Yes, I did switch pix. Wanted to show off the guns. Here's the one I posted first. You must have been watching at that very moment!

Kim: Going to Alaska? Are you driving? If so, you will be coming right through the dinky little town that I live in. I could even buy you a coffee!!

Peg: Hope your weather is nicer today. Nothing like a gloomy day to ruin a mood. It's a gorgeous one here today. Not a cloud in the sky and supposed to go to just over 90 F today. This weekend should be really hot....great gardening weather.

Alida: I need you girl! The sun just pours in my window at work and I have to keep the blinds down. Gets to hot for my puppies that sit on my desk all day. I had to shut out the nice weather. I think tonight I just might head to WalMart and see if I can find some of that film and do the windows myself.

Barb: Love that picture. I wish I had paid more attention to my arms and legs while losing weight. I have skin that just hangs. I'm hoping it will tighten but after losing almost 90 pounds I doubt that will happen.

Well, the scale was back down to 151.5 this morning. Must have been water gain (or booze gain?). Too much of something on the weekend that's for sure. I'd still like to see the 150 mark again though.

My daughter in law saw the surgeon yesterday and they will have to operate to release one of the scars on her stomach. It's not the first time she's had the surgery done and won't be the last. Poor kid. After everything she's been through, you would think that once the scars have healed that would be it. Now they are thinking that the weight gain is due to hormones and think she should have a hysterectomy also. She's only 24!! But, she's gained 50 lbs. since January and they can't find the reason. She can't gain anymore weight...some of her scars are already splitting and it could happen to more of them. She has an ultrasound on Monday, so maybe they will have more answers after that.

My son called to tell me that after the last visit I had with my grandkids, my youngest granson now has said his first word and it's my fault. He says the equivalent of poop only starting with an s. I work with truckers, and swearing is like the first language around here. I really have to learn to watch my mouth around the little ones though. But, it does sound funny coming from a tiny one. What is also my fault, is the fact that I took my oldest grandson (3) for a walk with the dogs. He thought it was great that the dogs had a pee on the grass. Yup...you can guess what he's doing now. I think this is all called "payback time". All the things that others taught my kids are now coming full circle.

Oh my gosh Barb, you are an exercise fanatic. You put the rest of us to shame!! Great pictures :hot:

Kim, I'm coming north and near you, and your are off to go even further north. I missed the post where you sid that you were planning a trip. Sounds like you are familiar with Alaska. Are you from there? I think one of my co-workers is planning a trip to Alaska this summer, too.

Donna, Sorry about your DIL. I hope they can figure out what the problem is. There are worse things in life than having a hysterectomy. Although it's certainly not something that I would want to do without cause. She has given you some sweet grandchildren. If the surgery can fix the problem, I'd get it done and not look back.

Congratulations on getting back to 151.5. I understand about having too much too drink and the resulting weight. I had two glasses of wine last weekend and gained two pounds overnight. My fingers looked like balloons.

Today was the last day of the regular school year. Normally I wouldn't have had any kids as the seniors got out a day early. But, I had one boy that needed to get a break. His younger brother was 1 of 4 charged in a heinous murder of another boy two week ago. My student was borderline to begin with, but pretty much bottomed out the last two weeks. We have been trying to get hold of him since Tuesday. I got him in and made him retake two tests this morning. I didn't want to just give him the points needed to graduate. That doesn't do his self esteem any good. He needed to know that he earned it. The boy's mom was with him this morning. She speaks very little English. I could tell that she was on the verge of tears because they didn't think he would graduate. That family needed something good to happen. After 3+ hours of extra work, we got the grade to 70. He will graduate tomorrow night.

Monday is a new week and a new class.............. the cycle begins again.

Great Guns, Barb! Keep on pumping!

Donna, LOL, got a kick out of your grandkids' story. Payback, indeed! Also glad you are back down on the scale. Hope everything will turn out ok for you DIL, but like Judy says, if that's what's necessary to get her healthy again, it will be worth it.

Judy, you are such a good teacher. I know you get frustrated, but I'm sitting here thinking of all the young lives you have touched over the years-----

Kim, love the "Moon" story and hope the new meds do the job. Will you be able to post from the island?

Hey Peg, where are ya?

As for me, sticking close to the house. Khaki will have more tests tomorrow morning, so we'll see...meanwhile, though, I did run out for a haircut this afternoon and feel like a new woman

Donna, if you do decide to tint the windows yourself, let me know. I can give you some installation tips. You may have better luck finding films at a hardware store or someplace like Lowe's or Home Depot. The films I've seen for sale are usually only 36" wide. If your windows are wider, you may have to seam. You could try looking in the yellow pages under "window tinting" and call to get a quote (measure the glass area). If price is a concern, look for dealers in Sun Guard, Solar Gard or Llumar. Those films are less expensive. Huper Optik, V-Kool and 3M cost a little more.

Judy, you are truly a GREAT teacher! You really care about your kids, and go above and beyond. That was wonderful what you did for that young boy.

Brenda, I had my hair cut, too. I complained to my hairdresser that my hair seemed dryer. He told me it's the GRAY hair! I guess gray hair is coarser and may feel dryer. I've colored my hair for so long, I forgot my natural color must be very gray.

Kim, LOL! Not from Alaska! Now we know where ALL your family lives!

I don't know about all of you, but I am so looking forward to this weekend! We are not doing anything special. I think we are going to shop for a new small TV for the kitchen. Maybe I'll actually start stripping the kitchen wallpaper. This project has been hanging over my head for three years. Nahhhh . . . .

Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Friday everyone! Like Alida, I'm looking forward to a laidback weekend. Shopping! My life is uncomplicated compared to most of yours, however. The only thing off my plate now is the arts festival--and I'm glad to be done with that.

And yes, I confess. I'm a habitual exerciser. Have been for many years, and happy with what it does for me. Unlike people who take up exercise primarily to lose weight, I've learned that the reason for working out is general well-being, anti-aging, and a metabolic boost. You can't use exercise to burn excess calories. You have to control nutrition as well.

I have learned to live with the feeling that I am always running as fast as I can to stay in one place, fitness wise. That's just the way it is. The idea is to make all that effort as enjoyable and as simple as possible! That's why low-carb is the life for me.

I posted the second picture over in the album--now that I've discovered how easy that is to do.

This weekend we honor our loved ones, past and present. Have a safe and happy holiday.

Alida: Thanks for the hints. We didn't make it to the store last night for the films, but maybe next week. Now I know what I'm looking for.

Judy: What a teacher! I wish you were here when my daughter was going to school. She has a defeatist attitude and none of the teachers she had did her any good. Yet, my son had a teacher who felt he wasn't challenged enough and saw to it that he was and did it ever make a difference. How can we have two kids that are so different?

Kim: Sorry I won't get to see you. I guess it would be a very long drive for you and especially Moon when he isn't feeling well. The coffee offer still stands to you and anyone else who gets up in my part of the woods.

We're looking for record high temps today and this weekend. After all the running around I've been doing, I plan on just puttering in the yard all weekend. It's supposed to go to 34C today (98F) and even higher tomorrow. Perfect! Next weekend is another ball tournament so watch it rain then.

We had a ball game in town last night and another of the wives on the team presented me with a plant that she had been growing for awhile for me. She didn't want to send me flowers when my dad passed away and knows I love plants. So, she grew me a Toad Lily. I've never seen one like this before. It loves shade only and when it's bloomed, it's white with red dots on it. It looks almost like a big spider. She felt each time it bloomed I could remember how much my dad liked to putter in the garden too. Isn't it nice to have such special friends?

BC: Hope Khaki is doing okay. Poor baby...such a lot of tests. Does she still play or does it make her just want to lay around and be pampered?

Have a great weekend everyone!

Kim: I don't think we have the pop tops on the cans in Canada. Just another thing that we are way behind you guys. I'll keep a look out for them though. Beats eating a whole bag of pork rinds.
