| Last month I changed the name of our thread slightly so that it would more clearly reflect how we have evolved. The result of that name change is that we have grown and added in many new friends. So, here we go with March. Let's keep track of each other and keep up the support that we all need. |

| Can I join the group? I have been going through treatment for breast cancer for the last 6 months but I am finally done (except for having my port removed). Yesterday was considered "Fat Monday" as we celebrated my being done (and having survived the treatments! :eyes: ) and today I am starting on low carb again. I gained around 8 pounds over the course of the treatment so I have about 42 yet to lose. I know I'll need some encouragement, especially to get through induction again.11/30/03 248/202/160 |

| LB, you are absolutely welcome here! Congrats on finishing treatment (and surviving it, as you say). I think I speak for everyone that we are delighted to have you join us!

| Hey Ladybug! Want an induction partner? I, too am a good 8 pounds up and I think a genuine re-induction may be what I need right now. I am so ~pleased~ to hear that you are all done with your cancer treatments - especially, as you sound so chipper and pert! What great news, indeed!

| Teel, you must be reading my mind......I've been thinking about doing a week of Fat Flush to detox and get back on track. I was successful using it once before, and I'd love to join you all, too, even if it's ok that I don't do an Atkins induction. Misery loves company, right! Let know when you all want to start so I can get some grocery shopping done (and review the book, LOL).

| Well, I'm taking the book home to read tonight and to give me ideas on what I need to buy at the grocery. My husband and I are going to start walking tonight also - my joints just won't take much stress any more. I have to be able to walk 5K by April 16th (Race for the Cure in Indianapolis). Today has been an okay day eating and I have definitely drank more water than usual. I need to find something that I can snack on in the afternoon and still stay within my 20 carbs. I'm open for suggestions. :fork: |

| BC - yes, let's all do this together, then. Getting some good energy building up already. I got out my copy of DANR and plan to read the induction section today. Snacks - I could use some more snack ideas, too. I went shopping this morning and stocked up on lots of eggs and veggies, and the freezer is pretty well stocked with meats from our last Costco run. I got some celery to snack on - a stalk of celery is about .5 g net carb, and it's pretty tasty dipped into a TBS of sour cream seasoned with herbs and spices. The TBS of sour cream is about .5 g net carbs, so the whole thing is 1 g. net carbs. I figure it's filling because of the fiber in the celery and the fat in the sour cream. I also have a brick of cheddar cheese that I should cut into strips. I also bought a can of olives for snacks, although I'm not sure that's a legal induction food - I'll have to check on that. I considered buying pork rinds for snacks, but I'm afraid they've become a red light food for me - once I start on them, I just keep eating until they are gone or I keel over. Ladybug, you can make some crispy snacks by shredding an 1 oz. of cheese (like cheddar), then spreading it thinly on some baking parchment and nuking the bejazzus out of it. I cut slits in the baking parchment and put some paper towels under it to catch the fat that drains out of the cheese. It bubbles up and then gets crispy as it cools. I cut it into pieces with a pizza cutter while it's warm, or you can just snap off pieces after it's cooled and hardened. Word of warning - this is a pretty salty snack, so be prepared to drink a lot of water. Second word of warning - don't make too many at one time, if you're an addictive food fiend personality, like I am. Last week I went through a whole package of cheese made into crisps in just 2 days! Okay, then - good luck, pardners!

| Ok, going to be realistic here. I need to shop and go to the HFS for things like GLA and unsweetened cranberry juice. Thursday, too, I will have a lunch and dinner out . Since FF is really rather strict, even the slightly modified version I do, I don't think it would make sense for me to start before Friday. That way I'll be prepared with no excuses, if you know what I mean. TB, I'm the same way about some foods. There are somethings I just can't in good conscience keep around the house, no matter how nutritious or seemingly innocuous they may be. LadyB, walking is a wonderful plan. I hope you'll be doing so well by April that the 5k will be a piece of, well, not cake, but LOL, something good! This is great. I'm actually excited about being deprived ![]()

| LOL, Brenda! All this enthusiasm is making me feel pretty guilty! Could you tone it down a bit I haven't weighed in the past few days because I am just too afraid. My tummy is sticking out. I look like I'm about six months along. (HA!) Also, I'm so constipated! Sheesh! Okay, so I need to drink more water. I have no excuse! Today I was so crabby at work. I meant to come home right after staff meeting. I was so PO'd when I got up and they had plowed out my car! That meant that I had to go to work. I could not have stood the guilt if I hadn't gone. Of course, this meant that the entire staff had to come since they all live in town and I live an hour away! Of course, I swore my way through the rest of the day. Everyone gave me a WIDE berth! Now, I'm putting off doing the dishes and going down to the basement to relax. I'm still mad! Sheesh! Must be more than the snow, ya think?? Though I am SO TIRED OF SNOW!! We got another foot last night. There is some justice in this being our last winter here, don't you think? Peace, Peg

| Well, Peg, I'm not going to be the role model for weighing. I haven't since July...... ....LOL, you were in a mood today!! Glad not to cross your path in person! Although your grumpiest would make me look like Atilla the Hun. I do think it's a horrible time of year and the continuing snow and bad weather doesn't help any, Peg. I'm delighted that from now on you can choose your weather--ok, envious, but delighted. Funny thing--today it was cold, but bright and sunshiny, and I'm like a different person. Well, I'm always a different person, but you know, like a "happy" different person Oh, I didn't mention one of the main reasons I want to wait a few days to start FF. I need to start cutting down on caffeine tomorrow, so that by Friday I hopefully won't feel quite so terrible going completely off. No caffeine, no grains, no dairy, no processed foods of any kind, but that's ok you guys, you just enjoy those cheesey crispies and don't mind me at all, LOL!!!

| I'm so sorry you are all getting snowed in. The last of our snow melted yesterday (I'm not bragging....well, maybe just a little). It's supposed to go up to 15 celcius today which means it will be gorgeous. Sun is just pouring in my window here at work. Life is good. It feels so good to be able to walk the dogs after work and not have to bath them as soon as we get home. They're happy too! Hope you're in a better mood today Peg. lol Now you all know why my hubby took up darts. It gets him out of the house when I get like that. And knowing men....they will chalk it up to hormones or menopause. When I was on HRT, everyone would tell me to take my crazy lady pills. Now I have no excuse for being crazy. So, BC, I finished my poncho last night. Does anyone know of a dwarf that would like one? This thing is so small I really don't think my grandaughter will fit it. She's tiny, but this is ridiculous. Even hubby mentioned that he doesn't think it will fit. Just have to try it on next time I see her I guess. (we are having "problems" with that side of the family so I don't get to see them much.) Better get some work done. Have a great day everyone.

| Woohoo, sun again today! The dog-girls' groomer is here, and I'll have pretty sweet-smelling poodles again shortly. Well, actually Khaki is done and quite indignant, but she's just too darn cute after a haircut. LOL Donna! Maybe the poncho would fit a large doll? Actually, I was thinking about making a teddy bear sweater as a start to more complicated projects. Seemed less of a commitment than a human sweater to make all the beginner mistakes on. Glad you are having sun. Well, I'm starting on some elements of FF today, although my official start won't be for a couple of days. I got out the required seasonings, found a new bottle of concentrated cranberry juice in the pantry, located the psyllium, and made a list. So, started on the diluted cranwater this am. Speaking of which, I'd better go down another glass. Urp.....

| Well, this is very sad. I've been drinking cranwater all day and have only managed to put away 44 ounces. I'm really out of the water habit--and many others, it appears!

| BC, I'm sure the habit will kick back in soon. This is my first full day of induction - not as bad as I thought it would be, though I may have had too much half-n-half (a cappuccino breve and an "nightcap" of warmed half-n-half whipped with DV coconut syrup and some Thinck/Thin). I'm not giving up caffine, though - at least, not until I get more desperate. Drank lots of water, ate lots of veggies, went for a walk (only 2 miles, but I didn't want to risk straining my foot again). Still re-reading DANR. Oh... sleepy... I guess my nightcap is working, time for bed.
