| Donna, here are the good thoughts for a great party! It sounds like you have everything well planned and handled! I'm sure your guests will have a wonderful time with such a thoughtful and organized hostess as yourself. Donna, as you run your own business, is the boss DH? or your own conscience? That's terrible about the credit card fraud. Usually, on my consumer accounts, I notice the credit card company will freeze the card immediately when ever there is unusual activity. It's caused me some inconvenience on occasion, but I think it's a great practice. Anyways, I am slowing down, though not entirely voluntarily. I've had to deal with huge waves of fatigue this week - probably due to fibromylagia. I've got some of the other typical symptoms, too (muscle spasms, aches, etc.). I can take motrin, which moderates the discomfort, but there's nothing much that helps the fatigue. I even feel tired after sleeping all night or taking a nap. Barb, you've given me an idea about seating in the little computer nook here. It's a small space just in front of the door to the powder room. A regular chair kind of gets in the way of the entrance to the powder room. I'm thinking one of those balls would be better than the small chair I'm using now. BC, I hope your back spasms are quieting down. Any idea of what set them off, or did I miss that? Alida, I can go up and down ladders, but I think your window tinting feat is awesome! I'm sure the OSHA people would shudder, though. I suppose there's no way to rig up a safety harness is there? Peg, the concert and weekend away sound terrific. I hope you and DH enjoy the getaway tremendously. That's a shame about the confrontation with "idiot". Confrontation and animosity are just about the worst for stress in my book. I totally understand about using food as a distraction and to escape those feelings.Been there lately myself. But, as comforting as the indulgence feels, we can fall into cycle of remorse and self-recrimnation, unfortunately. I'm looking for some other sources of "comfort" for those moments. The last few days, I'm having some success with reading for a few minutes instead of eating. I have a couple of "fun" books going. I also like to read the Dave Barry archives at the Miami Herald. Sometimes I play a game on the computer, but that's addicting, too. Strange to say, I find weeding helps. I can be distructive and feel virtuous about it, LOL! Judy, good luck with the Curves challenge - it kind of sounds like fun! Keep us posted with your progress. Shelley, I think choosing more chicken and fish over beef, pork, or cheese can make quite a difference in moving past a set point. I'm thinking of doing the same thing to help lose a couple of extra pounds I gained during the move. I wasn't always on target with the diet ( see my comment to Peg on comfort food above).

| Hi guys! I popped in last evening, but didn't have time to post. This is a pretty fast moving thread sometimes...a gal can fall behind in a 24 hr period ![]() My big news is...drum roll, please...I had a wee little whooooosh of 1 whole pound!!! But, I'll take it...and I hope it sticks! Alida, those doors are beautiful....they simply look mah-vel-ous Peg, we'll miss you for sure! Have a good time with your sweetie on your little escape! I think I'm about ready to escape somewhere myself...October is just to far off...<sigh> Donna, I just know your party is going to be super. You and I have a lot in common; I'm a list maker also! And it sounds like you are so organized, this is going to go off without a hitch! Good for you!!! Now, you just need to relax and make sure YOU have some fun too! Teel, I do hope your FM remits soon for you, and your fatigue goes away as fast also. I only know one other person with FM, and she has days that she totally stays in bed or on the sofa. I feel so bad for her; she has 2 small children, and lately, she's had more *bad* days than good. Bren, how are you? I do hope your back is better; again, that is just a miserable feeling. So, sending *get betters* to you too! Good news today at work. Our doc that had the biking accident/head injury came to see us today! He is in rehab, but doing super well...big sigh of relief! He is expected to make a 100% recovery, and will probably get to return to work in another 6-8 weeks. He is already bugging his wife to get his bike fixed and wants to ride on a fall bike-a-thon!!! He's a tough one for sure! We are so thankful for his recovery. Well, I need to get a move on and finish up some chores before bedtime. At this point, I am off tomorrow, but will be on call. I may just take a quick furniture expedition tomorrow if nothing else comes up. Heck, you never know, might just find THE perfect chair or bombay chest when you least expect it! later kids... Shelley

Then there are the goverement jobs that want you to wear a hard hat, goggles and steel-toed shoes to tint windows! Aaarrgghhh. I usually tell them we are hanging film, not cement. Peg, I ~love~ Sondheim! Sweeny Todd is one of my favorites, along with A Little Night Music. Your little getaway sounds so wonderful! Have a great time! And I have to agree with TB. Confrontations/arguments are the biggest cause of stress eating for me. That's why I avoid them! Sorry you had a lost day . . . at Whole Foods, no less. But Dunkin Donuts? Idiots will cause that. Do you ever think you will tell Mr. Idiot what you really feel? Like on your last day? Would love to be the fly on the wall . . . . And I had to laugh at your attire while doing WATP. Bathrobe and slippers. Sounds exactly like I would be wearing! Donna, I am confused too, and thought of TB exact question. Is your boss your DH? Do you own a gas station but also work at another job? Bummer about the credit card. How on earth can anyone charge 6,900 in fuel? Are they filling a tanker truck? And how can it be done manually to get cash? Enquiring Minds Want To Know. TB, I am so sorry your FM is acting up. Would it have anything to do with the let-down now after all the stress of getting your old house ready, selling, buying, packing and moving? Your body has been in high gear for months. When in that mode, we tend to ignore little warning signs and forge ahead. Now that you are more or less settled, perhaps your body is reacting to all that past stress? Shelley, CONGRATULATIONS! One pound loss is a winner in my book. And great news about the doc. But he wants to get back on the bike? I guess that falls into the same category as getting back on the horse after a fall. Hope you do not get called in to work and can find that perfect chair! My luncheon was so much fun. Went to an Italian restaurant (Barb, Brio's on the Plaza, where the entrance to Seville Square used to be). So not only did I have a glass of wine, but indulged in a Pizza cooked in an imported Italian wood smoked oven. And I finally heard the story about girl X leaving school because she got pregnant by boy Y. And about teacher/priest Z coming on to a lot of the guys in our class. We were a gossipy duo! DH is out of town for a few days. So I get to do all his tasks like doing the dishes, take out the trash and make my own dinner. That man spoils me. Small etch job today which I should be able to do in my sleep. Have a great day!

| Ilse, I just gasped when the photo popped up. What an adorable baby girl!! (The house looks nice, too.) Peg, Sondheim in the Berkshires sounds like heaven. Hope you have/had a wonderful time. How could you not? As for that grazing extravaganza--CUT THAT OUT!!! Next time you're at Whole Foods, stop by the olive bar and graze there instead. Or sample the free cheese. And for heaven's sake, stay out of the church fridge. I know what those things look like, and it's a total danger zone. Your Watchdog has spoken. Next Wednesday is our wedding anniversary, and I'm already thinking about the treats I'm going to allow myself at the Cafe Maison. We were married on the day of the first Moon Landing. We had a television at our (small) reception so people could watch the lander set down. Then in the middle of the night, my new hubby woke me up to watch Neil Armstrong get out. I tell people, "He promised me the moon--and delivered!" Can you imagine that was 36 years ago?? TB, so sorry about the FM. I wish they could find out more about causes and cures for this. Hi, Shelley and Donna and all comers! Yes, this is a busy thread! |

| We have not sold our house yet. We had some traffic on it last week. None this week. Two offers, one almost $18,000 below our reduced asking price (I think the ones who left the back door wide open when they left), one close, but not close enough. The close one is in negotiations. We really can't go lower than the set asking price as we have to pay the realtors and closing costs. We don't want to have to pay out of pocket to sell this house. Saturday, we went to the renaissance fair for a bit. We also stopped at the Oak Brook art fair. Saturday is also the day we usually go to see the progress on the house. Tuesday, we went to Shipshewana, Indiana. They have a flea market every Tuesday and Wednesday during the summer. We got some art (Thomas Kinkaide light house prints-framed) and a few other things. In the shope, I got my DGDD a couple of new dresses, one is pictured above. Today, I will take my grandson to the Chicago Boitanic Garden. Gotta run!

| Busy place since I was in here yesterday. First of all, let me fix all the confusion that I've caused. lol My husband and I own a Shell gas station and convenience store. I did work for him for 7 years, but because of my legs the standing was just too much. So, I got a secretarial job where I could sit on my butt all day. (now my butt hurts!) The credit card that was used was for my job not our business. Teel: I agree that most companies have some type of report that shows unusual activity on the credit card. Our store does. But the credit card used was for a card lock where the drivers swipe their own card and pump their own fuel. There wouldn't be a report. But, if there was someone pumping the fuel, they could have a dummy card or punch in our #'s (if they got it off a receipt or something), they could take the cash the customer gave them and just pocket it. That was what I meant by punching the numbers in manually. Clear as mud? Anyway, the plot thickens. The cards used are still in my drawer.....I haven't given them to any drivers. We don't know if someone maybe hacked into the propane companies computer and got the numbers or if maybe the station has the same numbers on their card as we do. It's just a big mess....but, the propane company has told us not to pay the bill that they will do some checking first. Makes me think they might no something they aren't tell us. The police as involved too. As usual, I felt guilty right away....that's just me. Goes back to childhood I think where I usually took the blame just so there weren't any arguements. Ilse: Your granddaughter is just gorgeous, as is the dress. Love the house too. Bet you can't wait to get into it. Shelley: I don't get holidays until October either. Seems like a long, long way away. And, if I wish it to come faster, it means summer will be gone. Such a dilemma. Thanks for all the good wishes for the party. Last night I got all the floors washed and waxed...a job I absolutely hate. It's pretty hard to do when I turn around and there's a dog or cat sitting on the wet wax watching me. Anyway, it's done. I got up a pretty good sweat and when I finally sat down around 10 p.m. I was hungry. So, like a dummy, I opened up a bag of lc chips, just to have a few. Just like old times, I was watching TV and munching away without any idea of how many I was eating. When I finally caught myself I had eaten more than half the bag. How stupid!! So, now I'm back up to 153 this morning, pushing water like crazy and just as fast hot flushing it out. Darn...I wish I could take HRT and get rid of this. Anyway, hope the weight is better tomorrow. I even tried weighing myself a couple of times this morning hoping I could blame the scale. (bet you've all tried that one) Tonights the night my grandkids are coming. Hubby told me I'll probably have to rewash the floor under the high chair after Nolyn gets finished eating. lol He's probably right. Never seen a child that likes his food as much as that one does. Kaedyn is a good eater, but not like Nolyn. Micayla is a picky little bird, but getting better. Can't wait to see them. Ilse, you are so lucky to be able to see your grandkids so often. Wish I could. So, I'll make the most of tonight. I'm hoping we get to make the stepping stones that I didn't get to make last time they were out. Have a good day everyone....hope the weather is good wherever you are!

| Donna, put a sheet or beach towel under the high chair to catch the spills. I've seen plastic mats sold for just that purpose, but I'm sure you can improvise something.

| Quickie 'lil fly by for me... Hi to all... hope everyone is good We did get to go furniture shopping today, and I can not believe there is not a chair to be found like I want. Actually, we did see a few styles we like, but the fabrics were no where near what I wanted. We even looked at some upholstery fabrics thinking we would just special order...nothing really *grabbed* me, ya know? I am going to give this some more thought. Since the window treatments aren't here yet, I guess I'm getting ahead of myself a little...just soooo anxious to finish this project. Donna, good luck and have fun at your party! Also, hope you have a good visit with the grankids this evening. Ilse, your little grand-daughter is a cutie. She looks just like a doll with those big eyes. Dang...makes me want another grand...but DD says no go! LOL. Barb, Happy Anniversary coming up! We celebrated 31 yrs in May; in a way, it just seems like a few years ago that we got married...time does fly! Hope you and your honey have fun on your special day Alida, how did today's etch job go? I'm still blown away by the fact you did those big doors all in one day! Any special plans for your weekend? Peg and Bren, you are missed! Teel, are you feeling any better yet? Sure hope so! Well...off to shower and do a pedicure...I'm *needy*...LOL. I love to wear the reds and deep pinks on my toes in the summer; just makes ya feel sassy... ![]() later, ladies

| Hi all.......... Who was it that said that conversation moves fast around here? That's so right! Before you all came to join us, there were weeks when Peg and I just talked to each other, and even times when she was out of town that I would bump thinkgs myself just so that someone would know that we were still here. Ilse, your granddaughter is precious. Girl, you are on the go so much that your gasoline bills must rival the national debt. Donna, good luck and good visit with the grand kids tonight. Shelley, Are you guys still getting rain. I can't remember a July where we have had so much. It's usually like a faucet that gets turned off on July 1. BTW, I like hot red toes, too. Brenda, try to let us know that your are surviving. I hopr the back is better. Teel, How's unpacking coming? I spent the day cleaning house. I'm afraid that negligence is catching up with me. I did do some of those oddball things like take down some curtains and wash them. The thing is, I need to do a lot more of that type thing. I had a friend that used to say that when it was time for that much cleaning, it was time to move. I guess that's one way to handle it. Alida, tomorrow's Friday. Are you giving yourself a "light" day? Peg, Have a good weekend. Barb, Congratulations on the anniversary! My husband the news hound would have been up watching the TV all night, too. Oh my, did I leave anybody out? Just blame it on cleaning fumes. Have a good weekend everyone. |

| Ilse, your granddaughter is so precious--all she needs is little wings with that outfit and she'd be an angel. Your house is coming along nicely, too! Today I can move without feeling like I'm going to set off spasms or something, so of course I've been trying to catch up with some cleaning. Like you, Judy, I'm behind in some of the major jobs and no move in sight, much less the routine stuff now. TB, in answer to your question, I have no idea what I did, but I sure hope I don't do it again soon. Donna, you are so like me....I always feel guilty when anything goes wrong in a ten mile area around me. But you know you didn't have anything to do with whatever is happening with those cards, so don't stress out about something that is completely out of your control. I think your party will be just wonderful, too. TB, so sorry to hear you aren't 100%. You have been working so very hard for so long, perhaps your body is just needing a break, too. Alida, your lunch sounds quite enjoyable. Always nice to catch up with old friends. I also got quite a laugh reading your description of OSHA and the like. When I was in HR a million years ago, I used to have a safety manager who reported to me who took his job a little too seriously. I think there's a certain type of person who really enjoys that kind of job. Shelley, I will bet when you least expect it, you will happen upon just the right chair and chest, or something else even better. At least, I've found that usually happens when I really want something NOW I can't find it--then suddenly, when I've almost given up and forgotten, the perfect thing will appear. Who knows.... And hey, I had to get a pedicure myself last week. Really needed for something about my bod to feel sexy again, LOL! Barb, what a perfectly romantic day for a wedding and to remember an anniversary by Judy, I would say "don't work too hard" but I know you have lots you want to accomplish, so just remember to take care of yourself, too. Hope Peg is having a deservedly good time in the Berkshires with Sondheim

| Good morning! I actually slept until 5AM . . . hmmm. DH is out of town. Wonder if that has anything to do with it. Brenda, I am so glad you are feeling better! But don't even think about cleaning house right now. Perhaps take a few more days of rest? I know that's hard to do. I always feel guilty if I'm not at 110%. And yes, it does take a particular type of person to be a safety officer. They feel like they have so much POWER! Ilse, your granddaughter is absolutely precious! A beautiful smile and those big eyes are adorable! You must be one proud grandmother! And I love the house. The colors are wonderful. Good luck with the negotiations. Barb, Happy 36th! It is amazing that moon walk was 36 years ago. While it doesn't seem like yesterday, it also doesn't seem like it was 36 years ago! What indulgence are you planning for Cafe Maison? Why do I have the notion that it may still be lower carb? Donna, yup. Clear as mud on the credit card situation. But now I understand about your jobs! How did your visit with grandkids go? Were you able to make those stepping stones? Judy, your cleaning frenzy with the curtains reminded me of my last encounter with washing curtains. When we moved in, the drapes in the living room looked like they had not been cleaned in 20 years. Since they were basically cotton, I decided to wash them. They fell apart. I was hoping they would so I could buy new drapes! So you and Peg started this thread? I was wondering who did. Thank you! Well, Shelley, what kind of chair are you looking for? Maybe we can help! Job yesterday was a breeze. Today it's more 3M then 3 days off. Maybe I'll get to the rest of the wallpaper removal in the kitchen. Son Paul is coming into town on Monday prior to leaving for boot camp. :crying:
