| I should clarify that I did NOT choose to get AOL with my T/W All-in-One package, because T/W has a deal with Earthlink, so I could keep everything to do with internet access just as I had it before. Alida, my long e-mail to you describing Presbyterian church govt. just came back as undeliverable. This is after at least a week! If you still want to know, I'll bring you a copy on Sunday. Ilse, I must have missed a post somewhere along the line, because I didn't realize you were considering lap band surgery. I'm sure you've been reading everything you can get your hands on about this significant life choice. It sounds like a difficult journey to me--you have to know yourself very well. Hope things get worked out with insurance, etc. Speaking of journeys, you've covered quite a bit of real mileage just getting from place to place. No wonder you crash-napped! On the marriage scene, it's my DH who has the ex. By the time we met, he was entirely indifferent to her, except for being responsible with child support and payments on the settlement. He never said a word to me or his sons against her--but I gather from Son #1 that she wasn't shy about trashing him, until Son One told her to stop. Since I'm 13 yrs younger than my husband--and her, too--I suspect she's always considered me something of a trophy wife, and just a touch intimidating. I'm always as nice as pie on family occasions. And why not? She will always reign as the Real Grandmother. Back to work. I'm writing Mahogany Valentines this week--Hallmark African/American brand. I speak many languages! FYI, I seldom rush in the morning. The workout today: Jari Love Ripped (total body weights), and a walk at lunchtime--for which I had to kick myself in the butt. But I did. And it's a beautiful day out there. |

| Peg, thinking of you and Duets right now. (((Big hugs)) Maybe keep a little momento of him, a picture or toy, out for a while. Ok to grieve. You know that. Yes, I'm back home and doing great.....LOL though, I not only remember the whole thing, but also watched it on the monitor. Got to see a polyp being snipped and the whole 9 yards. The post op staff was rather amazed, but evidently I got enough of the "I don't care" meds and not quite enough of the "I don't remember" ones. Anyway, I'm fine, can describe it in first person for any of you who have missed it, and have lots of pretty pictures to put on my Christmas cards. Of course NOW I'm sleepy and will take you all up on that nap. Back later!

| It's working fine now, I swear I do not know why I see the Tripod logo sometimes and get the real image sometimes. Alida, I may send you a PM and get you to put it on your web page. Maybe it will be more reliable.

| Bren, you're good to go! I remember watching the beginning of my procedure on the monitor, and thinking, "Oh, how interesting!" The next thing I knew, I was in the recovery room. You got to see the show! But I'm glad the "I don't care" kicked in as it was supposed to. Doze away. |

| Glad to know that you came out on the other "side" so to say, Brenda! I'm listening to "Beyond Scarves" as I'm writing. Thinking about you. I hope that the "fuggedaboutit" kicks in pretty soon. I'll bet that you do. I had some parts of it that I remember too. Wasn't going to tell you that until you were done. Remember that friend I told you about that I have to "put up with?" Well, she invited herself over for a glass of wine tonight. She finally left at 7:30! We worked through dinner really fast. We invited her, but she said, "No, I'm not staying." Uh huh. Well, I have so much to do. Anywhoo. Deuts went about 5:00 pm. He was putting up quite a racket in his cage. He doesn't like to travel! The woman I gave him to is a real animal lover so I believe that he will be just fine. I don't envy him the next week trying to acclimate to a new place. It's so hard for cats! So far, I'm doing quite well. I think I will miss him more tomorrow and tonight when he isn't there to sit on my legs and cuddle. See y'all tomorrow. Peace, Peg

| It sounds like Deuts is in a good place with a good person. Try not to worry too much. They do wrap their little beings around your heart, don't they? I'm sure his new purrson will cherish him as lovingly as you did. When you miss him, try sending him contentment vibes. (((hugs)))! Judy, I sent you PM about your top of the mind tripod image. You can see if that new link works better.

| Oh, Peg...I know you feel OK with letting Deuts go to a new home, but at the same time, I know you will have a little sadness when you think of him. Big ole Okie (((hugs))) to you. Teel is soooooo right...they just make ya love 'em! This past Monday, the 24th, marked the 2 year anniversary of our Fu kitty's passing. I still have to say, I'm not over that cat; just don't think I ever will be. I can for the most part talk about her without getting teary eyed....well almost...tearing up right now...dang it. Anyway, DH and I talk of her often, and laugh at some of the antics of the *Fu*. Bren...well, dog-gone-it...I sure wish the amnesic med had worked better for you(I'm assuming it was some IV Versed?) Usually does the trick, but every now and again, we'll have a patient that *talks* all the way through the procedure. Sometimes, we give a touch of IV Benedryl to enhance the Versed and Demerol. So, you had a polyp? Did they say which variety? Oh, Peg...YES!!!! Everyone come on *down* to OOOOOklahoma!...except Judy...and for her it will be *up* to OOOOOOklahoma WOOHOO...what fun we would have! Alida...I'll ask DH how long it takes him to get to KC. I'm thinking he told me around 7 hours, but I could be wrong. Everyone, I'm so sorry I have to scoot on outta here tonight! Yesterday at work was really busy, and so was today. Friday will be intense as well. I am surely missing my regular work mate on days like these. She and her family are still stuck in Playa Del Carmen. They are now rationing food and water to the tourists at the resort where they are. I'm assuming no electricity and possibly no running water...what a devastating situation to be in. I would think that with the State Dept getting involved to get the tourists out of Mexico, it wouldn't have taken so long...<sigh> later ladies.... (((hugs))) me

| Whoo hoo! Terry hosted the image on her web page. Right now she has the BIG one. And it look like it really really works. Peg, the address for the image is http://tlb.best.vwh.net/pickups/topofmind20051.jpg I think you are going to have to change, too. You keep getting Tripod instead of Top of Mind Thanks, Terry!!

| Leslie Sansone and I have had our little walk, and I've enjoyed a Mock Danish. I'm kinda tired of eggs, and looking forward to the day I can have my flaxseed cereal. I probably could have it now, but I've decided to do this induction as "purely" as I can, for at least a week. I shouldn't have, but I stepped on the scales this morning--AS IF three days would make a difference! Well, it did. A drop of 2 lbs. doesn't usually mean much, but I know from experience that my body doesn't easily let go of any kind of weight (fat, water, etc.) so that's encouraging. Friday evening, DH and I are attending a university dinner. I'll have to decide whether it's worth it to have a bite of some pretty dessert they're bound to serve! Shelley--you're in Ooooklahoma City? I think I might have mentioned that I have a cousin there. He's a neuroradiologist, and his wife is, too. I can certainly imagine a little roadtrip your way, and might even have a place to stay when I get there. Phil and I were good friends when we both lived in KC. Or perhaps Alida and I can drive down and bunk in together somewhere. Remember Alida--I snore! ![]() Hope all your busy lives go well today! |

| Good morning! Whew. It took me 26 minutes to read all your posts! I love all of it! If this site ever goes down, we'd have to find a substitute. This thread has become an essential part of my morning. Brenda, I am soooo glad everything went well! Although the prep does sound intense, at least it's in the "comfort" of your own home. Would you mind telling me of the timing of all of this? In other words, what time of day did you start drinking the gloppy stuff? Were you able to get to sleep at night, or were you up all night visiting the loo? And I imagine the test is first thing in the AM? Peg, How are you doing today? My heart truly goes out to you. Giving up Deuts must be very hard. But I know you will take some comfort in knowing you are doing the right thing for Deuts. Does his new owner have other pets? You are really getting down to the wire here with leaving. Another week! An external hard drive sounds just the ticket. Don't you love PC Mag? I've had a subscription for years. Even though I am not a true geek, I do love trying to "keep-up." Yes, cutting the templates for the Etchlike is hard on my hands. Cutting the film is a breeze in comparison. I have to hold the temp down with my fused wrist and then cut with the arthritic fingers. That's why it takes me so long to cut one! I'll do about 10 minutes of cutting then rest my hands for an hour or so. Oh well. When we sell the business, I won't have to do this any more! I may even miss it . . . . And, I am doing that job today. I'll take pictures. I do hope I don't run into any problems with the job. Tonight is Survivor and I MUST be home in time!! And speaking of Survivor . . . Donna! How exciting! All new furniture sounds like a dream come true. Have FUN!! Thanks for the hosta tip. I'll just let them rot away till I can rake em up. As for your new attitude re: work . . . works for me! You do what you can in the alloted time and go home with a clear head. And thanks for the recap on what you do. Now it makes sense! WHY do you wear panty hose with jeans? Enquiring minds want to know! How is your DIL doing? Ilse, you certainly do spend a lot of time driving! Hope the new school works out for you, if it will lighten your driving schedule a little . . . Judy, I e-mailed you. But it looks like you have the Top of Mind problem solved! Barb: yes, please do bring the Presby Politics with you to Henry's. I feel like I should understand this stuff. Where did you send it that it came back undeliverable? Was it a PM through this site? I think there's a size limit on those. Or did you send me a regular e-mail? If so, what address did you use? Curious. LOL! No husbands allowed . . . except Henry! Back to the T/W package thingy . . . if I wanted to pay the extra for high-speed internet, yes, the package deal would be great. But the whole reason for this is to cut our budget. So we will decrease our cable TV options, get the T/W phone deal, and stay with dial up. However, I did just get a letter from AOL yesterday, offering their high-speed internet deal for $23.50/month with free installation. I read the fine print. The $23.50/month seems to be firm and not an introductory rate. So that's just $2/month more than I pay now. I believe this offer is to combat the T/W offer because they specifically said their offer was for people in the "Road Runner" area! As for my cell phone, I called Cingular and it will cost me $18 to "transfer" my service to my son's family plan. Thereafter, we'll just pay Mark $10 + taxes a month, instead of $35+taxes. Sounds like a deal to me, especially since I do not use a lot of minutes. I did e-mail Mark to find out how many minutes I would have. But once we get the T/W phone, I'll hardly use my cell anyway. It would be more of an emergency deal then. Shelley, if it only takes 7 hours to drive to Ooooklahoma, that's a piece of cake! From your decription, it sounds like your friend is OK in Mexico. By that I mean she suffered no injuries in the storm. No water or power is a PITA, but just a minor inconvenience when you figure one could have died. And in defense of our government, I would imagine there's a lot of hassle involved with getting our citizens home. Perhaps the airport is wiped out? Lot of logistics to wade through. And speaking of logistics -- Terry -- had to LOL at your description of the planning staff at Asilomar. Chaos behind the scenes. Always seems like it's the "little people" who straighten out the messes the "big people" make. Barb, just saw your post from this AM. Two pounds is fantastic! I need some more inspiration here, folks. Yesterday I ate some REGULAR cereal. Why, I don't know. First time in a year and a half! And, FYI, I snore, too! Your snoring wouldn't bother me cause when I take my hearing aids out, I can't hear sh*t (CHS). However, mine might bother you! Hope I didn't miss anyone. Have a great day! I have to get my etch stuff together for my job today. Pictures tomorrow!

| Good morning everyone! Yesterday was such a bad eating day. Mcdonald's had $.49 hamburgers and I had some for lunch and dinner. I had mentally intended to get a salad or something for dinner. But, my DH had called that he was in a day early from out of town. I had plans to babysit the grandkids. I had to attend to some things first before I left the house. I ended up not giving myself time to pick up any food. I did swim this morning. I brought leftover food from home to eat here at school. Usually by the time lunch roles around, I want to leave the building for a bit. so, we'll see. I feel a cold coming on. Lovely! As far as driving, I can't complain. I barely drove to work for several years. Now, I am making up for it. Next class is starting and the sub is late, so I gotta go!

| Hi Gang! I am JAZZED that you are actually thinking about a (re)union in Ooooklahoma!! Okay, Brenda, that means a little (it's just little, isn't it?) drive to Kansas City to drive down with Alida and Barb. And, Judy, you can come up from Texas, and we can "meet in the middle." ANNNNNNND, Terry and Donna, you guys can start saving your pennies now and fly to Oooooklahoma in March for a (re)union! Rachel: How about you? Got enough frequent flyer miles to join us?? I think we are going to need about three days, don't you? Two days for driving, and a day and night to talk! Shelley: You are in charge of finding us a place! Remember, that we all need a bed. Well, I suppose I should speak for myself. I need a bed. I'm too old for a slumber party that doesn't include room service. (Just kidding) Well, I'm doing okay without Deuts. It was really wierd last night and this morning. DH and I remarked both times on wondering how he was doing and missing him. It is strange to move other pieces of furniture into the places where his things were. Strange not to have him greet me this morning, climb up on the bed to cuddle and then tell me all about his night. I always picked him up in the morning and rocked him for a while before bkfst. Whaddya mean he was spoiled?? Yeah. He was. Brenda: Howre you feeling this morning? What do you mean they found a clipped out a polyp? What kind of polyp? Did you know about that? Are you sore at all? Alida: I admire your "stick-to-it-iveness" with that etch template. Nuff said. I hope it goes well for you today. I'll be thinking about you. Do post pics. I can't wait. Barb: Woohoo on the two pounds! Really good, girlfriend! Congratulations! I'll be going back to induction soon too. I suspect that this big trip that we are taking will actually help with that. DH doesn't tend to want to stop at any of the fast food places. (In fact he really hates them) We've set a per diem amount for food and lodging. It includes lunches in the car. We usually go to a grocery store early in the am and buy lunch stuff. I'll have a cooler in the car to carry perishables. Anywhoo, I admire your resolve. Judy: Thanks for the work on the logo, friend. It is awesome. Sometime I would love to know how you did that? I just love learning new things that I can do on the computer. Do you have a graphics program of some kind? Anywhoo, it is cool? You are working hard, girlfriend. Looking forward to the time that you can post about you, but I know that this is a frantic time of year for you. No worries. We'll catch up when you have time! Donna: Hey, sounds like you came back in the right frame of mind about work. Congratulations. I think about you living in that mess in your living room, though. I think it is stressful to have things torn up. I tend to be one of those people who wants things done NOW or sooner. I love it when it's done, but hate what it takes to get there. Well, we are coming close to the leaving time. I've still got a lot on my list of things to do, but they are pretty easy things. Today we go over to my old church to have our pictures taken together. (DH and I) They are doing a church directory and it seemed a really good way to have a Christmas present for all the kids. Our pic won't be in the directory because I have "left" there. We are going to dress casually. We've had these "directory" pictures taken before and they are always to formal, because we have been the "Pastors." Today is the last day for my housekeeper. I have to start cleaning house for myself, guys!! Aaack. (Only kidding) Of course, for the next month it will be cleaning "car." Back later, Peace, Peg
