Peg, same backatcha Can't wait to see the living room!!

Judy, I really enjoyed my first Curves workout this morning. Of course, it will take me a few times around the machines to remember all the techniques (elbows in/elbows out, up fast, down slow or vice versa) and get a really good workout, but I am enthused and I do like the getting in/getting out fast part It's also time for DH to take my bike down from the garage wall and check the tires. I'm gonna be one fit woman before the summer is over.

So how's everyone else???

My living room:
I'm so tickled that this posted!! The lake is just outside the windows there. Do you see it?? Today has been a good day. Though I haven't gotten too much accomplished. Tomorrow back to work. Dealing with a difficult man at church. More later.
Peace, Peg

Kitchen: Just at the other end of the room from the windows to the lake. The mirror seen in the former pic reflects the lake and makes the dining area seem larger.

Peg, I just love it! Very warm and inviting, and I love all the light you have there. The new chair is fantastic, and I love the way you've used the red accents. Of course, I love red anyway. (ok, how many times can I say "love" in one paragraph )I'm wanting to also incorporate some buttery warm colors next time I paint, (even though DH will stroke out) just like you have. Great light fixtures, too. How nice to have a decorator friend, yes? I think it suits you wonderfully.

Mary Kay, aw, one of these days you'll have your revenge on TOM!

Great room!! Like BC, I love the light fixtures. If I didn't have to finish grading a set of projects, I'd gush more.

MK -- sorry about the bad day. I can't use that excuse any more, and I don't miss it at all.

BC -- glad you enjoyed Curves and are looking forward to getting the bike down. It's even better though to see you coming out of the winter funk.

Peg - Oh yeah! I love the wall color and the cranberry accents. I could snuggle in there very happily. You and your friends did a super job in there.

My own decorating project today didn't pan out. I have semi-sheer curtains and stencilled roller shades for privacy on the rooms that face the street. The shades are stencilled on both sides, so the view from outdoors isn't as blah. It sounds funky, even to me, but people always say they like it. The other side of the house is screened by a huge hedge, so I just had the semi-sheer curtains. But, I have greater privacy issues now, so I started decorating some new shades. The old stencil, which was lovely, is really too worn to use, so I auditioned new designs today on test paper. Glad I tested because they all look terrible. Back to the craft store.

Barb, isn't it great that the strawberries are finally starting to look decent again? I like to mix chilled strawberry slices with a TBS or so of sour cream and a bit of sweetener. It's not ice cream, but it is a tasty cool, creamy treat. I once made a "softie" strawberry ice cream by blending frozen strawberries and cream with some liquid Splenda. It was more than passable - even my sister said she was impressed with it.

My weight is still hovering around 139. I've been playing with fire - eating nuts and nut-flour muffins. I'm pretty sure I cannot eat nut products on a daily basis and lose weight, but ... they're just so great for so many things! I think I'd do well to lay off nut products this whole week.

One minor accomplishment - I seemed to be pretty well weaned off of caffine. I was drinking so much strong coffee in mid-winter, trying to kick-start myself. I started tapering off last month, and now I'm down to 1 cup of decaf in the morning. I'll start drinking green tea again after I buy some decaffinated tea. I don't know if it will help with weight loss, but I'm hoping it helps with sleeping through the night.

MaryKay, how is your foot these days? Has it been healing well? I've wondered how you were coping with it.

Judy, if you can make a carton of ice cream last more than 48 hours, my hat's off to you!

BC, I'm glad your spirits are lifting. Grief for a loved one is a strangely beautiful pain. The grief I've felt for my loved ones was overwhelming for quite a time. Then, it slowly recedes, but it never completely goes away for good. And, I wouldn't want it to go away completely, either. It's kind of like a room that's "there", and I can visit it when I want to remember; but the room doesn't confine me like it once did.

Hi, everyone! I am in maintenance, and I'm nervous about it.. I still can't seem to handle many carbs. Perhaps I never will...but I do love atkins, and I have added some stuff. I am so lucky I don't crave sweets... by the way... I love that kitchen!

What a wonderful way to put it TB! For the first couple of years I really dreaded the anniversaries. Then I learned that the dread was often much worse than the actual anniversary. Then I learned to use the "dread" and turn it into anticipation. I used the anticipation to plan a special remembrance in some form (a family dinner where memories were shared, a rose put in a prominent place for a week before the anniversary, a memorial gift made in memory of..,). After many years, now my DH remembers the day with a "check in," "how ya' doin?" and not much more. Some years I need more than that, and I have learned to ask for it. Some years (more than not now) I don't need anything but an acknowledgement from someone in the family (usually just DH) that it is the anniversary. For the first five years at least, the "room confined me." Now, I seldom go there. I give thanks for that.

Brenda: I join your other friends here to see you emerge! Yay! So, how're the floors going? DH leaves tomorrow for a week. I'm going to spend the time doing some repairs around that he "might" get to, but wouldn't do right. (Sigh)

MK: Yeah, how IS your foot? share your "bad days" with us, girlfriend. I have more of those right now than "good days." (Sigh) I was looking in the (sunny) mirror this morning and seeing much more cellulite than I knew all Winter that I had! Dang! No sleeveless dresses in SoCa in May. Luckily it's only supposed to be in the 70's. I can go without hose as long as I wear long skirts and pants. Long pants are awfully hard to find right now. Mostly they are showing capris. Dang!

Judy: Don't work too hard, girlfriend. What a cute DIL!! And what lovely azaleas. We have crocuses blooming, and some pansies planted (not at my house! At the church). The less adventurous of us won't plant anything until after Mother's Day. Though I am having my staff at my house for retreat that weekend, I may plant before that. Today we are in the 60's and everyone is out in shorts!

Donna: Hilarious story about shopping. I did a little damage myself last night. Hid it in my office to come out when DH leaves tomorrow.

Barb: Don't stay away. We would love you to join us often.

Thanks all for your patience with my massive pics. I can't believe they came out so big here! I shrunk those babies down to nearly nothing! Thanks for your comments too.

Peace, Peg

Peg: Thanks so much for the pictures...now you've given me ideas for whenever we get busy redoing our old house. It was to be a project when we bought the house (over 20 years ago) and it's still not done. Maybe this year. *sigh* I thought I was the only one that either hid or didn't mention what I had bought. When hubby got home this time, he looked around and said, my, you did buy a lot didn't you. Good thing I had lots of things already put away. I still haven't gotten up the nerve to actually wear any of the new clothes cause I just "forgot" to show them to him.

Welcome Lou. Glad you decided to join us. I'm new to maintenance also and so far I've been able to keep within a few pounds of my goal. It's a struggle though.

BC: Those anniversary dates can be pretty hard I know. I lost my Dad in November. My sister in law made up a placque with his picture and a poem called Miss Me But Let Me Go. It's really nice, but I'm thinking I really need to put it away for awhile. Everyday I look at it, and it's like I just can't get past the day he died. Just brings the memories back and I'm not ready for that yet. I'm hoping it will get easier as time goes on.

I don't know if it's the apple cider vinegar or what, but I'm starting to lose a little bit of weight again. I'm down to 151.5 from 154. I found Braggs ACV when I was in town and the taste is so much better than the organic kind I had. So, I was able to up the amount I was putting in water. I'm finding my stomach is growling more but I'm not eating any less. So, maybe it is helping to digest the food better and I am going to be able to get down the extra 1 1/2 pounds that I'm carrying. That would be so great.....maybe I would need new clothes? Not!!

Lou, welcome to the group. As you can see by the posts, eating is a topic of discussion, but so is just about everything else. We have developed such a nice support group. And, it's not just the eating part of life that we support.

Decorating: seems the spring fever has gotten to us all. Do you have the store "Tuesday Morning" where you live? Their big ad for the month came out last week and the new sale started today. They had $300 comforters for $80. I knew I couldn't get there before they were sold out, so I put the picture in DH's hand and sent him. I tried to gently encourage him to get there early because they sell out of the good stuff quickly. The store opened at 8:00 and he was there between 9:00 and 9:30. As you can guess, they were sold out of the one that I wanted. I had a picture in my mind of what I wanted to do with the guest room. Because he couldn't get through the crowd, and didn't want to come home empty handed, he just picked something else. I was pretty skeptical when he called me. I continued to be skeptical when he emailed a picture. However, when I got home and looked at what he had bought, it wasn't half bad. It was a little more expensive -- $99--but, not bad. It's a nice plump generously sized set. I hate comforters that are so short that the blankets hang out. The colors are nice so I decided to keep it. It's a good thing that I had not already purchased accessories to go with the other set. I now get to rethink the plan and come up with a different direction.

Losses: TB, you had such a wonderful analogy for the situation. We have all been in your situation Brenda. Losing a parent or close family member (or firend) is tough. But, Peg, the loss of a child is awful. Although my mom has been gone for almost 12 years, I'm afraid that DH and I are nearing the time when we will be in that situation again. My dad and DH's parents all seem to be declining. They each still have wonderful minds, but the bodies are wearing out. All in their early 80s, they are becoming incredibly frail.

MK, I agree, How is the foot? Have you started back to Curves or the Gym again?

Donna --You can come shop with me anytime. I'm all about the bargains. Just tell your DH the trip to Texas is for money saving purposes.......

Hey, TB -- That carton of ice cream was a *big* one (Blue Bunny). If I'm going to go out and buy the stuff, I want to make sure to feed the monster well.

Which brings me to thoughts on eating and how I have been doing such a slip sliding job of it lately. But, I'll save that for another post. This is already a book.

What do you think? I was initially going to do the blue/brown color scheme that is so hot now. This is what he bought instead. Too bad that's not really my guest bedroom in the picture. It's a picture of the picture on the front of the bag.

Didn't see your post, Lou! Welcome. Glad you're here. Thanks for the comment about my kitchen. We did it two years ago. (I did it, really, while DH was in China) He goes away. I play .

Judy: I was shopping for a comforter for my master bdroom today! But, I didn't buy one. Well, I did, but I got buyers remorse and took it back. Need something that has red in it, but isn't dark, or "girly."

The sweets monster is back in full force. Yikes!
