| Whew... busy day with many appointments, plus taking the cats over to DSis's house for care while we go to Arizona for Dave's niece's graduation. We'll be gone 5 days. My realtor called saying our buyers want to come in to "take measurements" tomorrow. No advance notice, mind you . We're not wanting that as we will be out of town and will have the burglar alarm on. So, we offerred an architect's drawing that was done when we did a bathroom remodel. It's quite nice and shows the dimensions for each room. That was rejected, to my surprise. Apparently, what they ~really~ wanted was to have access for a painter, floor man, furnace/AC, etc., etc. Hey... we live here... we still own the house until June 3, and then we have a rent back for 4 more weeks! I know they are just excited and eager to get going - heck, I feel the same way about the place were moving to (not that I've asked them for early access or measurements). Lord, give me patience! Yesterday, we received a request from the sellers to stay longer in the place we're buying. I wish we could accommodate their request, but I for sure don't want to ask our buyers for an extension! I hate having to say no to people. Anyway, it will be good for me to escape for a few days. Arizona in the summer isn't my first choice as a get-away destination, but it will be so great to be a part of DN's graduation celebration. You guys all be good while I'm gone! No parties, no staying up late, no necking with strange boys. :eyes:

| Hey, TB! No need to feel bad about letting people into your home when you aren't there. They can wait a couple of days, for pete's sake. You have a wonderful getaway--you deserve it. Must admit, though, I was waiting for your departure to neck with a strange boy or two

| Shelley, I'm glad you've come to a new realization about what you need to do. I'm a fitday freak--everything gets written down, and it really does make a difference in my awareness. I do mentally measure portions, and sometimes REALLY when I suspect I'm getting overly generous. I don't think of "low fat" as one of my goals, but I have definitely taken steps to reduce the fat calories. No more bacon and eggs for breakfast--flaxseed cereal instead. Half-n-half instead of cream (that's a huge calorie saver!). Lite Done Right salad dressings from Kraft--low carb and lower cals. I just can't live without tasty salad dressings. I don't eat much cheese--except blue cheese crumbles on salad (often!) I don't skimp on the mayo in tuna and chicken salads, but don't eat them every day. It looks like my fat intake runs about 90 gms, somewhere in the neighborhood of 50%. Carbs are about 35 on avg. I still don't eat much fruit--usually just the berries in the morning, and maybe a little kiwi on the salad. None of this seems extreme or restrictive to me anymore. I eat a lot of satisfying foods I like, and never feel hungry. Just being able to eat a juicy hamburger steak, or braised pork tenderloin, or chicken with the skin on makes me feel decadent. I drink wine--and write it down! I believe I'm in a kind of honeymoon phase with being at goal. This is a danger zone, where it's easy to relax and think you're "cured" of a weight management problem. Not! I want my new eating habits to stick--and the only way I can remember is to be accountable. Hope you continue to be successful minding the details! |

| Whew, just got finished reading all the posts I missed and I think I need a nap!! Sometimes I wonder if it's worth it to take an extra day off work only to work like a fiend when I get back to get get caught up. Judy: That suit is absolutely stunning!! Wish I could have found something like that when my son got married. I ended up wearing a dress I didn't really want to wear, but he got married so quickly and it was just after new years, so all the nice things were all put away and they were getting ready to bring out summer stock. Not appropriate for a February wedding. We made it through the weekend and our first campout of the season. I was positive I would have lost 5 pounds just from shivering. It was cold, rainy, windy and miserable. I think we got a couple of minutes of nice sun, but the rest was awful. I was so grateful for the furnace in the motorhome. A few people were in tents and we tried to get them into the motorhome to sleep, but they refused. Silly people. Only won 1 game out of 4, but we did have fun. Because I spent so much time in the motorhome between games getting warm, I also did way too much nibbling. So, goodbye to the 151.5 that I saw on Friday. Today, was 154. Not fair!!! I know, I didn't drink enough water...not my fault the ice cubes didn't melt fast enough in my drinks! So, it's back to pushing water and lots of veggies for me. Last night we went to watch our grandaughter play ball. She's just 5 so it was hilarious. She hit the ball so well, and then ran to the pitcher instead of first base. Love to watch those little ones. Must finish later. Too much to do.

| shell.. that was definitely NOT more than i wanted to know.. in fact it was just what i have thought for some time... i think it hit me when someone pointed out just how many calories were in MOCK DANISH .. not that i eat them.. because i dont... but it got me thinking about all the CALORIES that we CAN eat on atkins... and how we can really try to push that to the limit and beyond.. many of the things we eat on LOW CARB are loaded with calories... and it is nice for the REMINDER that they do COUNT.. i try (try being the opperative word here) TRY to bear in mind that even in the book ATKINS did NOT give us free rein to eat as MUCH as we want... to be honest? his menu ideas and portions are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY tinier than i EVER do... during the major part of losing ...ya MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT be able to get away with PUSHING THE CALORIE LIMIT.. but... when it comes to the final lbs...and i am sure the ongoing maintenance...the calories DO make a huge difference... and lest we forget that atkins said that EXERCISE was NON NEGOTIABLE... anywho.. probably more info than YOU wanted *L* .. suffice to say... THANKS FOR THE REMINDERS shell... ;-) Last edited by heykim; 05-25-2005 at 09:35 PM. Reason: to make it make more sense.. like THAT was gonna happen *L* |

| Hi Gang! Here I am for this incredibly rainy, wet, cloudy, dreary, and cold (44 degrees) day. I've been home for an hour and still have my coat on. Yeah, I turned up the heat, but I'm just chilled to the bone. Everyone here in MA is grouchy. Easy to understand. Today was full, taught this morning, counseled and planned worship this afternoon and then came home. I find myself being so sleepy in the afternoon and evening and having the darndest time actually getting to sleep when I finally go there. I hate it. DH is out at a meeting tonight so I'm going to finish up the lc pizza in the frig. I had lc for lunch and bkfst, but not enough water. Good to see you Kim. Your upcoming trip sounds wonderful. Good to see you, Judy!! Glad to hear that the problem wasn't the kids. I've been worried. And especially good to see you, Donna! I know what you mean about catching up. TB: I agree with Brenda. Your new buyers can just wait until you are there. Sheesh! Peace, Peg

| Blah........ Why are we so critical of our looks? Do you remember a few weeks ago that I was an "escort" for one of the senior girls at the drill team spring show? This morning my girl brought me a picture of the two of us, her best friend and her friend's teacher escort -- who is one of my best friends. Ok, I admit that I was standing next to two dancers and someone that often finds a size six too big....... I need to work on the arms (Lord, I hate old lady arms). I need to buy spanx that come up to my arm pits. I need to lose at least five more pounds. Otherwise, it was a good picture of all four of us. |

| Judy, I'll ditto Barb's sentiment. You are going to look AB FAB in that suit! But we are too critical, aren't we? I have those old lady arms you were mentioning! I finally found some pique knit polos (on-line catalog) with sleeves that are long enough . . . to just above my elbows. I plan on ordering more! Spanx to arm pits not a bad idea. What I really need is a plastic surgeon to push up all my fat and lop it off, LOL. Shelley, during OWL I was a DietPower freak. Really helped. With maintenance, I sorta got away from it. Bad idea. While still eating all LC, it's become too much whipped cream and probably too much meat at dinner (not weighing my portions). I think portion control was not as firmly fixed in my mind as I thought. Think I'll go back to DietPower and enter a new "diet" but one for maintenance. Barb, John Knox Village is really a wonderful place! I'll bet your glad your parents are there! Brenda, is Khaki having another bad spell? Did you get to the internist yet? And what kind of floor are you looking at for the kitchen??? Kim, I totally agree with you about the mock danish. Yikes! That stuff does have mucho calories! I learned that early on! Is Moon doing better on the new meds? Is his "color" better? And what a cute reason for calling him Moon. I had visions that his name was similar to "Moon Unit Zappa" or some such . . . . When do you leave for Alaska? That will be such a fantastic trip. Where are you going? We hit all the Alaskan "high spots" in the late 80's. That brings up a funny story. First day, our group was on a bus. This was at a time when the bald eagle was considered endangered. Someone on one side of the bus exclaimed: "Look! A Bald Eagle!" Everyone on the other side of the bus rushed over to look at the eagle. Oooh! A Bald Eagle! This happened several times. By the fifth day of the trip, in another area of Alaska, someone called out "Look! Another (effing) eagle." Maybe you had to be there. But points up all the wonderful wildlife you will see! TB, I hear you about the new owners wanting to measure . . . and the inconvenience to you. But I was one of those anal people too. Our place was empty so I didn't inconvenience anyone but the realtor. But I had to measure BEFORE we made an offer. How else would I know everything would FIT? I use Adobe Illustrator a lot, so I drew my furniture to scale. Once I had the room sizes, I was able to play with furniture placement. That's why we got the house we did . . . everything FIT! Donna, I am so sorry your little motorhome jaunt was miserable. Cold and rain together! How lucky you did have your motor home!! I made an executive decision to take the day off today. I was to caulk some of the Nextel windows. But when filming them the other day, I realized I forgot to cut film for the back room! And two back room windows need caulk. What an idiot. Since we have to go back tomorrow to film the rest of the windows, I decided to hold off the caulking till next week, so I can do all of them the same day. Happy Thursday!

| This is the time of year when I pay special attention to arm workouts. Two videos that really work for me: Cory Everson's Get Hard Arms and Shoulders and Gilad's Men of Steel/Arms. You can find these cheap on the internet. I'll try to upload a picture of me posing in my Red Hat outfit. |
