| Well, Alida, how did it go at the casino? Lotsa fun, I hope. Enjoy your "special day" today--it's hard not to feel kid-like on a birthday. Peg, so sorry Mother's Day was such an emotional rollercoaster. On a recent card survey, most women preferred their own birthdays as a day to be the center of attention. It's all theirs! Right, Alida? So...when can we do yours? We had Confirmation at church, and I'm so proud of our beautiful young adults. Later this year, they will be making a pilgrimage to Iona in Scotland (with our Scottish pastor). BC, the jewels are beautiful. Thanks for the pictures. I've got a pair of peridot earrings I'll wear today in your honor. It's Monday. Clean slate everybody. Have a great week. Barb |

| Oh Brenda, those bracelets are absolutely beautiful! Do you ever hate to part with them? LOL! Peg, I am so glad your daughter finally called. I don't have any natural children of my own, just 4 step children. I helped raise the youngest. He did call, and he's the one who just joined the Army. Knowing how special that is to me, I can just imagine how it would be with your own kids if they did not bother to call or recognize Mother's Day in some way. Thanks for all the computer tips. And I'd better start copying all my files onto CD's, just to be on the safe side! The casino trip was fun. I lost but husband won, so it was a wash. Had a wonderful dinner with wine, saw "The Interpreter" which was good and just had a very enjoyable day. Today is actually my birthday . . . and along with getting phone calls from our family . . . I wonder if my sister will call. Probably not. I'll try to get a photo of the "after" of the front yard later today. I think once all the plants fill in, it will really look nice. Oh! while walking around the back yard, husband and I noticed the spirea planted around the deck looked unhealthy. BUGS! Green slimy things on the stems. Cut a branch and put it in a baggie to take to garden center to hopefully find a solution. Hope we can save them . . . . Sigh. Monday morning. Lots of work to do today!

| Hi Gang! Hopefully, this will be a "drive-by". I can't afford to spend my day off (AGAIN) at the computer. This machine just eats up my time. Next thing I know it's two hours later and all I've done is surf! Got stuff to do to get ready to go to SoCa on Thursday. Judy: Oh, how great that your kids remembered you so greatly! You deserve it, kiddo. Also, I'm glad that you finally came back! I have missed you! Glad when things slow down for you. Alida: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Bummer that you have to work on your birthday. This year will be the first in a while that I won't be working. We will be on the road (Yay!) Doncha get any of those bad feelings about getting old! I keep being reminded of how much older, OLD is. (Of course, I'm also realizing that it has much to do with what I believe about myself!) Barb: Yes, I would appreciate a big party here for my birthday! It is November 25th. I was a Thanksgiving baby. Every four years my birthday is on Thanksgiving. I don't know why I make such a big deal about Mother's Day. I think it's all the dang ads!! It has ALWAYS been a difficult day. BIG expectations, with little reward. Obviously my kids don't think its a big day. :( So, why do I? Well, I have another year to figure it out. I like BC's idea. Do something else that I like. Donna: I hope you had a great day planting and working in the garden. Let us hear from you, girl. Brenda: Yeah. You made me smile. You even put a devilish grin on my face! :silly: . Well, I'm off to listen to country music and begin my "list." Have a great day, all. Peace, Peg

| How are you doing? Friday, I didn't have school. I ran all kinds of errands, but didn't get everything done. We went to see "Kingdom of Heaven". (It was ok) I had popcorn, but didn't enjoy it as much as I expected. Maybe next time, I can avoid it altogether. Saturday, we had lunch with my DD, her kids, and my parents to celebrate Mother's Day and my dad's b-day. We ate at a Bohemian restaurant. It wouldn't be very low-carb friendly. The baby ended up throwing up in the restaurant. MY DD had clean clothes for the baby, but nothing for herself. (it was on her shirt and jeans) Later, I spent some time looking at cell phones. I'm trying to decide if I should get a different one. I found one I like. We also stopped at several places looking for legal software. (for the FSBO) Sunday, we ended up not going anywhere. It was quite warm outside. Today is raining. I bet I will regret walking to school when it's time to go home for lunch. (between the rain and the foot pain) I am trying to get rid of my sugar cravings by cutting out most carbs, but having more fat. Yesterday was the first day. I admire your work, Brenda! It makes me almost wish I wore bracelets. However, I am more of a necklace and earrings person. Brenda, you have never posted pictures of any necklaces or earrings that you do! (at least I haven't seen any) (I looked at posting pictures, but don't see where the option to upload without parking pictures on another website.) TB, how is the home selling going? We had a very quiet weekend, not many information sheets were taken and no calls. MY DH parked my car in front of the house Saturday evening, which, I think, blocks view of the "For Sale" sign. I hope all is well with you.

| Okay, I thought I would just pop in for a minute to catch up on posts...but I didn't realize it would take me 15 minutes to read them all. Aren't we just the chatty bunch? lol We did have gorgeous weather all weekend. I spent the whole time outside planting and digging. My nails are short, but what the heck, they will grow back. The front yard is almost all cleaned up and planted. Finally found some wave petunias to fill the wishing well planter. I potted 8 hanging baskets for the patio and filled about 20 pots. It's going to be so gorgeous when it's all in bloom. I also found the cutest wagon planter and a watering can planter too. Love those little out of the way nurseries that sell items from the local people. We have quite a few older people around who spend their winters making items for sale in the spring and summer. While working outside on mothers day I had the phone pretty close to me all the time. Didn't want to make all the kids wait while I ran for the phone. I could have saved my time. My son finally called at lunchtime and my daughter at 8 last night. My stepsons....not a word. My hubby is furious! He tries so hard to make up for his kids...bought me two hanging baskets...but it's just not the same. I always thought that when the kids left home it would mean big family dinners for special occasions. Not going to happen in this family. So sad. Today, I am sore....feel like I've been hit by a truck. I'm also mad at myself. On Saturday I went a little overboard with my eating, I thought. When I weighed on Sunday morning I was down a pound. I see saw every day. So, I tested myself on Sunday. Some test. I think I ate everything in sight. So today I'm up two pounds. Lots of water for me today, I guess. Friday night a wind and rain storm swept through and we lost our power for 4 hours. It was close to bedtime so that wasn't too bad. But.....it was 10 minutes until the end of Third Watch. Now I don't know what happend to Sargaent Cruise. Does anyone watch the show and can let me know what happened? Tonight is my youngest grandson's first birthday party. I can't wait to see the grandkids, but I have mixed feelings about going. My d-i-l is very spoiled and lazy. Sorry, that's the truth. I think I've told you that she was burned very badly as a child and her parents felt bad for that happening and have really spoiled her. My son hates arguements and lets her have her way. The last time we went there for dinner there was absolutely nothing that I could eat. I was all potato and macaroni salads type stuff. I ended up eating a weiner after she commented that they was nothing for me cause she didn't have time. Then pulled out a salad made special for her dad. When I called yesterday to see what time we should come over her comment in the background to my son was...does she expect dinner or just cake. I was ready to tell her where she could put that cake, but didn't. I said we would be over after dinner and left it at that. My son knew I was mad and must have said something cause she called back and said she would be making hamburgers and to come at 6. It's so tempting to just let loose and let her have it, but I don't like to make things rocky for my son. But....it's coming and even my hubby said he could see it brewing. D-i-l once said that she's afraid of me cause she's never seen me mad and she's afraid it might be really something to see. I think she's going to see it soon if she keeps being rude. But, tonight is my grandson's birthday so I won't ruin it for him. The 1st birthday is a special one. I was also told I'm not allowed to buy him toys. Guess what I bought him.....a great big truck. No one can tell gramma's what to do. Brenda: The bracelets are gorgeous. I love the colours. Did the furkids remember mother's day. My hubby got a card and used one of my scrapbooking stamps and stamped paw prints all over it and signed it from my critters. Too cute! Better get some work done. Boss is away, but I'm on a deadline today and can't be late. Glad to see so many posts. Have a great day all!

| Donna: Check the "Everything Else" thread for a post on Third Watch. I only got to watch the last 15 minutes and asked about the show. Shelley posted a nice synopsis. Sounds like a good planting weekend. Still too cold here to plant. Maybe we should go away together for Mother's Day next year, Donna! LOL Peg

| Peg, Thanks for visiting my journal. In answer to your inquiry about the WATP videos/CD by Leslie Sansone: I bought my first 3-pack at Walmart, which is called WATP Express, 1mile, 2mile, and 3 mile. I have since bought 2 more; the 4 mile express and another 3 mile WATP for abs, which I ordered on line from Amazon. They(Amazon) have a very large selection and I got my order in a very timely manner. I used the 1 mile tape once I think, and since then I have been doing the 2 and 3 mile tape on alternating days. I think for the money, a 2 mile would work; you can always stop after the first mile and do some stretches and cool down and work your way up to 2 mi as your strength and stamina increase. Just my $.02. It has finally warmed up enough to walk outdoors, which I love to do, so my plan for now is outdoor walking until it turns miserably hot here, then come back indoors with the a/c and fans and do WATP again I just finished planting all my bedding plants that we bought this week end. DH bought me a beautiful Boston fern for Mom's Day yesterday, which we hung on the patio. I'm so hoping the housefinches will nest in it; I would love to have that little bird singing on my patio! Well, sorry to go on and on here. I guess I'd better scoot on back outside and see if DH needs any help. Later, ladies ![]()

| Tia, your d-i-l sounds like a pill. No toys for a boy's first birthday??? That takes the cake! Let alone the other stuff. Try to rise above it--you won't regret taking the high road for your son's sake, and the kids. Shelley, I've become a big fan of Leslie Sansone. I have that 3-pack, and really like the cheery colors. I also have Walk & Jog on DVD. These are so easy to pop in when I don't "feel like" working out--but once into the walk, the intensity really builds up. I often use the 1 mile for a warm-up before a weight workout. I'm not a gardener, but I'm really enjoying everyone else's efforts. The irises, like all the other blooms this year, are lavish and colorful. Oh, I have three peony bushes in my yard, courtesy of the previous resident more than thirty-five years ago! They just come back year after year, bless 'em. The peonies, not the previous owners (they only came back to dig up an Easter lily once long ago.) I love the peonies. |

everyoneDonna, hope the birthday party goes better than Mothers Day for you, but you are doing the right thing by putting a good face on it for the sake of your grandson. Shell, hey nice to see you. You know if certain colors resonate with you, you should really try to get more of them in your life. Colors are energy, and there's a reason for our attraction to certain ones. Maybe the next room you decorate? Or your scrubs? Or hey, get that wonderful DH to buy you some pretties. Ilse, thanks. Actually I make a lot of earrings, not so many necklaces because I don't string. I guess I haven't shared pictures because I haven't found a way to photograph them that I really like yet. I don't think my necklaces look best photographed flat, for example, but a don't have a neck form either. Earrings are really a true pain to photograph--I've tried several of the usual methods but really haven't hit on anything I'm happy with. Hmmmmm. Bohemian sounds good Barb, I'm a reluctant gardener, myself. I do what I need to, to keep the yard nice, and on rare occasion I actually enjoy it--but for the most part it's a lot of work without the corresponding reward I need to feel any joy in it. I still Alida, thanks. Yes, it's very difficult to part with some pieces--I think that's why I gave things away for years -- somehow that's easier. I still make things occasionally that I can't part with, but often I can keep them around for a while and then say goodbye. I'd love to see pictures of everyone's yard, since I enjoyed TB's so much, so do take pix! Peg, hope you hade a nice day off. I took a short bike ride today between thunderstorms. It's rather fun being the old lady whizzing around the big wheelers and skateboarders on the block. Other than that I gave myself a huge headache taking the lawn mower to the dealer. Even with the windows down, the gas fumes were something else in the car. I missed Curves today, so will have to do double duty some time this week. Now I need to catch up with things I should have gotten done today. Why is it my list is always three times as long as the hours available? ![]()

| http://www.allstatesfsbo.com/detail.asp?ID=762 Here is a link to a free FSBO website. Let me know if it works or if you have any suggestions. TB, I found out if I list with a MLS ($399 at the cheapest), I might have to pay the buyers realtor a commission. At this point, we are trying to do without. Brenda, as far as neck forms go, I have a bunch of the flat ones, but they are all packed away. For earrings, I used to hook them to the neck form and would take the picture as they dangle. Sometimes, as the Gem and Jewelry Show, they sell them, sometimes not. Last night I registered with the ILL dept of revenue as "Ivy Lane Studios" Alida, maybe your DIL is trying to make sure they have room for all the baby's stuff. At Christmas, by DD asked us to get no more than 3 toys per child, but no restriction on no-toy items. Maybe if you ask, they will explain what the thinking is. Is their home on the small side. At our WW meetings, they say to bring a dish you can eat or eat a meal before going someplace if not sure whether the food is appropriate. Not everyone is in tune with specific ways of eating. (My DD's MIL knows she is on WW and still makes somethings that are best avoided.)

| Just dropped in for a minute before I go watch some TV and put my feet up. Barb, that's a good idea to do the 1 mi WATP as a warm up; it would be just about right; I may give it a try. Bren, When we had a new porcelain tile floor put in a few years back, I re did our little half bath off of the utility room. I chose a light sage-minty green paint for the walls and wallpaper border with smokey amethyst irises with wisps of the same green in the leaves, then accented with the amethyst accessories. Everyone says they like it when they see it. It's my favorite bathroom in the house come to think of it. So it's a real possibility I would chose those colors again! Peg, you are leaving Thursday? My goodness, I just get here and you are leaving Hope you will be able to stay in touch while you are trekking cross country. Will you be coming through OOOOOOklahoma by any chance? Would love to meet ya in person and buy ya a cup of coffee Donna, I hope they replace Third Watch with something worth watching also! Just hope it isn't yet another reality show...those are wearing pretty thin with me :o Gonna head for the sofa ladies...have a good evening ![]() Shelley

| I felt like I totally wasted my time after school Monday because of the storms. I did venture out at 8:15pm to buy a new cell phone. I got to the Sprint store and found out they didn't have the phone in stock. I'll try again today. I was proud of myself for not getting any take-out food afterward, as I didn't trust myself for making appropriate choices. Today, after WW (in Schaumburg), I will need to head out to Geneva to get the new cell phone. Lovely. (Opposite directions) I gassed up this morning for $2.01, which is a great price around here (along Rts 31 and 72 near Spring Hill) (for anyone around here who needs to gas up.) I have been "good" about LC-ing the last two days. (definately not eating LF!) I found some more free FSBO websites, so I will need to find a moment or so to add some more listings. I'm trying to decide if it is worth paying for any newspaper ads. How is everyone today?
