| I hope everyone is healthy and well. The last couple of days, I have experienced what shouldn't make sense, but does, due to traffic. Yesterday, I swam in the colder pool for 10 minutes and then in the warm one for 20. The warm one opened a few minutes late, so by the time I drove to work, I got there the time I normally would if there were no traffic issues. I didn't get there 10 minutes early! Today, I swam 20 minutes in the colder pool and 10 minutes in the warm one. I stopped at two supermarkets (the first one being a waste of time) and actually got to work later than I usually do. (I didn't spend a lot of time in either supermarket.) Driving home has been fun, as they are doing construction on one road. I need to avoid that. I still need to stop at Target and Wal-Mart, but haven't felt like doing so on the way home. I would do it in the morning if they were open that early. My knees have been hurting more, probably because of the damp weather (that which gives Brenda migraines). I don't know if falling yesterday had anything to do with the knee pain. Last night I woke up with leg cramps. The wrist will be ok, I think. Well, a student needs my attention, so I will said good-bye! I hope everyone has a great day!

| Morning all! I got home from work yesterday and walked into the living room, and it was like night and day. Having a professional due the final mudding makes all the difference in the world. It's so smooth looking and the mud he uses is so soft. He wants to build up a few little areas today and then it should be ready for sanding. And, the way he's done it, the sanding should be a breeze. I just might get to paint this weekend. Oh, that would be such a treat! I called my dil last night and Mister is doing wonderful. He's actually putting pressure on the bad hip which the vet didn't think he would be able to do. They think the pelvis will heal itself. And, he's able to go to the bathroom. He will still need surgery to take a chunk of bone off the hip where it was broken. The vet says if they don't do it, he will suffer from arthritis and that would be more painful than what he's going through. Lissa is so happy...her baby is doing well. He doesn't want any of the other pets around him though and snaps at them. Must be afraid that they might hurt his bad hip. I guess she's taking flack from her parents for spending so much money on "just a dog". They aren't pet people, so she just calls me and I reassure her she's doing the right thing. After all, they are our children and we would spend every penny we have to make sure they are okay. Did you see my bathroom scale go flying through the window this morning? Thought it was a flying saucer? It hates me, I know it does, cause it went up again this morning. I always have a hard time keeping weight off in the winter cause I'm not so active but this year seems really hard. Today is a new day....I'm going to eat right! Terry: Glad the visit went great with Peg and Bob. I envy you guys being able to meet each other. My turn may come yet. Alida: I heard yesterday that there is only 3 more episodes of Survivor. That probably means 2 more Thursdays and then the windup on a Sunday. I'll sure miss that show. Any bets on whose going to win? Still kind of early. Ilse: Hope you're feeling better now. Sorry your knees are hurting. Winter cold can be sore hard on the joints. I bet that swimming feels good. Peg: Good to hear from you again...you were missed. You sure are covering the miles, but it's nice to see the country without being rushed. Well, we finally have some sunshine today and it's so nice. It's been so dark and dreary and snowy and cold the last week. We sure need this. More snow on the forcast.....YUK!

| Good afternoon! I came on line and read some posts this AM and then one thing lead to another. Finally getting back. Donna: What good news about Mister! Fingers and toes crossed that he can heal well and come through his operation with ease. Humph! I hate people who say "it's just a dog." God made them. Tell your DIL to just mention the story of Noah if she runs into that kind of attitude again. (Rant over) Only 3 more episodes? That can't be right. There are 5 (or is it 6?) people left. Well, maybe it is. There will be 3 in the final episode (prior to the final live special), so that leaves 2 or 3 others to knock off. Sometimes they run a "recap" episode. I miss that show too, when it's not on. Thursdays are not the same without it! Your scale went flying, eh? Mine probably would, too, but I have been avoiding it. Eating OK, though. Just have to get back in the groove. Hang in there! I am so happy you're happy with your mudder! You are probably wondering why you didn't hire him in the beginning, LOL. But you gained a lot of experience. Ilse, sorry to hear about your fall. That type of fall can really hurt. Glad to hear your wrist is doing OK. Thank goodness your student ran to get some ice! Terry, well, I am disappointed in not seeing your picture, but I respect your feelings about this. Although, I am now wondering if you are in the Witness Protection Program. Glad you had a wonderful time. And you got to meet Bob, too! Peg, you're almost HOME!! Terry mentions some ad weather. Hope it's smooth sailing for you. Barb, I was able to retrieve the business section out of the trash and read the blurbs on your relatives. Did you know they were going to be in the paper or was it a big double surprise? Haven't gotten out my old Dr. A yet. When I mentioned it being more "pure" I only meant that all the low carb foods were not on the market then, not that it was "better." I can only just imagine all the bashing against LC. I try not to read it because I will just get frustrated. Do get Monkeewrench from the library. It's an excellent mystery! Brenda, Judy, Shelley: How are you doing? Sheesh. I have spent hours on the internet today checking out fashion rings for my DIL. Barb, I checked those Mystic Topaz's. That's a beautiful stone! And Target (of all places) has some! Think tomorrow I'll brave the elements and go out shopping. Good day, everyone!

| Hi everyone! Sorry for the MIA status again, but work this week was almost unbearable. We were very busy, had some pretty sick patients, and some *needy* doctors ![]() THANK GOD I"M OFF FOR A WHOLE WEEK!!! I just talked with my DD and they are at LAX waiting to board their flight. She will have nearly a 2 hour lay over in Salt Lake City, and arrive here in OKC at 2143 tonight. It will be a long afternoon for me...LOL. I think I might change into my sweats and run up to the gym for an hour of cardio. Anyhoo....I've been following along at a distance. It seems we are all busy...couldn't be the time of year, now, could it??? Peg and Teel...so glad you guys had a good time! I hope we can make this OOOklahoma thing happen in the spring! Bren, girlfriend...how's the H/A? Better, I hope. Are you doing any jewerly projects at this time? I would think you could be as busy as a little bee with special orders of your pretties! BLING!!! Barb, I so agree with what you said about our WOE and not having to defend it. The folks I work with don't mention it much anymore. Once in a while someone will mention *doing atkins*, then within a few weeks or so, they are onto something else. They often ask me how I can stay on a *diet* that long. My usual answer is, as you say, it's not a diet, it's my WOE/WOL now. They still don't get it. I just smile Judy, did you get the grades in? I bet you are glad that is checked off the list, eh? Then it will be time for finals and semester grades...oye...it never ends! Donna, I am sooooo relieved Mister is perking up and doing so good. That little guy had lots of ladies here in the US sending up doggie prayers for him!!! You just keep telling Lissa she's doing the right thing by nursing him back to health. She'll get love and devotion back ten fold! And I'm with you on the scales; they hate me, and I hate them at the moment! Iwas up 2 lbs this am!!! Most likely the soy sauce I endulged in on my stir fry chicken & veggies last night...aacckk! Ilse, sorry your knees are continuing to be a problem. Do you use those little ride on carts when you shop in the big stores? It might really help cut down on the knee pain if you can get one in the store, and don't mind using one. DH has an uncle with very bad knees, and he almost always gets the little ride on cart; that's the only way he can shop, really. Rachel...now you've been gone long enough...come on home, sweetie! You are missed! Everyone else...a big hello! Off to the gym for a session with the stair climber and TM. woohoo! later chickadees, Shelley

| Hey Gang, I have a bit of time before DH comes home to wave to everyone and catch up a bit. Donna, so very happy to hear your news about Mister. What a treasure he is. And also thrilled that you've hooked up with a contractor who can really do a good, fast job. You'll be soooooo happy to have a good working relationship with this guy for this and future projects! Doesn't a pro job on the mudding look great? Be careful in all that snow, too! You know, we complain a lot about winter here in Chicago, but in comparison, it's really not that bad. TB and Peg, so glad you guys were able to get together. Sounds like a lovely lunch and a lovely time. By the way, I knew in my bones we wouldn't be seeing a picture of your face, Terry, and that's perfectly ok. I did think we might get smoke and mirrors, LOL!!!, or a masks and feathers Woohoo Shell, a week off and your family coming in, too. You will have such a wonderful time! Looking forward to the lastest picture. OH! Forgot to say that if we can manage an OKC get-to-gather in the Spring, DH has enough frequent flyer miles for a ticket and said I could rent a car. I'd love to see you and anyone else who can make it, and could visit some of my cousins, too. Most I haven't seen since the 70's. Yes, I'm sure I should be making lots of BLING for the holidays, but alas, I'm not. Rats, DH home early! Oh well, that means I get my kitchen faucet fixed tonight. See you all later.

| Ok, continuing..... Alida, great idea for your DH to do security. I think if I remember his picture correctly, he'll look great in a uniform, too Ilse, glad your wrist seems to be ok. I imagine it was a painful fall, regardless. Judy, Barb, seems like I read the original Atkins book way when, but in those days when I was dieting I was usually trying (and failing) to eat tiny amounts and could calories. Don't we all wish we'd gotten the message in the 70's--and heeded it.

| another flash for me.......... It seems that I have time to read, but not write a long post. We have had after school practice for Aca Dec everyday this week. It's been almost 6:00 by the time I get home each day. Saturday we have a big practice meet, and next Wednesday evening is a Speech and Interview contest. We are down to the wire and packing it in! I think of each of you often and promise to spend more time soon.

| Sigh. Just lost a post. Again: Good morning! Judy, I was wondering what was happening with Aca Dec. Seems like you are hard at it! Is the contest next Wednesday beween your own students or with another school? Brenda, it seems like a few of us did try Atkins back in the 70's. I have to echo your sentiment about wishing we would have gotten the message back then! There was an article in the KC newspaper right around Thanksgiving taking a poke at some of the year's "Turkeys." One of them was the Atkins Diet. Can't remember exactly what was said, but the final line was "pass the mashed potatoes." I went to the paper on line to find the article but I have to pay to retrieve it. About a month ago I got a card in the mail to sign up for free retrieval. Sigh. I think I threw it out. Hmm. Sounds like a possible get-together in Oooooklahoma may be in the actual works! You already got an "OK." My situation is in such a flux right now I can't plan anything. But weekends should be doable. Barb and I could fly down the road in her Miata . . . or my mini-van. Somehow the Miata sounds like more fun! We could listen to a mystery book-on-CD while we travel and try to figure out whodunnit. Shelley, your daughter must be snug in her "old" bed right now. (For that matter, most of your probably are!) I know you are so excited! Have a wonderful visit . . . and don't forget to post pictures! And yes, the ad starts this Saturday. It's a horrible time to try to sell a business but, as usual, the Braden Timing has come into play. I can't begin to tell you how our timing SUCKS with everything. Buy a house when the real estate market is high. Sell a house when it's low. When I needed to sell some 3M stock for our down payment, the stock hit a 52-week low, then shot back up the week after I sold it. Started 3M business in January, just missing yellow page deadline. I won't even begin to go into the stock market! Donna, I caught a commercial for Survivor. You are right. Three more episodes. It's really getting down to the wire now. Final Four? I am hoping it will be Steph, Rafe, Danni and Cindy. Somehow I just can't see Judd making it. Lydia The Fishmonger either. Did you know that Danni was from the KC area? As if the cap she wears with KC on it isn't a tip-off. This game can turn on a dime, but I am hoping Steph or Rafe win in the end. Rachel, you should be back in Tbilisi . . . Quote:
Well, gang, better get my morning going. Hoping you all have a wonderful day!
