Just a quick stop here before I hit the chores again!

Bren....OH NO!!!!! I would probably stroke out if I heard a *crash*!!!! Man, what a awful thing to have happen. Bless your heart. Do you think you will be able to replace just the plank(s) that got damaged? And how sad you lost some of your Polish pieces of pottery :( I know I would be heart sick if I lost any of my grandmothers depression glass or her crystal that I inherited. And it's also sitting on a glass shelf in my china hutch...maybe I'd better look my shelves over, eh?

Alida, boy, you have it right on, on the folks that try to get something for nothing. Sad that they hurt alot of innocent people in the process...aarrgghh! What a bummer for you and your DH on the *dead* check; I would be soooooo mad! I think I would be tempted to call on them in person and tell them I would have to repo their windows if they don't cough up some CASH...LOL...I know that's not possible, but it would just make me furious!

My arms weren't sore this morning!! So, I did the walk again with the same weights. I increased by half a mile this morning, so I feel like I got a pretty good workout; 52 minutes worth

Guess I'd better get moving again or lose my window of opportunity to tidy up in the LR; DH is outside mowing, so now is the golden chance
Gotta date with the feather duster and the vacuum cleaner!

later, gang!

LOL, Kim, DH grew up in the Lancaster-Depew area. I lived in Tonawanda about the longest year of my life. Can you say WINTER!

Oh how cute!!!! (Both of them, LOL!)

Alida, that stinks about the shyster couple. Yeah, wouldn't you love to rip the film off their windows......

Shell, today I mowed. No rider this time, all on foot to get some exercise. It was quite a run, too, since I was trying to beat the rain. Also got some major planting done on the deck. Veggie and herb containers all ready for some warm weather. Hey, where is that warm weather!!!

The floor isn't bad enough to replace the planks really. So I will retouch a few areas, and we will live with the dents--it'll be ok. This won't be the last of the accidents, although I hope it's the most dramatic.

But Shell, I was horrified to see that the shelves, even though thick, beveled, and everything else weren't tempered. When I get the shelf replaced I'm going to ask the glass place if I need something tempered, and how much weight whatever I'm going to get will carry. Meanwhile, try holding a straight edge metal ruler or something similar under your shelf. If it rocks at all, the glass is bowing slightly and that probably isn't good.

Ohmigawd Brenda!! I would have a heart attack if my glass shelves were to break. Even more worried today after your post about beveling, etc.! I have my mother's china on them. It is very rare.

Back from the busy day. Having a hard time staying awake, but it's almost 6:30. Too early to go to bed, and too late for a nap.

I went over to apologize to my neighbor after I got home from church. I mean, I preached on "Love the Lord your God with all.......and your neighbor as yourself." Dayum! As Kim would say. I really hate it when God does that to me! He listened and said that he apolgized too, but had to repeat everything he said yesterday too. I just listened, and kept saying, "I'm sorry." I feel better. It's all about landscaping here at the condo complex. Stupid, huh? Well, it's really about who has the power. Dayum.

We are off tomorrow and thinking about taking in a movie. The choices here are less than compelling, so going on "On demand" tonight to see what the choices are, and maybe to blockbuster tomorrow. We'll see.

Lost all that I gained on vacation. Starting again on losing that last 10 pounds! Wow, that is hard!

This week I get my veneers. It takes a whole day in the Dentist's chair on Wednesday.

Thursday through Saturday is our annual conference at Mt. Holyoke College. It's a time of networking and collegiality. It will be good, I think. I don't preach next Sunday, so will take the week off. Yay!

So, you computer experts. Why would Bluetooth disappear from my Pocket PC? I know it's there. It keeps giving me a dialogue box saying that it isn't installed. Not true. It is. But, I've never been able to use it.

Peace, Peg

Yup, Kim. Let's see I lived there in......1977??1978?? I'm the same age as your sister, and I think I was about 29 then, just divorced and moved from Rochester. Met DH there, so that was good, but I could only manage Buffalo a year. Too many bad memories and bad weather. I think it's an excellent place to be *from* :eyes:

Peg, guys, I'll let you all know what the glass people say about glass shelves. I would hate for any of you to lose really precious things.

Oh Peg, glad you are getting a week off! And doncha feel better doing the right thing, even when there's that little part of you that really doesn't want to!!! But speaking of landscaping, that's something to check out at the California retirement village......and major congrats on losing your vacation weight :jump:

OK...I've got a confession to make....I did NOT get the housey chores done that I had set out to do today. Got severly side tracked with some other things...<sigh>
Oh well, there's always tomorrow, right? It's not like the good housekeeping fairy is gonna come in and do it while I'm sleeping....don't I wish

Anyhoo, Bren, thanks for that little tip on checking the glass shelves. My china hutch and curio cabinet both checked out OK...whew!

Peg, yay for you for getting the week off. I'm jealous! I don't even want to think about the upcoming work week...we will be making up for being closed on the holiday...oye!

Kim, where was that pic taken of Moon and Sebastian? My goodness, the water and sky are just beautifully blue! I'm definitely ready for countdown to vacation; just 4 more months....ugh!....toooooo far off still :(

good evening, all.

Shelley

Actually, cold is ok if it comes with a moderate amount of sunshine. Cold and dark, unremitting blizzardy, sleety cloudiness is totally another. I loved living in Wyoming and Montana when I was a kid, and loved living near Denver as an adult.....but see, there was some sun. But yeah, there's too much of a good thing, too, like arizona.....or my years in Mississippi! Hey, we've been around, haven't we--no stop that, get your mind out of the gutter, Miss Kim!

Peg, maybe this is too obvious does your PC have a button to turn Bluetooth on? Does the light come on? DH says most Bluetooth compatibles have to be switched "on" somewhere. Other than that he asks what kind of pocket PC you have and he'll look it up to see if he can figure it out......

Hi Bren: Yup. It has a button. I've turned it on and it shows that the "Wireless" is starting. But, then it disappears and there is no little thingy in the upper window saying that it is on. Soon, a dialogue comes on and says that Bluetooth isn't installed. It was there for several weeks when I got the stupid thing. But, I could never get it to work. Now, it's gone. It's a Dell Axim. It's got all the bells and whistles, lots of memory yada yada.

See y'all tomorrow.

i'm off to dreamland.
Peace, Peg

Kim, your picture did not come through on my computer. I got the dreaded little box with a red X in it . . . could you re-post? I could try this site through netscape . . . sometimes when stuff doesn't work with aol (Explorer) it does work in Netscape. Go figure.

Peg, I don't have a clue about bluetooth. Did you try calling Dell Tech Support? And Congrats! on losing that vacation poundage! I have found that those pounds are usually easy to lose . . . then the hard part starts! OOhhh! You are getting veneers? Your smile will be even brighter now! I envy you! I have an old cap on a front tooth that is now a different color from my natural teeth, which have yellowed. If I do the OTC whitening stuff, it does look better. It's all about choices. I'd rather put the money in a new driveway . . . or getting our deck fixed!

Bren, tempered glass is heavier than non-tempered. Your glass company will be able to tell you if your shelf supports will be able to carry the weight . . .

And don't you love Paula's stuff! My skin has never looked better! I do use the blush and eyeshadows, but don't care for the lipstick. I also prefer Revlon's foundation. Before I was enlightened about skin care products, I did buy some LaMer moisturizer at $150/jar. Didn't pay that . . . I worked at Saks at the time . . . expected miracles for the $$$ but didn't happen. Duh. Cosmetic companies and their claims can be a lot of hogwash!

We did buy a new TV yesterday! Got one of those slim LCD thingys. Spent more than I thought we would, but I let DH make the call. Now I have to call Time Warner to get a cable hook-up in the kitchen. We do have cable, but not in the kitchen. We have been living with this ugly antenna that DH bought from one of those goofy catalogs, but it works! Every time company comes, I unhook it and put it away. It will be so nice not to have to do that! Sometimes it's the little things that can make us happy!

Alida, I do wonder if supports are part of the issue....there are just 4 little thingies per shelf. I'm going to take one with me to the glass place.

Oh, yes, love Paula's skin care. One of the lipsticks looks great on me (LOL, my opinion), and a couple of the blushes and eyeshadows. But like you, use another foundation.

We'd been looking at a small flat screen for the bedroom....yes, we have a TV there, and I swear, every other room in the house :( However, as of this weekend it appears I will need a new tranny in Mr. Green Jeans (my Explorer--and brakes and shocks, too, actually) or a new car. So much for the TV until that's decided. I am soooooo not up for a car payment!

Peg, the veneers are happening?? Did I miss that??
