| Good morning everyone. Boy, I had to go back quite a few pages to get caught up. Aren't we the chatty bunch. I had a great weekend with a really nice birthday party for my grandson. He was so cute but got a little impatient when the other kids started to open his presents. Found out he has a temper!! I spent a lot of time chasing the baby who crawls sooo fast. Turned my back and the little beggar had climbed the ladder to the trampoline and was in the middle of it. Kaedyn loved his scooter, and yes Shelley, we made sure he had a helmet and elbow and knee pads too. But, the hit present was of course a big truck. I've never seen a little boy that loves trucks like this little guy does. Sunday we went to town for a little shopping. I actually bought myself a new set of dishes. It was while I was unpacking them that it hit me that I'd never had a real brand new set. I had my moms dishes when I got married and then I picked up some at the supermarket with the add up your till tape and buy them for $1.99 promo. So, I turned to dh and said "you know, I'm almost 54 and this is the first set of new dishes I've ever owner". He interupted me and said what? So, I repeated myself and he interrupted me again. I was getting a little annoyed and finally asked him what his problem was? That was when he told me that this year I will be 56!!! Accckkkk! I actually had to figure it out and he was right. Now, I feel cheated. Where did the other 2 years go? Was I sick and in a coma? It really hit hard that I can actually apply for a pension in 4 years. I am so depressed!!! lol Thanks everyone for the help with posting the pictures. I didn't have time to play this weekend but I will get on it. You're all right. We have no A/C. Last night we finally put a little one in the bedroom window. The poor dogs were panting so hard. They've got really thick fur and it was just too much for them. I woke up frozen this morning....but I don't think I had a hot flush all night....I was too cold. Peg; Love the picture. You look so relaxed and happy. I'd love to be a mystery shopper. We have them come in once a month to our store. Shell pays for it and if we should happen to get a couple of bad reads in a row, they could take the station away from us. Some of them are really picky, while others are pretty lax. I'll never forget the bad read that I got for having too many cars in the parking lot. How in the heck are you supposed to get gas without taking your car along? Judy: Speaking of pictures, the wedding picture is gorgeous. Hope you're having that one blown up and framed. This weekend coming up is the wedding for my stepson. I really doubt there will be nice pictures like that taken. Also, sorry to hear your dd isn't well. I'll keep him in my prayers. Terry: We live 232 miles from Vancouver, BC. Right in the Interior. Lytton in usually the BC hotspot and we are about an hour past that. And yes, we do have the long nights when it's still light at 10 p.m. I'm usually still outside and watering then. I have so many baskets and flowers it takes most of the night. It was still over 90 last night when we went to bed and just over 80 at 7 this morning. It's supposed to stay close to 105 all week. Sure hope the wedding ceremony which will be outside, will be short. Better get back to work. I'd much rather just stay here and visit awhile. Hi to anyone I missed.

| LOL!!! I always have to ask DH how old "we" are; he's two months older than I. When I was younger (much), I was whining to my Mom how unhappy I was to be turning 30 that year--until she reminded me that I was actually only 28 and would be turning 29. I felt as though I'd just been given the best birthday gift I'd ever have--a whole 'nuther year Two years, ugh....TEN years, Kim. OUCH!\ Judy, I sure hope they can take care of your Dad soon and with a successful stint; certainly you have my prayers for every success there and a good recovery. Donna, I can just imagine how cute the kids must have been at the party, although I imagine I would have had a giant headache after, since I'm not used to such warm commotion. Take care in your heat--it's really draining. Oh, TB, I know exactly what you are going through!! I, too, go through periods, where I just am not functioning on all cylinders mentally--lose things, forget things, etc. I even have physical manifestations sometimes, where I run into doorframes and what not.....I attribute it either to stress (if something is going on) or to hormones (if I can't find any other excuse). It always goes away, but it's certainly weird. Just be careful--about 10 years ago I went through one of those periods and had three minor fender benders in a period of 18 months. Yikes! Never had an accident before or after--knocking on wood here! Well, gotta roll, but will check in later....I keep trying to tuck my hair behind my ear--NO HAIR! LOL!

| Happy Monday all! Work was short today; but tomorrow will be back *status hectic* Just got home from my second workout at the gym. I did pretty much the same routine as yesterday, except added a leg press with 35 lbs and did about 12 minutes on the treadmill at the end to cool off. I can feel some soreness in my arms and upper thighs, so that is probably a good thing Donna, glad you had a good time at the party. You are such a good grandma to keep the little guy safe with a helmet and pads. I've seen some pretty serious *cracked noggins* when I worked with neuro patients, and some of those accidents could have been less severe if helmets would've been used. It's amazing, growing up as kids, we didn't wear safety equipment, but nowadays, I do think it's the smart thing to do. We had some pretty serious crashes on our bikes and go-carts, but the old *noggin* didn't crack...LOL. Bren...you are gonna have to keep us informed on all you activities for this week. Sounds like you are going to be one busy chick all week Teel...are you feeling better physically? I have brain farcts sometimes too! I hate it when I do that...it makes me feel....ummmmm....old???? Nope...I refuse to admit I have the mind of a 50 year old...heh! Now, some days the body FEELS 50, but I'm hoping some quality gym time will help that Alida, glad you got some rain, just not glad you got it IN your house! It turned cloudy on us late yesterday evening, had a big clap or 2 of thunder, and about 10 drops fell on the driveway....then...poof...nothing else...notta, zilch, nil and none! What a good chance for rain, and we missed it! We are back in the upper 90's and continue to roast here in the heartland. Peg, what up, lady? Aren't you going to go see the new grandbaby soon? Bet you are getting excited about that. Will you do the christening ceremony? That would be cool! Judy...hang in there, girl. Your summer has flown by fast, huh? Hope you can get some rest before Thursday. Also sending good wishes for a speedy recovery for you DD. Barb, Ilse, Kim, Rachel.....hi guys! Well...it's so darn hot here, it sure makes me NOT want to cook, so I think I will just mix me up some cool tuna salad or a shrimp cocktail for dinner(DH is working this evening),some broccoli and ranch dip and have some chilled fruit for dessert. Later, ladies. Shelley

| Wow! How wonderful to open this thread and find so much conversation!!! Today has been both relaxing and busy. Got up this am and walked for a mile outside in the neighborhood with DH, then to the gym to do weights. Exercised for an hour. So far it hasn't shown up on the scales, but I DO FEEL better. I can stand up taller, and my tummy goes in a lot easier even after just three days. I did a bunch of errands this afternoon, including having our winter coats cleaned and stored for next winter (YAY!) We won't be here in the snow, and they don't wear down in California! Yay! Rachel: How good to "see" you. I'm a little surprised too about not having gardening implements there. I suppose that folks who do "farm" use farm implements, and not "gardening" implements. I remember when you were posting before how difficult it was to be low carb. I really hand it to you to try! Donna: I was wondering about a swamp cooler for you too. Do you have high humidity? Swamp coolers were what I was raised on in Southern California. I still call the air conditioner a "cooler" and the furnace a "heater." People look at me as if I am daffy. So glad that the birthday party was a success. Interesting how those boys like trucks even though they don't know about them, isn't it? I don't get it. Alida: S*** about the leaking! I know just how you feel! It seems as if it never ends, heh? We had another minor leak in the hall this week when the furnace seemed again to be leaking. $200. later, it was fixed. Another 24 hours with a high speed fan working on the carpet. TB: Maybe your biorhythms are off. We set great store by that back in the 70's and 80's. I do think there is something to be said for that. When you add FM and stress, and depression, and all the things that are said to affect the ways that we live in this world, it is pretty daunting. I certainly think that it takes thinking in more than just the medical model. By the way, we are coming through your neighborhood in the fall. Would you be open to a visit? Shel: I hope that today has not been too stressful for you. Congratulations on signing up for the gym. I'm still paying $35. a week for the Y which I signed up for almost three years ago. I haven't been there in two years. Sheesh. Kim: So good to see you on this thread, girlfriend. Keep posting. Bren: Oh, you know me too well!!! Of course I couldn't get out with just $50. I spent a little more than that (Ha!) The way I got to be a secret shopper was to sign up on their website. That's all it took. We have two stores close, and I just signed up for the one that is in the town in which I work. They called about 6 weeks later, and voila! I'm in. I hope that you are having a great week with the knitting convention. Wow. Girl, you go with all that knitting. I am hoping that when we move to SoCa, there will be a store close where I can take some lessons. I'm tired of trying to teach myself. I just don't have the impetus to do it. Judy: I hope that your time in Plano is not too stressful for you to start the new school year. I suspect that you have never had time to really rest since before you left for the wedding. I'm so sorry. I sort of hate to see you start school again. I know that you can't post at school and you are so tired when you get home that it is hard. Sigh. Well, dinner is almost ready. I can smell it from the office. Got a call this am from the chair of the personnel committee at the church (volunteer position). She wanted me to know that no one supports the idiot and everyone supports me. They are about to tell him that he needs to find somthing else to do. Peace, Peg

| Hey all, just checking this morning... I'm up a pound and a half :( :( I can't understand it - I ate very well yesterday - quite low on the calorie and carb sides. I'll change clothes and get on the treadmill now but <<<<grrrrrr>>>> This is such a tedious process. Sorry, I'm just whinning to you all.... forgive me.

| Quick fly-by. If I miss this thread for a day, the news stacks up! Judy, prayers are indeed with you and your family. You look radiant, along with the bride, in the wedding photo. Good thing you had that happy occasion behind you when the health crisis came up. Not to mention juggling school. That's a lot of stress...take a deep breath. Peg, great picture! Love that golden blonde hair. Are you sure that "secret shopper" thing isn't just a ploy? I mean--what can you actually buy at Coldwater Creek for $50?? They get a survey, and a $200 sale! I'd call that a really smart market research technique. Alida, it didn't rain on me! We coulda used some. Shelley, I had such a good time at my sister's beautiful fitness center the other day that I entertained the thought of joining somewhere. But I know myself. The only thing that keeps me consistent with exercise is the convenience of doing it at home, first thing in the morning. No fuss, no decision, no transportation time. Lots of variety, too, with the few pieces of equipment and all the videos I've collected over the years. As soon as I get it from my sister, I'll send the digital photo of the lavender gift bag sitting at the head of the table, with the shadow of the manhattan cocktail we bought for Mom, in the golden evening light. Amazing. We didn't lose her--in any sense of the word. Only three days at work this week, then I'm off to Colorado for more adventures. Gotta run now! |

| Good morning all! Would you believe we had another "out-of-the-blue" thunderstorm yesterday afternoon? At about the same time, too. Not as severe as Sunday's, but rain nevertheless. Rachel, no hoses? Pack rakes? I am amazed! Agree with everyone . . . you would think the locals need this stuff for farms/gardens. And whining is allowed here. Boy, you are going to whip this thread into the shape it was meant to be . . . tracking! If you've been good it HAS to be water weight . . . Judy, I really know nothing about this, but is a blocked artery "better" than congestive heart failure? I guess what I mean to say is that perhaps the blocked artery is more "fixable" than heart failure? I am so sorry . . . I know your stress level must be going through the roof right now with school starting and being torn between what you want to do (stay with Dad) and what you think you have to do (start school). Thank goodness your husband can stay with Dad. I do hope and pray all goes well. Terry, sorry you are going through a bad spell. I have those spells, too. Leaving garage doors open, coffee pot on, bumping into walls. Maybe Peg's right about the biorhythms. Never understood that. Hey, Peg . . . what are biorhythms???? Sometimes I think my brain just gets too full. Have to take a real deep breath and "re-group." Oh Donna, your party sounded like so much fun! Looking forward to more pictures. Glad you got a swamp cooler! Aha. See? You didn't notice the night sweats, right? DH used to say we could hang meat in our bedroom. Not only was it cold but I'd keep a big floor fan on all night pointed right at my face. Slept like a baby. When is the wedding? This weekend? LOL!! We ALL seem to have a hard time with our ages!! I, too, "gave" myself an extra year once. All year I thought I was one year older than I really was. Now, I write my age on the calendar . . . . Kim, I love your new avatar, too! Sheesh. You lost TEN years! Leave it to Rob to point that out! Brenda, keep us posted on SOCKS. You are talking about FUN socks like to wear around the house, right? Shelley, yup. Sore muscle ARE a good thing! Girl, you are an inspiration, as are Peg and Rachel. All this exercise . . . in the heat, no less! Sorry you didn't get some of our rain. We've had a few of those two-drop thunderstorms, too. Peg, as I mentioned above, you are on a roll with the exercise! Good for you! Did I read your post right . . . you are paying $35 a WEEK for a Y membership you don't use????? At least YOUR leaks only cost $200. Whereas I know my leaks were caused by the rain really whipping around and getting into places it normally doesn't GO, it's still a problem that has to be addressed. My guess? At least $1,500. There goes the new computer. And, so GREAT to have the support of the committee. And to really know you are RIGHT and the idiot is WRONG. OK, Rachel, I'm tracking . . . sort of . . . Did not get on the scale this AM, however the big news is that I did not eat any whipped cream yesterday! And did not eat a dessert after dinner. This is a BIG hurdle I have been trying to overcome. Score one for my side! have a great Tuesday, everyone! . . . . it IS Tuesday, right?

| Oh Alida! You are a nut! Yup, it's Tuesday! Geez, I'm so sorry about the rain and the leaks. And, no, I'm not paying $35. a week. I would do something about that. I'm paying it a month. I could call and cancel, but I figure that my $35. goes to improve the community for others, including youth who can't afford the Y. No exercise today. DH off early, and I got up too late. I'm just flying by here as I need to get to the office. The idiot is buzzing around one of my staff and I need to get there to support her. A teeny bit of loss on the scale. But, I'll take it. TB: You were RIGHT about the rancid flax seed. I replaced everything and now it tastes excellent. We are grinding our flax seed. We had neighbors over last night and she talked about picking blueberries. His eyes lit up and he said, "Are you going to bake me a pie?" I know she doesn't bake, and blueberry pie is one of my specialities. So, I volunteered. I baked it last night and took it up to them and then went downstairs to watch TV. I wish you could have seen DH's face when I told him I gave away that pie! They promised to bring us a big piece. I'll give it to him. Poor baby. Barb: SO glad you had a good time with your sisters and Mom. Waiting to see the pic. It sounds just great. LOL about the marketing. You are probably right. However, I didn't spent $200. But, just under!! I keep asking myself, "Do I have everything I NEED." Note I said "need" and not "want." DH is frugal with a capital "F." Rachel: How lovely to see your pic!!!! You are beeyootiful! I agree with Alida. It's got to be water weight. Perservere, sista. You'll make it. Good morning to all!!! I'll check in later. Peace, Peg
