| I am pleased that we will close on the new house on the 29th and on the old house on the 30th. That means that we won't be homeless with a truck full of stuff for a few days. We do want to have the truck loaded up on Sunday, with everything from the house ready to go on Monday after closing. We may spend one night in a hotel. We had gotten quite a few offers from various people over the course of about 4-5 weeks. The buyers had made an initial offer in July, about a week after we lowered our price. Their final offer on the house wasn't ideal, but it was liveable. We had to give up our (bought last year, high-end) washer and dryer and our (mostly inexpensive) window treatments.

| Ilse, this is great news!! Please, when you can, post us a picture of the new house, too! Peg, I had a good work out this morning (trying not to be too down about the weight) I actually got two rowing sessions in (ok, only about 4 minutes each, but that's better than nothing, right?) and I am thinking about not weighing in every day - but perhaps only a couple of times a week. Mondays tend to be heavy days (no mystery there!) and Thursdays or Fridays better. Alida, I have found that I can cut the "I want dessert after dinner" by keeping lots of Russell Stover SF dark chocolate mints in the house. I actually had a case of these things shipped over here a while ago. I only need one to cut that yen for a dessert. There are plenty of days I don't need or want one - but when I do... there they are. In fact, they are great to have around because I do have chocolate yearnings sometimes and why blow it with a bag of M&Ms or some other hi cal - hi carb things? [ and when I'm in the throes of lo-carbing and I'm a little blocked up - 1 or 2 of these mints helps move things along! Uh, sorry is that TMI (too much information)? ] Barb, I loved that you took your Mom out - and I look forward to seeing the picture. I'm with you on the exercise thing - not too interested in traveling anywhere or exercising in view of anyone! Have a great time in Colorado - where do you go? We have family in Evergreen, Morrison, and friends in Lakewood (ok, I guess that's all pretty much Denver isn't it?) Ok ladies - I'm off to bed - see you tomorrow...

| TB: Just wanted you to know that I am waiting for DH to get home now. I locked myself out of my own car when I went around the car from the drivers seat to the passenger seat to get my purse and my work bag. My purse has everything in it, my cell phone, my keys, my LIFE!!! Luckily I keep a HOUSE key hidden, so I could get in. And I have a spare pair of glasses so I could see. (I wear a prescription set of sunglasses, which I was wearing) So........you are not the only one who does stuff without thinking about it. This is the second time in about three months that I have done this. The last time was on a Sunday when everyone else was gone from the church and I was there alone. Long story about how I finally got the keys out. Whatre y'all doin' today? The idiot has managed to upset the entire applecart. I came home with nothing better to think about!! Probably why I locked my keys. Though I have to admit that I was listening to a very suspenseful mystery novel when I got to the house. Maybe that's why. Now let's see...Today is August 9th. I know that I won't be gone from the church by September 9th, but I will be finishing up. I'll probably be done September 25th. The committee has another candidate/s (its a couple) who would be just perfect! If they hire them and they can start before that then I won't have to actually work much of September. I hope, I hope, I hope. I'm so wanting to just be done with this. Peace, Peg

| Ilse, congrats on the house switch, and good luck with a smooth move. Rachel, you may be the only one here who's actually "tracking." Rest assured that others of us are tracking wannabes Peg, I pore over the Coldwater Creek catalogs. I think there's a new CC outlet in Silverthorne. Can't wait! (We're posting simultaneously, I see!) Glad the car key thing wasn't an emergency. I hate when that happens! I found a biography of herself that my mother had written as part of a Bible study group she once attended. It was moving to read that brief account of her interesting and difficult life. I didn't realize how close my father had come to dying of TB (I was eight years old at the time) although we did live without him for the whole year he was confined to a military hospital. While he was in isolation, my mom gave birth to my baby brother, conceived five months before. In this and many other ways, my mom has been truly heroic. My pretty little life at the greeting card factory has been gift-wrapped by God! |

| Rachel: I so agree with you about having little treats around. I always keep some Ross' chocolate in the fridge (dark chocolate of course). That's my treat when I finally have all the chores done and it's bath time. 2 squares of chocolate and my book and head for the tub to soak and relax. When I know I have a treat to look forward too it sometimes keeps the evil thoughts away. Alida: Yes, the wedding is this weekend. Dh is not looking forward to it at all, but he will support his son. I'm sure it's the macho man image and he's a little embarrassed that all of his cousins will be there and their kids are already married. I'm not too sure how it's all going to come out in the end. Dh's x-wife will be there also. I'm sure it's going to give me lots to tell everyone next week. lol Peg: Crappy about your keys. I was going to say that it's been years since I've locked myself out, but scratch that. I'm sure it would be bad luck. Here's hoping that you will get to finish work early. Ilse: Congrats on selling your house. I bet you just can't wait to get into that brand new one. My daughter in law dropped in on me at work yesterday after her appointment with the dietician. Boy, was she stressed out. She's had a headache for two days and not feeling all that well. I think she's just worried. My son got a full time job so she quit her job to take care of the kids. The amount of money she made was just about equal to what the babysitter would have charged. Now, they leave tomorrow for Vancouver where she will get some of her burn scars fixed. Then next Friday her little guy has surgery for his adenoids. My son hasn't had a full time paycheck yet and they have a car payment and a credit card payment due and she's not sure how they will pay for everything. She applied for another Visa card in my son's name and he doesn't know about it. (that might have been a big mistake, he hates credit cards). I felt so sorry for her, but I can't be dipping in my pocket everytime they have a little hard times. I had many of them and I made it. But, I've been thinking about it and I think I just might tell my ds about the little money I've put aside to get his eyes lasiked and if he feels they need it he can have it. I really hope he doesn't think I'm interferring or that his wife shouldn't have come to me. Sheesh! Do we ever get to stop worrying about our kids?

| Donna: DON'T DO IT!!!!! You are right when you say you made it without help. Give them the opportunity to figure out how. I know whereof I speak. I'm so sorry I did help out. For me it turned into thousands. Of course that's just me! Peg

| Hey Gang, I want to chat with you all, but will have to come back a bit later this evening to do it. Meanwhile, though, I thought some of you might get a kick out of seeing the finished version of the sweater I was knitting....my only hesitancy is showing my ugly mug with it----started to crop myself off, but knew you all would call me on it--so ignore the dork. Ok, warning, this is not your grandma's knitting, LOL!

| Quick note........ We got the kind of report that you don't want to hear yesterday.........."Sorry we can't do anything." To use the doctor's terms, the veins and arteries are so full of trash that it was more dangerous to proceed with intervention than to stop and do nothing. DDad is in ICU still, and will probably get to move back to a CCu room tomorrow. As soon as they can get him stable, they are sending him home with meds to keep him comfortable. He is a wreck waiting to happen. More another time, it's my turn in the ICU.

| Bren... gorgeous - I'm with Kim, the whole shebang - just fantastic... and very skilled in the artistic fields!! You are striking, I am thinking back to the "she's your daughter?" comment - no way, no way... You just look fantastic (and I do like the short cut and the color - very stylish). Judy, I am so so sorry, this is hard on everyone, including your Dad. What kinds of meds will they give him? I mean, to do what? Bless your heart. I hope your in-service days and prep for the school year are a breeze so that you can focus on what you need to. My thoughts are with you and your family.
