Mornin' everyone. I'm at work, boss is gone and as you can see, I'm really working hard. lol I was actually glad to get to work this morning and get away from everything that needs doing at home.

Judy: You go girl. You show them all that you want their money. That would be my motivator too. I do so much better if I have to report in or weigh in with other people around. When I first started I posted every week in the 100 Forum and it sure helped me. Good luck! That is a good idea to take the kids to somewhere where they can play....but...you would have to come to this town to realize that there is no where. This is a small town in the middle of no where that is all motels and gas stations. We have one Dairy Queen and that's it. No play area. But, hubby is only working until noon on Thursday and he'll keep them in check. He knows how hard I work on the yard. The kids are really good if they are kept occupied and not ignored. (I hope)

Good Housekeeping and Martha Stewart awards both in one week? Thank you, I'm honored. Does it come with a prize?....maybe a full margaritta glass? I'd hate to see what I'd be like if I drank even one. We very seldom drink, except maybe at baseball tournaments and even then I usually limit myself to just a couple.

Barb: I ice skated for years and still have my skates hanging in the basement collecting dust. I have this fear of being the one laying on the ice with a broken leg.

Alida: How is that etching coming along? Can't wait to see a picture of the finished product.

Guess I should get back to work. Sun is shining, boss is away, life is good.

Good evening to all!

Not much to report in my corner of the world today

Donna, trying to post and then losing it happened to me just the other day, here in this forum!!! I wonder if we had, or have a glitch of some sort? Weird, and not to mention very aggrevating!!

Alida, how's the etching coming along? How long does it take? Surely you can't do all that in one day?...my goodness! It would take me a YEAR...LOL. Awaiting the pics...you know, we ARE a visual bunch here

Judy, I love going to *Margaritaville* every now and then!
We were visiting my brother in San Antonio, and we had gone to Taco Cabana to have dinner. Well, you know they have frozen 'Rita's on tap there...well...my SIL and I polished off a PITCHER of Rita's between us, and just as we were leaving to go home, I told her I though those frozen Maritia's were very tasty. She started laughing at me and said "Marita, who's Marita?"
And on the verge of being inebriated, I told her "Margarita's American cousin, I think".
So from that day on, we always have *Maritas* instead of Margaritas...LOL.
It does take a few days to get back from M'ville...LOL

Peg, hope you are doing good too! I bet you are on *countdown* for your trip that's coming up soon. I did a little calendar check this morning myself...but dang our vacation is still 11 weeks away.....AARRGGHHHHH!!!!!!! The good thing is, at least we will get a 3 day week end for Labor Day...but even that seems far off at the moment...<sigh>

Bren, kind of wondering how you are doing...hope the back is better and you were able to make that class you wanted to go to.

Well, I'm still dinkin' around with the same pound since last week! I did a 2 mi WATP yesterday, and am aiming for at least 4 workouts a week, 5 if I can work it in and I am not exhausted form work. I don't think I'm stalled as much as just hitting a plateau or set point; in the past, the weight I'm at now, I was at for quite a while. I'm also going to try and bump up the water to 80 oz a day and try and eat more fish and chicken this week. Maybe that will shake things up a bit.

Else, Barb, Teel...hi to you all!

later, ladies

Shelley

Hey, all.

LOL, no BIG drugs around the house (my kingdom for a percodan!), so maybe I should go for *BIG Maritas* instead ! Still, doing much better, thanks everyone. Spent lots of quality weekend time on the floor (yes, knees up).

So much going on here, I'm really frustrated at not being able to say something special to each of you, but you know I hold you all dear and have read each of your posts and answered them, if only in my mind. I think if I can get comfortable tonight and sleep, tomorrow will approach bearable, and I can join you again.

Amazing (but not really ) how much I missed you all this weekend

Good morning (and any day after a big etch job is good !

Your prayers may have helped a little. No etch rejection BUT the transom did need a little adjustment. Had to lop off a leaf, cut away a part of another leaf then tape out the edge of the leaf to follow the curve of the half moon. Basically a no brainer. But can you say LINT? I must have spent an hour picking off little pieces of fiber that were stuck under the template and peeked out into the etch area. There were also a few cat hairs, LOL! Depending on the time of day and position of the sun, it is hard to take pictures of glass. But I think you can get a good idea from these. Oh, I got there at 9:15 and left at 6. Was snoring on the sofa by 7:30!

Shelley, I have got to get those tapes. I keep saying that. One day I'll surprise you all and actually get them. I have always found fish and chicken are kinder to my weight than red meat. And I had a couple of stalls at old weight "set points." Stall would last about a month. I have also found when I really up my water (96 oz.) that it really helps. Good luck with that dinkin pound! And Maritas!

Brenda, so glad you are feeling a little better. BIG drugs would certainly help (now that I know what BIG drugs are!). Hope you are "back" on your feet today.

Barb, about becoming your mother! I feel that way, too. There are a lot of foods that I omit just because I never ate them to begin with. Crackers are high on the list. And ice skating was sorta on my list of things to do before I die. But now with a bum wrist, I am too afraid of falling ~ just like Donna!

Judy, I think those extra Marita pounds will be gone in a few days. And that 148.5 was with clothes on and after breakfast! The contest does sound like a true motivator, though. It took me three days for Pizza and Wine Weight.

Peg, so those are the BIG drugs! Thanks for the explanation.

Donna, at least DH can supervise the Mozniks! (That's a Polish word for "unruly" children . . . my mother always called me that!)

Hi Gang!

DH and I both awoke this morning at the same time 7:00! He slept late and I giggled.

Alida: Omigawd!!!!! Those etchings are absolutely beautiful!!!! I'm really speechless (rare, but true!). Your artistry is a true marvel. Congratulations on that incredible job.

Brenda: So glad to see you up just a little! Can't wait until you are back among us. Thanks for checking in.

LOL on the Maritas, Shel. Have a good day today.

Donna: Good luck with those kiddos. I do hope that Grandpa will corral them for you.

Judy, Barb. I'm going down to see this Leslie Sansone tape!

Peace, Peg

I've just been reading your various words of encouragement posted for Sabine over in the Newbies forum. This really is a good place for people to show up, don't you think?

Alida, the doors are beautiful. What a lovely idea for transforming plain glass to a thing of wonder.

Bren, I've never been good at posting individual replies. I enjoy reading what everyone is doing, and simply letting you all know that I'm around. That works!

As for the ice skating, it's a meditative thing for me. Very solitary. I don't like organizing other people to do things. Often go to the movies alone. I have a pair of wrist guards--the kind rollerbladers wear. I don't always wear them now, but they helped a lot in the beginning (after I broke my wrist the first time, that is:lol And in the winter, I can ice skate every day at lunch time, virtually for free, near my office. For a desk worker, that is a mini-vacation.

And speaking of sitting at a desk--for years, I've been using a fitball as a chair at work. I'm so used to it now, I hardly even think about it. You can't slump or fall asleep! And if you need a good back stretch--roll out on that thing and you've got an instant massage. When I first got it, I thought I'd burn a lot of calories and get thin thighs. Hah! But it's still a good way to keep from feeling like a lump all day. Watch me bounce!

Oh Alida: Those doors are absolutely gorgeous. I'd love something like that at my house. But, then my furkids wouldn't be able to look out the window. lol You did such a wonderful job, you should be so proud.

Barb: I don't want to sound stupid, but, what is a fitball? I just have a plain secretaries chair that isn't comfy in the least.

Brenda: Good to hear from you. Hoping you're feeling better real soon, we miss your posts.

Hubby has now worked 22 days straight seeing as he is such a nice person and gave the staff memeber only 3 days a week to work. He got the picture yesterday when I told him that I've spent the last 3 weekends alone and I don't intend it to happen. He actually hired someone!!! I'm so impressed that he's decided to be boss again. When he told the girl who's shifts were cut that there would be someone new to train she was really put out. I know it's cause he's been letting her get away with crap and she's been acting like the boss. Now, she knows where she stands. She's lost all seniority by becoming part time, and her pay has been cut. He said she just went white when he told her there would be a new full time employee. Maybe it's about time she decided just what she's going to do with her cheatin' hubby and get on with her life.

I can't believe this weather. We have actually set a new record for rainfall ....108 cm. in June. That breaks a 10 year record. Usually we are sitting well over 100 by now, but it's only been in the high 70's lately with lots of clouds and wind. They say it's to change this weekend and get hot...we'll see.

When I was shopping on the weekend at Costco, I found a seafood salad that has taken the place of my favorite "tastes like I'm cheating" food. It's only 5 carbs too. I'm just wondering if I can eat the whole container before the expiration date and not sprout fins. Hubby can't have it because of his gout. He's pouting too! lol

A fitball (goes by many names, like Swiss ball, exercise ball, etc.) is one of those inflatable balls used by home exercisers for a variety of workouts. Mine is a Crystal Edge--about $20 from Wal-Mart. 55 cm inflated. Comes with a pump. Don't buy an expensive one, because they are made of a harder vinyl and I'm told they can be irritating to the twat. Mine is a little squooshy, but inflated enough so that my knees are at 90 degrees when I'm seated.

I have an adjustable shelf for my keyboard (actually I use a laptop on the shelf) so I am constantly changing position in one way or another. I think this is also a safeguard against carpal tunnel, since I have NO CHANCE for unrelieved repetitive motion. Rolling the hips around on the ball is an excellent tension-reliever.

Alida, just beautiful. I'd be honored to have your work in my home.....Donna, I'm sure a pattern could be created that would leave clear glass at "dog's eye level."

Peg, you may train DH, yet

Donna, glad your DH is getting things back on track. Enjoy that seafood salad. Sounds yummy.

Barb, I learned to skate only a few years ago. It is a wonderful experience when the rink is not populated. Haven't been in two years now--bet I'd have to re-learn quite a bit. "Broke your wrist the first time????" Ouch.....

Yes... me, too! The doors are just amazing, Alida. I'm sure the owners are very pleased - even tickled pink over how they turned out.

And, ditto on the pooped status! ...but a quick hello to everyone.

This has to be short . . . even though I am off today, I have lots to do!

Wow everyone, you sure make me blush. I've been doing this Etchlike for so long, I just can't seem to look at it from your eyes (or the eyes of my customers). I guess because there is so much work involved, I am always glad to get it DONE.

Today's my luncheon with an old college friend. Should be fun . . . more fun than hanging film!

Yesterday I hung the largest piece of film ~ever~ by myself. On scaffolding with a sturdy stepstool on top of that. Facing a piece of glass 62" wide x 59" high. We do a reverse-roll type of install . . . to complicated to get into . . . but this film is 64" wide and my arm span is about 50". Assistant can't help cause there's no room up there. Well, I did it! And the install was great. Sometimes with these high, big windows, we can get the job done but it may not be the best install. Now I feel like I can do anything. Alida, The SuperTinter!

I'll catch up more tomorrow. Have a wonderful day!

Heights make me really shaky. I don't think there is any way that I could do something like that. I truly have a fear of falling.

I'm with you Judy. Travel and its attendant adventures is something I have come to late in life (when I married my "current" DH [he "loves" it when I introduce him that way! ]). One of the first places I went with him was Chicago. We did all the tourist things including riding to the top of the John Hancock skyscraper. When the elevator doors opened at the top, you look out to sky. I hit the floor!

Well, today I'm at work with very little to do. AGAIN. My office mate is back from vacation so we have been talking for a couple of hours! Ha! I'm leaving at 2:00 to drive with DH to the Berkshires. We have tickets to see Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops "do" Sondheim tonight at Tanglewood. We have a time share out there, so will stay there for the next two nights. I won't be on the internet, so this is it for me until Saturday.

Barb: I did about 10 minutes with Leslie Sansone yesterday. But I did it barefoot in my robe. I bet I could work up a sweat with my shoes and shorts on! I'm looking forward to getting back to it. Our time share has a very nice gym with all kinds of torture machines. We will undoubtedly hit it for two days.

Brenda: Good to see you back. How is your Back? Are you getting some relief?

Donna: Keeping you in my thoughts this weekend. I hope it all works out and your gkids don't disrupt your plans.

Shel: There is a great Mexican restaurant in Springfield. If I can get DH to stop there, I will have a Marita and think of you!

Alida: I hope you have a terrific time with your college friend today. I love those kinds of things.

Yesterday was a day that was a "lost" day for me. I went to Whole Foods Market to get the stuff for Maggies cereal and was lured in by the incredibly fresh bakery goods. I bought some, ate them in the car. Then, I was grazing in the church kitchen refrigerator and found some frozen "munchkins." (Those of you who have been to Dunkin' Donuts [they are RIGHT next door] know what "munchkins" are.) I peeled off several (I mean SEVERAL) popped them in the microwave and ate them standing up with a fork. How disgusted with myself I was!!! But, today is another day and I am eating clean. I have to say, Barb, that I am continuing to mull what you said about stress eating. I had a HUGE disagreement with the "idot" yesterday afternoon. We parted deciding that it is a good idea that I am leaving because we will never agree. Nice, huh?

See ya Saturday!
Peace, Peg

Peg: Thanks for thinking of me. It's coming down to the crunch now, but I think I just might have everything under control. (as I have another hot flush). I'm a list maker, and the list is getting smaller so something must be getting done. lol

Alida: I could never do what you do. Heights don't usually bother me, but I don't have the best sense of balance and would probably fall off. You really amaze me!

Teel: Take some time out for yourself. Don't get too tired. You'll be in your new house for years to come so you have lots of time to get it all set up.

Better make this short today. Boss will be on a rampage and I don't want to do anything to make it worse. We got a credit card bill yesterday and someone has gotten hold of one of the company credit cards and charged $6900 in fuel in another town. Being the owner of a service station, I know that it could be done by manual entry and someone could just be taking the cash. They are running the card up to 10 times a day which makes me think it could be a staff member. Anyway, boss is furious, which I can understand. Hope they catch the idiot who is doing this!!
