| Hello, Lou--I'm new, too! I'm a little out of my comfort zone in a discussion of decorating--but I certainly admire the tastes and talents of people who do it so nicely. Fitness is my big hobby, and that usually means clearing OUT furniture, not putting it in. ![]() Our corporate spelling team came in fourth in the Citywide Bee. Have you ever heard of a vegetable called celtuce? Neither had we. As you might guess (wish we had!) it's some sort of hybrid of celery and lettuce. Seems like a veggie-holic like me should know all about exotic types--even the spelling! My sister has just given me access to her Fitday account to help analyze why she can't lose weight on 1100 calories. She says low-carb doesn't work for her, but I'm aiming to help her EAT MORE, which has always been one of the LCE advantages. Of course, I will preach her the gospel of fiber as well. Have a great weekend everybody. |

| Whoa! And all I did was read for the retreat I'm doing tomorrow! Dang! I would rather chat with Bruce Willis any time! If I were you, I would have sounded so stupid. What on earth did you talk about? Today was a glorious day here too. High 50's to low 60's. Tomorrow is supposed to be even warmer. Yay! Barb: Just climb in anytime you want to. We are actually interested in exercising too! Just a momentary detour into decorating. My best friend flew out from SoCa in Jan. to help me decorate. Believe me I am not that talented! I was excited to tell all of you because I am hopefully friend challenged, and this is the forum where you all are! Eating today fair. No sweets.........yet. It's only 7:30! Peace, Peg

| Oh, such a fantastic, glorious day here, too!!! Yes, way cool, MK. I'm sure I would have been an extreme dufus trying to chat with anyone famous. Neato. Got DH off to FL this afternoon. Oh, what a headache getting out of O'Hare. Why are all construction projects planned to squeeze the most traffic into the smallest spaces. But home, and took doggies for a nice long walk, while also dropping a book off at the branch library. Eating good today, too. Supper was some yummy Texas barbeque over a big bowl of mixed greens Barb, celtuce is a new one on me, too. Sounds interesting, though. Good luck with helping your sister. I'm sure if she's ready, you can show her the ropes. And I'm not a great decorator, either, but I do admire nice spaces and well done rooms. Donna, I bet your yard is beautiful. You'll have to show us some pix.

| Hmmm... seems like I'm the one out of step today. Lots of wet, wet rain. Had quite a lapse with eating today. But, still very productive. I've been working on getting the house ready to show and it's keeping me really busy and active. This week, I lucked into finding a terrific handyman to help me. He's so amiable, capable, honest, fast, and modest, too. He cheerfully tackles really dirty, backbreaking jobs. Things that take me days or weeks, he gets done in a few hours. My prayers were certainly answered in a way that exceeded all expectations (thanks for your prayers, Peg... I'm sure that had something to do with it). I am ~so~ grateful for this great good fortune. We had quite a time yesterday trying to move an oversize entertainment center from the bedroom to the garage. It got stuck in the hallway between the door frame and the wall. We took off the door and ~almost~ made it through. We shoved and shoved, we took off the protective cover and I really thought that would give us the fraction of an inch we needed. Even though we were gouging the door frame - it still needed another bit; probably no more than 16th of an inch. Very frustrating! Because I was blocked in the bedroom, he handed me a step stool over the top of the cabinet. I levered myself over the top and dropped to the floor. Not a bad feat for an old bag like me! Anyway, I went to the workshop to get a plane to shave off a bit of a corner on the back side where it wouldn't show. When I came back in, he was turning the whole thing over on it's side - it must weight several hundred pounds. I yelped and ran to help but he had it under control. So, whew! And you know what? He's not a big guy, he's a good inch or two shorter than me (5'4"). I wonder how DH and I ever got it in the bedroom in the first place? I work along side him, except when I have to go out on errands or when I'm cooking for him. He comes by bus from the next county, which is a long ride. So I make sure he gets something to eat when he gets here and before he leaves. And, I make a big lunch for us. Up until dinner tonight, I was eating very strict LC and my weight weight down to 137 the last two days, maybe lower. But, today I caved and ate a couple of the non-LC cookies I made for DH and the handyman. And, that was on top of some unwise, albeit, legal LC choices (pork rinds, extra strawberries, and an LC tortilla). I had no trouble resisting all the other goodies I baked all week. But, tonight I was tired, so DH got take out. The place we favor normally has wonderful food, but my ginger chicken salad was not good at all. It used to be an excellent dish, too. So I was disappointed; and there were those chocolate chip/PB cookies sitting around just begging to console me.The only saving grace is that I stopped at three instead of diving in face first and eating until they were gone (straining to pat myself on the back here). So, I'm glad you are all enjoying fine weather while we Californians sit here growing mushrooms in our pockets Yeah, MaryKay - chatting with a celebrity. How cools is that? BC, I'd be a dufus in that situation, too. I'm not really a BW fan, though I liked that Blue Moon Dective Agency show he had years ago. Celtuce, eh? That's a new one on me Barb. Where the heck do they sell that? Sometimes, when I'm feeling flush, I shop at a great Italian market with a fantastic produce section. I've never seen it there, and they have every other weird thing you could think of in the way of vegetables. Donna, I bet your lillies will be brilliant this summer. You will post pictures when they bloom, won't you? I planted some lilly bulbs a few months ago. They are about 18 inches tall now, but I don't really remember what they are supposed to look like. I'm curious to see how they turn out. My garden is rather pretty now - iris are blooming, the poppies are getting going, and the winter annuals still look decent. Judy, the only other thing I remember about Tyler is that the HGTV show place house is around there somewhere. So, that's an especially good thing, IMO. It sure looks beautiful.

| TB, how nice to hear from you. Oh, I'm delighted you found a good handyman (and a strong one, too). That sounds like quite a job you two had with the entertainment center. I knew you were thinking about moving to a more amenable place, but I didn't realize you were serious enough at this point to be getting ready to show. With all the work you've been doing, inside and out, I'll bet your home will look wonderful. ( And don't you love being small enough to hike yourself over that hunk of furniture All I have are narcissus blooming :( Some things are budding, but its still too early for almost everything here. Another week or so of warmth, though, and it will look like spring, finally. You've been working very hard; I think the cookies are probably a very minor detour.

| LOL, I meant, "hopelessly" friend-challenged, not "hopefully." Speaking of dufus's! Just got back from a retreat I led this morning. Now I'm going to start putting up curtains, sheers, and lamps in the bedroom. Oh, I'll take it all out when I paint, but I want it to look different when DH gets home! :silly: Going out to dinner with a friend here. (See, I do have ONE!) So, I'm getting busy! Peace, Peg

| Peg, we must be on the same wave length (TB, you too.) Remember earlier this week DH bought the comforter. Today I did the HGTV under $500 in under one day decorating thing. I didn't even leave the house to start shopping until about 1:00. I did know pretty much what I was looking for so that was a big help. I bought two new art pieces at Kirkland's (I love that place, and they were on sale 20% off on top of everything), pillows for the shams at Penney's and blinds, curtains, rods, linens and throw pillows at that famous decorating stop, Wal-Mart. They were actually both cheaper and prettier than the ones that I found in Penney's and a couple of other places. Since I'm all about bargains, I snatched them up. I was home before 5:00 and was totally finished with the whole makeover before 9:00. I had a wonderful time. I absolutely love doing this kind of stuff. DH on the other hand, is not nearly as excited about decorating. At least he was in tolerant resignation instead of outright griping about my changes. |

| Judy, it's smashing! I'm very impressed that you accomplished such a great look with so little time and a micro-budget. Well done, indeed!

| Great job, Judy! Love the way you've pulled the colors together with the artwork and shams (Maybe you need a handyman like TB for painting; or the threat of one :insert evil grin here:

| What a wonderful thread! All of you seem to be such good friends. Care if I join you? I am having a hard time with maintenance or pre-maintenance. I haven't even gotten to my goal yet of 125. I did get to 126 a while back, but have been going back and forth between 127 and 128 forever! I do know what it is . . . too many low carb sweets and not enough exercise. Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

| Alida, you are absolutely welcome here. Most of us have found maintenance or there abouts to be a something of a challenge and its great to have the support of these great folks along the journey. As you can see see we talk about lots of other things, too, after all, "real life" is more than losing weight, but all things seem to interact our eating, anyway! You've done just great, so many congratulations on your accomplishment! I hope you'll feel free to just jump in here anywhere, anytime... OK, "Some" of you are having a bad influence on me. I bought a new coverlet at Tuesday Morning yesterday. No new decorating scheme, the coverlet is a burgundy suede look washable microfiber that goes with the "old" look. I really wasn't shopping, but had been thinking something washable to replace the nice, but dry clean only number I've had for a while. Really, after you've had dogs throw up on them a number of times, dry clean loses it's appeal :o Unfortunately, somewhere on the excursion, I lost a big chunky silver bracelet. I rarely ever make anything for myself any more, and this was one I really wanted to keep as my own. Dang. I've already done some yard work this afternoon, which frankly I'm not all that thrilled about, and have the blister to prove it. Wish I did enjoy it as much as some of you, since I have plenty to do. But I also need to clean house, pay bills, make jewelry, sheesh! Where is this "girl" time I'm supposed to be having with DH away Peg, I knew exactly what you meant... Hope this "work day" for you is going well. Everyone else

| Alida, your are most definitely welcome. You are not the only one that has struggles. We have all been there -- or are there now. The one thing that we know is that we need each other. Please feel free to join in and be part of our group. As BC said, life is not all about eating, but it sure looks like the other things have an impact on it. The fact that we check in here everyday helps to keep us in touch with this WOE whether it is what we are talking about ir not. BC-- sorry to have been a bad influence on your budget. I bet the new comforter looks good, and that washable aspect is definitely a good thing. I have an off-white canvas slipcover on a chair in the bedroom picture above. It came off and got washed and bleached yesterday. Nikki (the dog) seems to love to come rub her face all over it. Peg, how can you say that you are friendship challenged -- you have us! (BC, you too!) Teel, would you loan me your handy man! I have several projects (mostly outside) that could use a motivated man. I wonder if his wife can get him to do stuff at home? Barb, don't wander away because we are in a spring nesting mode. We need to get into a spring exercise mode. Maybe you can motivate us. |

| Hi all! Quick fly by before I take off for Confirmation. Came home for a wedding this aft. Got my drapes up, my comforter on, my lamps hung, the bedruffle ironed and on. Good to go. DH gets home tonight. Good thing he doesn't open closets (except his own). There are tools all over the place in favor of making it "look clean." (though, to tell the truth, he doesn't notice that either) I know he will notice the bedroom because the lamps and the drapes are RED!! I was BAD, BAD, BAD yesterday. I can't even confess how bad I was. Let's just say I don't remember such a bad eating day since I started lc. My body is bloated beyond belief today. Sheesh! Luckily, tomorrow's another day. Alida: So glad to see you. Please just jump in. We love company and the prospect of deepening into another relationship. I'll check in tomorrow. Peace, Peg
