocolate chip cookies. Nope, I didn't have any! But, I did indulge in a huge smorg of chinese food. This smorg is so big you could never put it all on your plate. I'm a sucker for the seafood. I was actually embarrassed by the amount of food on my plate....and I ate it all. I was scared to get on the scales this morning, but I was lucky and didn't gain anything. I think it's the new exercise video I bought on Saturday. It's supposed to be another walking one...but I think it was made to try to kill me. Was I ever sweating when I finished it!! I swore I wouldn't never do it again, but after about a half hour it dawned on me that I was feeling pretty good. So, I might just give it another try. I know what you guys mean about the sizing. It's nuts! I needed new jeans so on Saturday we went shopping. Poor hubby!! He finally just found a chair and almost fell asleep. I tried on so many pair of jeans, I felt like a stripper I had my pants off so many times. A 14 was too big, a 12 was pretty good, but too short. A 13 wasn't too bad, but they only come to your belly button. Can't figure this out. I finally found a pair that I liked, and he insisted I buy 2 pair so I don't have to go through that again. I should pull that stunt with all my clothes shopping so I can get doubles. It was kind of a sad visit with my father in law. He has prostrate cancer and a bad heart and all he talked about was dying. He's scared I know, but he's got lots of life in him yet. The dr. told him the cancer wouldn't kill him...old age would. It's almost like he wants to give up. Poor guy. He's such a sweetie. I finally told him that he'd better stop thinking about it and plan on another trip with us this summer instead. That seemed to brighten him up. We are planning on taking him back to Saskatchewan to the farm where he was born. He's talked for years about going back and seeing the old farmstead, so we're going to give him his dream. I think it will be an interesting trip for all of us. We used to take them on holidays with us every year, but last year he wasn't well enough so we had to go alone. Having just hubby and I in the motorhome seemed very strange...I actually missed having them along.

| Donna, that is just outstanding of you to plan such a nice trip to pull your FIL out of his doldrums! Boy, I can't get away with anything! For many years a group of us have hosted a rotating potluck. One couple brings the appetiser, one brings the salad, and one brings the dessert. The hosts provide the main course and side dishes. Saturday, our hostess served leg of lamb with rice, mashed potatoes, and carrots - and her DH is a diabetic, even! I had teensy helpings (like an 1/8 cup) of the starchy side dishes, but I ended up eating every scrap of Maria's flan. I worked my butt off in the morning hauling junk over to the neighborhood clean-up bins, so I figured I burned up the extra calories in advance. No way! Up a pound and a half the next day. Still up a pound. DH and I are going out to dinner tonight to celebrate our anniversary; so that's going to require some containment, too. Judy, how exciting for your son to be buying his first house. It looks like a charmer - I love brick! Peg, glad you are finally getting a break with the weather. I imagine the rain will be quite refreshing after all that snow. Keep taking care of that cold - you don't want any relapses, you know. Brenda, I'm a bit envious that your DH is tackling the home improvement project. I'm sure the new floor will be gorgeous. It will be so worth it when it's done; despite all the disruption getting there! My DH seems to think he's retired from home improvement, or even basic home maintenance. I haven't been able to motivate him to clear the gutters, even after I spotted A WEED growing in one of them. Rather than fight about it, I've added that task to my To Do list. I must concede, he did install a new screen door on the back door the weekend before last. It's only a tiny bit out of plumb, too. >:-)

| TB, LOL at your description of your DH! Sounds so typical! There's no end to the things my DH can do--he's good at almost everything mechanical, electrical, etc. However! That doesn't mean he wants to or is willing to do anything, and he's a worse procrastinator than I am. Case in point, cleaning up after supper tonight he says "hey, this side of the sink is stopped up" and then walked off! It will not occur to him to actually fix it. The trap will have to come off and either I will do it, or I'll have to nag......LOL, MEN! The thought of a mostly maintenance free townhome is very appealing to me too, trust me. Oh, and there is no fooling the Calorie Gnome, evil little booger that he is! I will say that the 85% of the flooring that is done is beautiful beyond words. To DH's credit, when he does get himself in gear, he does beautiful work. He's just generally not all that pleasant to be around during the process, if you know what I mean....and sounds like you do! Judy, the house is lovely! I love brick, too. When (not if) you see it this week, take more pix to share, ok? Have a great week off, too. Donna, we've got some daffodils trying to come up, but the weather has been so gray and bleek, it doesn't seem like anything to get excited about. Congrats on finding jeans that fit; that's a major accomplishment. As is not tasting the lemon merangue (also my fav) and cookies. Sorry to hear your FIL is so down. Sometimes it does take a while to process having a serious condition, but it sounds like he's responding to your love for him. Giving him something to look forward to is a great gift. Peg, I too feel such a sense of friendship here with you all. I will say that whether or not you eventually decide to go with the veneers, You Are Absolutely Worth It--let that not even be part of the equation. Interesting the processing your DH is doing over the move. What I don't hear is what Peg wants, eh? Oh, and I'm a thrower, too, as well as left handed. By your description, we both knit the same way, which is regular "English" style. I can't say that it bothers my wrist at all, but I do feel it some in my arthritisy thumb joint. Can't say I'll let that stop me, either! Hey You guys know what a tool geek I am. Well, even though I can barely knit by most standards, I bought myself a yarn winder and swift today to that I can wind hanks into center pull skeins. I did put them on the "Secret, DH Never Needs to Know" credit card I carry for such dire female emergencies. :silly: Other than that, my big triumph of the day is finding a $10 error in the tax return the CPA did for us. Can't even imagine, since I have such dyscalculia, that I would even see the discrepancy, LOL!!! And I paid $300 for their services! Tomorrow little Khaki goes in for her test, so I'm hopeful by the weeks end we'll have a better idea of what, if anything, we're dealing with. Poor pup! She will not understand not getting her breakfast tomorrow. They had her in mind when they invented the term "chow hound." See you all later!

| Oh yes, Peg. I do know it's common among the women I know, anyway. As is the trick of keeping purchases riding in the trunk of your car until they can be safely assimilated in the closet. By that time, you can say with honesty, "what, this old thing? I've had it forever!" LOL!

| lol, I thought I was the only sneaky one with a credit card like that. I mostly use it for my scrapbooking supplies and books, or my little trips to town. Gives me such a feeling of independance. Plus hubby thinks I'm such a good thrifty shopper. (if he only knew) I grew up with a Dad that could fix or build anything and loved to do it. He never watched TV....he was always in the basement in his workshop building something. He built boats, houses, furniture, you name it, it was his hobby. So, I thought all men would be like that. When I got married, I automatically just turned to him and told him I wanted something built or fixed. What a rude awakening I got!! This guy doesn't know the right end of the hammer to use. He could take a business that is ready for bankruptcy and turn it around in no time, but build a valance for a window. Nope. When we bought our house over 20 years ago....it was a fixer uper. It still is. The bathroom floor was rotting, so he ripped a big trench in it and it sat like that for over a year! Now, I can be patient, but that was crazy. I finally hired a contractor to redo the bathroom. And, he wasn't even embarrassed. I love him dearly, but a builder or fixer, he ain't. That's why I have my own tools and I'm teaching myself to do things. He always says, why didn't you call me to fix it. Do, I look crazy? lol I was so worried my son would be the same way, and there he is busy in his own home putting down laminate floors and building rooms in his basement. Must be a throwback to his grandpa. BC: You enjoy those daffodils. My tulips are getting ready to bloom as is the lilacs. Can't wait for them, the smell is wonderful and a sure sign spring is here. My niece planted all her seeds but I think she's pushing it even further than I am.

| I weighed 138 today! I saw 137.5, but I couldn't repeat it no matter how I leaned on the scale. I've decided I would really like living in Portland. Our weather this winter is a perfect profile for Pacific Northwest weather - rain, rain, rain! Meanwhile, the poor people in Oregon and Washington seem to have all of our sunshine and a drought to go with it. I'm enjoying the change, frankly. Before the heavy rains began in the afternoon, I removed a lot of old and scrubby shrubs in the side yard - got quite muddy and tired! There were lots of little daffodil bulbs mixed in with the roots (they finished blooming a month or two ago). I'm wondering if the bulbs had enough post-bloom growing time, as I'd like to stick them in the ground somewhere else. Donna, your Dad sounds a lot like my dad. He could fix anything - cars, TVs, radios, dish washers, toasters ...anything mechanical. He re-wired and re-plumbed our house, and he had no qualms about removing a wall or hanging a beam. He could build decks and and swing sets, other handy things. I also thought the FIX-IT-ability was a genetic trait, like growing a beard. I was so surprised that my first husband botched so many chores. And, you'd think I'd have learned, but I was equally surprised that DH was even less handy, :o . Judy, I know you'll love poking through the DS's new house. Walking through rooms and opening cupboards and closets - find all the fun little hidden features. Even those 360-degree photos you see on the web can't substitute for being there in reality. Even so, I want to see some stills at least! Ah... I've got to cut this short, I'm behind on getting dinner started.
