| I'm not an expert on medical care in Canada, but I do know that often Canadians come to the US for specialized treatment. There is a big hospital in Galveston, Texas that specializes in burn treatment. I'm sure there are others that I am not aware of. Among things that are being done in some of the hospitals here is a new procedure that uses skin grafts from donor corpses. My prayers are for Lissa and successful treatment in a location close to home. But, if further treatment is necessary and you feel like she is not getting what she needs, encourage them to look into hospitals here. Of course all that is said without regard to health insurance and coverage restrictions that she may have.

Yeah, that's what it was, alright. Sorry it didn't work. The URL links to my profile in LCE's photo gallery. It's a kind of before/after . If you log into the LCE photo gallery and sort by User ID for Teelbee, you'll see it.For NVPL, I like Bali's 2744 Lacy Scamp Brief. Second best is Olga's Secret Hug Style 913. :eyes: Boy, this topic is really an exercise in TMI, fer sher. Okay, here's a link to a few Asilomar pictures. This weekend, Asilomar had lovely weather for being right on the ocean. It's also a nature preserve, hence the picture of the deer that settled down to rest about 30 feet from the Arts and Crafts era ballroom (designed by Julia Morgan) while we were decorating and doing sound checks. I didn't actually take my camera out that much, and it turns out that DH didn't shooting any pics either. I thought he was getting some shots, but no. So, no pictures of me, I'm afraid. I told him I wanted a picture in my evening outfit, but we both got so caught up in the events, we forgot to pose for pictures. :ivyhead: Oh, well. The event ran very smoothly - I had few fires to put out and most of those turned out to be phantoms -- Asilomar did a really great job by us this year. I wasn't able to dance much myself, but I had a great time anyway. After the Friday dance, I stayed up partying until about 2:30 am. I was up by 7:30 to check on the classrooms and event orders. Saturday, I finally left the after-after pary about 3:30 am (4:30 if you discount the time change to PST). Up again by 7:15 to unlock rooms and deal with more logistics. It sounds exhausting, but I just get a buzz from all the high spirits that energizes me like nothing else.

| Donna, bless your DIL's heart. What a heartbreak for her and for you all. My hope is that she can get the help she needs this time. Oh my goodness. Please keep us posted. Shell, will be thinking of you tomorrow. Plastic surgeons work wonders, and you'll heal looking great--and cancer free. That's the important thing. Know you'll be in all our thoughts and prayers here. TB, cool pictures. The women look so elegant, and the men? Gosh I love a man in kilts! I so miss seeing you, though. Good work with the weekend, and glad you got that wonderful rush of accomplishment! OH YES, the Olga panties are my all time favorites, TB. Have been for years! I love the Secret Hug 23913 French Brief. I wear the 913 if I think my belly button is going to show Ok,ok, gotta hit the weights quickly...

| Donna, yes, prayers are ascending (as Peg so aptly describes it) for Lissa. If this new operation does not take, I would think of having a serious discussion with her doctor about going to another doctor or hospital. As Judy mentioned, here in the states or perhaps a larger Canadian city like Toronto. The poor girl is going through Hell, I am sure. And your son and grandchildren are affected also. (((HUGS))) Terry, the photos are great! Just wish there was at least one of YOU! This event was a rather large to-do, wasn't it? Balls, meetings, bars, and what looks like a luncheon or two plus dinners . . . oh, my! I remember one year I was co-chairman of an Opera Guilds International convention here in KC. I ran on nervous and excited energy, just like you did, so I know what you're talking about. I spent about an hour at that lingerie site. Saw some possibilities but do have to try them on. This may be a Saturday project! I jotted some styles down to look for . . . Brenda, LOL!!!!! The Secret Hug 913 if your belly button is going to show? :bellydanc And good for you to do yoga AND weights today. Girl, you are on a roll. You are going to make me look bad . . . . And Shelley, prayers ASCENDING for you, too, that tomorrow will go well! Think DH will spring for another dozen roses? Seriously, please post as soon as you are able. XXOO

| Seems to me I recall (she said, stroking her goatee) that Teelbee doesn't like to have her picture taken. It seems to me, in fact, that there are very few pictures of said Teelbee anywhere on this site. Hmmmmm. You're not getting away with that story, Terry. We're going to have to take a picture of you when you are not looking! And, I LOVE a man in a kilt too. In fact, I am married to one! He looks absolutely smashing in his kilt. And, of course, The Wallace tartan is almost the best. The MacPherson tartan is the best (that's my clan!) I could have spent an hour on that lingerie site too, Alida. But, I MADE myself get off and get something done. Actually got a lot done today. DH gone all day and I began trying to actually get everything I want to take in the way of clothing into suitcases. HA! That's a joke. Yup. DH is going to have to leave his things home. More tomorrow, Peg

| Yes, TB is camera shy, as far as the internet is concerned, but I was at least hoping to get a shot of her back! (Or that famous PROFILE :gorgeous: ) Alida, I'm sore from yesterday's brief workout. Hate to admit it, but I LOVE feeling sore again.. Well the shaved beef turned out ok. I seared it in a very hot skillet, then added a bag of fire roasted veggies from Trader Joes. It was wonderful! Rachel, I LOVE your Halloween costume! You are so cute! Oh, the SS info I was looking for was on what's available in prescription plan options in FL for DH's Mom. Do you know for her zip code the SS site says there are 64 options to choose from? Sheesh! How is an aged senior expected to make a sound decision. I'm not sure if I can help much myself! We had 28 kids come by last night--an all time record. Almost all grade school and under, and just TOO cute! I was glad to see a parent with every group, either on the sidewalk or following in a car. I also was able to meet the little one belonging to a hispanic family that moved in down the street recently. She was adorable, dressed as Tinkerbell. Hope I haven't missed anything I'd intended to say to everyone. Tomorrow will be a busy day, and I may not have a chance to check in early. Take care of yourselves out there!

| Hi guys, Just a quick lil visit tonight. Thank you all so very much for the good thoughts and prayers. I will ask you again, my friends, for more good thoughts and prayers for tomorrow for myself and for Donna's DIL, Lissa. The following may be TMI, so beware to the squeemish. I removed the dressing today from my nose, and I was not prepared for what I saw. The *defect* is now about the size of an M&M candy, and almost as deep; I cried. As for the procedure tomorrow, it is called a naso-labial flap and reconstruction. The area where my defect is, the skin is not very mobile, so it is not really possible to approximate the edges and bring them together to suture. What the plastic surgeon plans on doing is *creating* a flap of skin to cover the defect and the way he will do this is to cut a upside down *V* on my upper nose where the skin is more mobile, and then he will make another incision to the side of the defect and try and pull the flap of skin down over the defect along with the side flap of skin. Clear as mud, eh? He did draw us a pic in the office and explained the scar will most likely look like a 2 leaf clover, so to speak. He expects the whole healing process to take up to 3-5 months regarding the cosmetic effect. I have requested local anesthesia with IV sedation since I have severe PONV (post op nausea and vomiting) with general anes. I will talk to the anesthesiologist in the morning, but hope they will be able to accommodate my wishes regarding anesthesia. Being in this profession is a good thing for me; I don't like surprises, and I always want to know the game plan right down to the *nitty-gritty*...LOL. The surgery should take about an hour and it's scheduled for 1215 CST. Nothing to eat or drink after Midnite, so no coffee for me in the morning...damn! So, that's about it. I've had the headache from hates today, which is probably referred pain from the nose most likely...aacckk! I've enjoyed the on going lingerie discussion here today. I've nothing to add except to say I'm a Warner's girl myself...LOL. I'll try and drop in when we get home tomorrow afternoon; it may be around 1500 or so, hopefully sooner. On the addiction thing...Morphine sulfate is used by addicts due to its action on the central nervous system. It's addicting both physically and mentally. Think about it. If you feel *no pain*, the brain would prefer to stay in a state of no pain; therefore the brain is in constant thought to seek the drug that makes the brain AND body feel no pain. You guys are my *rock* of strength! Love to you all, and some ((((big ole Okie hugs!)))) me

| Joining in the group (((((hug))))) and prayer circle. Tomorrow will be a thoughtful day. I spent today "in retreat" with several colleagues at the Hallmark Farm. This is an actual farm property north of Kansas City, where Hallmark maintains a historic farmhouse as a meeting space, and are restoring the surrounding land as native prairie. Good place to spend a beautiful autumn day. I managed to keep my mitts out of the popcorn, trail mix, Chex mix, leftover Halloween candy, and panini. Aaargh. It wasn't easy! Time for bed. Sleep well. |

| Shelley, my thoughts and prayers are with you, too. It sounds like the plastic surgeon is on top of this stuff. Donna, sending healing vibes and a prayer for resilience and renewed recuperative power for DIL. Peg, those Wallace and McPhearsons are fine tartans indeed, although I'm partial to the Weathered Douglas, myself. I have a dance acquaintence, a Shapiro, who designed his own tartan pattern for the Shapiro family. It's really the most attractive tartan I've seen. It incorporates fushia and turqoise threads, but looks quite traditional when the colors are blended together. Dan even had it approved and registered by the Lord Lyon in Scotland.

| Good Morning All! [ Bren, thanks for moving my post (I?m sorry to be such a pain in the @ss) ] Much love and hugs to both Lissa and Shelley? Donna, hugs to you, too ? you are involved and stressed as well? I hope, as Judy and Alida mention, that if you are unable to get satisfaction from your local health care providers, that you are able to take her to the care she needs, wherever that might be. Shelley, I am just like you ? I want to have all the details. I appreciate your descriptions very much because we all know people who go through these kinds of things (even if they aren?t exactly the same) and I love to be informed and be able to track what is happening. I love surprises only when they involve friends and loved ones laughing and sipping drinks. Godspeed my dear, and know we are out here ? spread around the world thinking of you and sending you our love. Barb, sounds like Hallmark needs to get with the program and at least put out a lousy tray of crudit?s and dip!! LoL ?you know, you gals are all so classy ? honestly ? I?m such a goober when it comes to this stuff <<blush, blush>> so for me it?s?..Hanes Her Way ? sporty cut ? satisfy my three biggest needs: gotta be cotton, gotta be cheap, gotta have lots of room for BIG thighs (yeah, and love the big wide waistbands, reduce the bulge) My Halloween costume was, no lie, $12.99 at the local supermarket (well, the local supermarket where my DSis lives), the wig and make-up were like $4.99 total at Fabric Land (in NJ where I buy my material ?stashes? for quilting)? and the costume was designed to fit sizes 4-14 (!) so I figured I didn?t have to worry much about the fit Brenda, the beef sounds lovely? I miss beef here <<sigh>>. Mom has promised filet mignon when DH and I get home next week (next week?! :( already?!) ? gotta love Costco! Terry, I loved the photos! I didn?t realize you were camera shy! No pressure but I?d love to see your beautiful face on our boards (even just once? Even just a little one?). And now I?m curious to see that ?profile? (I also got a ?page error? when I tried to click on it) It does look like your weekend was a smashing good time! I know about that whole adrenaline rush thing, too ? amazing isn?t it?! Alida - Big calf boots ? I may order the cowboy boots ? have always wanted some, I?m only JUST a size 7 though, so we?ll see how it goes ? I f I order them this week, they arrive in NJ next week, I try them on and so if they don?t fit I can get them in the box and return them before I get on a plane for home! Peg, I hope you are hanging in there ? rest and pain relievers ? I?m thinking about you and am sending pain-free vibes (can you feel them? I?m off to get my (late!) day started? I need to get the next quilt worked on ? November 11th is just around the corner.

Wow! Rachel! you got a fantastic look for a bargain price! I love dressing up for Halloween, too.... Wigs, make-up, get up, the whole 9 yards. Sometimes, people don't even recognize me! This is from a few years ago at Scottish country dance Halloween party. Seriously, ~nobody~ could figure out who I was, and it was actually making some folks a little nervous. That's me in the lower right corner with DH (in his Ancient Douglas kilt) The Rastafarina costume was a really cheap outfit to put together, too.

| A Rasta in a kilt! Priceless. Actually, Teel, I remember when you posted that Before/After picture, with the "visual aid" for the Before. I thought that cybermodel looked pretty good, even at a higher weight. You, of course, look great--even in the casual pose. Can't tell about you in the costume--but you look, uh, festive. Donna and Shelley--the angels are on it. Hope all goes well today. As for the Hallmark snack foods--everybody brought to share. I brought string cheese for myself, and a healthy lunch. I've never been a snacker, which is one reason why LC works well for me without unbearable temptation. My DH has always kept candy around. During this induction, I find that I miss nuts a lot. So that's one thing I'll add back in (carefully) when I get ready to bump up the carbs again. Nuts and Maggie's cereal. Now you KNOW I've gone off the LC deep end. ![]() Rachel, I love the idea of flying all over the world--but I can imagine that it takes a great deal of stamina. My retirement plans include lots of travel, but my first target is the good ol' U.S. of A. I want to see the Tetons! I want to see the Grand Canyon! I want to be a leaf-peeper in New England. Oh, the places you'll go (is that Dr. Seuss?) Take care today, my dears. |

| ~Prayer Circle~ Starting at 5:44 this morning . . . unless Barb beats me to it! Shelley: You know we are all praying for you! Your doctor sounds like he knows what he's doing. You will have a beautiful nose! I do have some questions, but I'll wait until you are back on line. Looking forward to your report this afternoon . . . if you are up to it! Terry: Aha. Another photo behind sunglasses. Now don't take this wrong. I am grateful for any picture I can get! But I really think Peg was talking about a regular picture . . . without sun in your eyes, hands covering face, sunglasses covering your beautiful eyes . . . and dreadlocks covering your gorgeous hair! BTW, that Halloween picture was a stitch! Great wigs! And yeah, in your "after" picture, that bra DID do a great job. Very uplifting, LOL! As for Shapiro getting a tartan . . . maybe there's hope for a Wolczek Tartan (my maiden name) ???? oohh. I'd love it in peach and pale green! Barb, your retreat sounded heavenly. But Rachel's right. They need to get with the program and provide some healthier foods! Big kudos to you for keeping your mitts off. You have Willpower of Steel. Brenda, that's a good kind of sore . . . when you know what you did worked! I guess I am behind the curve on SS. Didn't know there were prescription options . . . or are you talking about the Medicare part of SS? Must be. Gosh. Can't wait till I'm 65! Peg, about your comment on the lack of Teelbee photos! Ya think we may get her to actually post a full-face/without sunglasses photo????Your poor DH. No clothes for him, eh? Maybe you need to buy more luggage! But it does sound like you are getting down to the wire. Clothes actually in suitcases. WHEN do you pull out of the driveway? Rachel, I can't believe that costume only cost $12.99!! Just shows you the power of a camera. I guess Hollywood relies on that fact all the time! As for Hanes, believe me, if I could find cheap, I would! I have too many "requirements." Tummy control, boob lift, slinky so clothes will slide, no VPL, no fat globs, etc. etc. BTW, those cowboy boots are on sale! Gosh, you leave next week? You just got home! That's what I call real Globe Trotting. If I recall correctly, you and your DH are going to the states to pound the pavement for new assignments. OK. Here's your chance to explain what you DO what you have to do to find new assignments! Judy, I hope your daughter will find some boots she likes at the site. As I mentioned above to Rachel, they just started a sale today. How's everything at school doing? Ilse, it sounds like you have a winner with those smoothies! They sound delicious! Hope all is well with school and your swimming and traffic eases up a little for you! Donna, I mentioned this earlier, and I'll say it again . . . prayers are being said for your DIL. Please keep us posted. Oh, Barb, I was going to post this link when I found the November thread locked. Remember that e-zine I told you about? They just came out with the November issue. Here's the link. If it doesn't work, just go to www.lowcarbluxury.com and at the top there's a link called "Read The Magazine." I noticed all the recipes are old ones in this issue. An interesting article on Chromium, and why drinking a glass of wine can slow weight loss. Elementary, but nice to have a refresher. As I mentioned, the e-zine is beautifully done. Another free day for me. If I am not careful, this can get addicting. Yesterday, I tried to get my cell phone switched over to my son's family plan. All was going smoothly until Cingular said son has old technology phones and I have the newest technology phone so the twain CANNOT meet. Big DUH?? It has nothing to do with the plans, or the cost of the plans, or the contracts. I told the guy this sounds like a ploy by Cingular to get people to upgrade their phones. But he told me son can get one of the FREE phones. He just has to be on record at Cingular to have an updated phone. This makes NO SENSE. But there it is. Have a wonderful day, everyone! And Shelley, if you read this prior to leaving for your surgery: ((((HUGS))))) and ((((KISSES)))))
