| Good morning! This morning I was up and about a tad earlier. I made my morning smoothie and headed to swim. I barely had enough time afterwards to return the lights I had bought at Menards and buy some more lights of a different kind. I bought a thin type of garland too. Not sure if I will really use it. When I made my wreath, I did not use a glue gun, just used the branches of the wreath to wrap around the fishing line the ornament was attached to. Obviously, that approach only works with a fake wreath. Yesterday, the only thing I did after work was to buy the brake pads. I wish you all a great day!

| Good Morning from the still shivery east end of the midwest I'll be short, too. Well, I always way that!I'm treating myself to a massage (I think) in a couple of hours. A spur of the moment decision, but something my intuition seems to the calling for. The reason I said "I think" is that the woman I called does several modalities, so I'm not sure what she's going to decide I need. Nevertheless another shower and defoliation is in order in case I get nekkid, LOL!!! This is one of those things I will have to pay for from the "eyes only" credit card, Peg. I thoroughly enjoyed Love Actually last night, even more so after watching all of the deleted scenes. Thanks for the recommendation, guys! Judy, always a place for you around the campfire. Any time. But I think you and a couple of other of my dear friends here (you know who you are!) are definitely amazing "women who do too much." Donna, you are on a roll! Yup, that new drywall really soaks up the primer, doesn't it? Barb, glad you checked in. Alida, I was worried about you, kiddo! Barb and Alida, just like I don't cook, I don't iron, either. Well, maybe in an emergency, but I finally figured out that's what dry cleaning establishments were for. Of course, I also tend to choose clothes I think will come out of the dryer ready to go. But iron? Yuck!! Barb, if you have to choose either a) or b) and can't have both next time around, choose a)!!! With enough money, you can hire anything done Alida, woohoo on getting some offers! That's marvelous! And to get one from a customer is the highest compliment for your work. Your job today sounds like a big one, so I hope it's also an easy one. I think maintenance, this time of year, is a reasonable goal, Alida. Perhaps we can all have another go after the first of the year, and make Judy's Top of the Mind in 2006 a reality in our minds. To everyone else, I'll come back later with a massage report. I've only had two other massages, so this will be interesting.

| Hi Gang! Barb; It's OUR fire. Not mine. I just made it up! We all need to invent our own picture of it. It's what is comforting to ME, though. I hope it is for you too. Alida: 50 windows! Geez. I would be tired after 2. Also, what good news about the business, huh? Could you not work if you got the right price? My DD3 is the Director of Development for the children's museum in Pasadena. It is a wonderful old museum that has completely renovated and been open again for two years. She was in on the beginnings of it then. They continue with a HUGE capital campaign that she is responsible for. She is doing wonderfully. Well, I'm going to try the "Pumpkin thingy" today. I'm sending DH off to the grocery store to buy the stuff. It is funny to be in a place where I don't have "extras" that I normally have at home. (pans, floour, sugar, etc) But,. I'll persevere. Have a good day, Bren., Judy, Donna, Ilse, Terry, Rachel. Peace, Peg

| Hey guys! I don't know where my head was this morning, but as I was getting dressed to go on my (66 window) job, Bob wakes up and tells me it's going to snow today. BIG snow. And this job is about a 45 to 1 hour drive north. PLUS it's only going to hit around 15-20 degrees. So after checking TV and internet weather, I call the customer to find out if the windows are single or double pane. As I thought, single pane. The minute my water hits that glass, it will freeze up. Not ideal conditions for hanging film, LOL. So quick switch of gears and go out to do another job. This one is etch for a builder in town. Quick 1 hour job turns into 2 hours because they don't have the electric wired in the new house yet. I could not use my fan to help dry the etch. Just picture me trying to BLOW on the stuff. Barb, I got home at 11:30 and the streets were already getting fairly bad. I hope you didn't drive your little Miata today. Perhaps you didn't even go in to work? Anyway, please be careful driving home. Brenda, woohoo! Enjoy that massage. I've gotta get "Love Actually." Now that's THREE recommendations, from people I trust. Peg, it must be somewhat frustrating to realize Whoops! Can't do X because I don't have Y. I see many trips to the store! As for perhaps getting our price for the business, I would still have to work. But perhaps have the luxury of not being pressed to find a high-paying job and instead be able to take a job I think would be interesting. Perhaps even part-time. Understand? Ilse, you are right. Don't need a glue gun for a wreath. But I sometimes make up my own little "groupings." For that I use a glue gun because sometimes it's pretty small. Off to make Pralines and Penuche Fudge. Anyone want to takes bets on whether or not I'll lick a spoon here and there?

| I had a chance to run out and do my return at Hobby Lobby. I am trying to decide if I need to return at Wal-Mart or if I should give a duplicate DVD as a Christmas gift to my DD and DSIL. Christmas may be messed up. We usually celebrate Christmas Eve with my family. My dad is going to have to travel to Latvia (one of the former republics of the USSR). He will only be back late on the 23rd. He thinks he will be too tired for the next day. Christmas, my DD and DSIL celebrate with his family. They are going to be out of town for New Years, so that is not an option. Well, enjoy the rest of the day. (Brenda, a massage! Sounds yummy!)

| Hi tribe! Hit and run for me. Kiddos left today headed back to LA...sniff, sniff...<insert tears here>. Always hate to see them go. They got out just in the nick of time though. They took off at 3:40PM, just as the snow was moving into OKC. Here is a snapshot of my little Isaijah and his ole nonney. I swear he has grown a foot since last March...LOL. The rest of this week looks intense at work so I'm told. So, I'll check in again when I can. <sigh> You know I'd rather be around the campfire on this chilly night, but lots of chores to do before going back to work. (((hugs to all))) Shelley

| You and Isaijah are too cute!! Two peas in a pod, for sure. And yes, he sure looks taller (and a little more grown up) since this summer's picture Oh, Alida, if you lick that spoon, do tell us if Pralines and Penuche taste as good as we remember, LOL. Your decorations, by the way, were so cute, better than store bought, for sure. I do have a glue gun, if I get inspired (or desperate). Off to bed (really, to read). See you all tomorrow...

| Good morning! Shelley, the pircure of you and Isaijah is adorable! He has your incredible and beautiful eyes. I am glad your daughter left before The Snow. I woke up today (3:30 am) and I can see out the window. There's so much snow, it's actually light outside. My guess is 6 to 8 inches. I hope the snow plow guys come before Bob decides to shovel. Usually they come after. Hoping work goes smoothly for you, Shel. After such a wonderful week off, I imagine it will be tough going back. Speaking of snow, how do all of you who have jobs handle this? I mean, do you not go into work or do you actually go out in this stuff? One of the luxuries of having my own business is that I call the shots. Working for someone else, I would feel compelled to go to work. Just curious. Brenda, I did do a little taste. The Penuche taste was about the size of a pecan. Yikes. It was so sweet it was almost unpleasant. Now the Pralines (taste test about the same size) were wonderful. Just like I remembered. OK. Now I know what they taste like, I can move on and know I am sending "good" stuff. How was your massage? What kind did you get? I prefer the deep muscle kind . . . where afterwards you know you had a massage! I think your idea of "having another go" at "Top of Mind" is a good one for January! :great: Oh! I bought some Oat Bran and tried that with Barb's cereal. I only used 1/8 cup, along with 1/8 cup of the wheat bran and 1/4 cup flax and 1/4 cup whey. Oh My! It was delicious! It's amazing what a little oat bran can do. This actually tasted like Oatmeal. Still going to keep this as an occasional treat, though. Donna: Done painting? Or is that a project for this weekend? How did the pampering go at your in-laws? Peg, did you make The Pumpkin Thingy? Awaiting your critique! Barb, are you going to brave the snow today? Please be careful if you do. Rachel, bazaars, chorales, dinner guests, oh my! How are you doing? Ilse: Hmm. I think a DVD recorder is a wonderful gift! Make life easier on yourself. Give DD the recorder. If she doesn't want it, let her return it! Terry & Judy: Not too many posts added since I last visited. We are all so busy! Today the guy who is interested in our business is going to stop by . . . unless he cancels because of the snow. Have to straighten the office up so it will look "professional!" Have a great day!

| Alida's right. It was unusually bright in the bedroom when I woke up this morning because of the snow outside. The snow is about six inches deep, and really pretty. I caught a ride home with kind friends last night, and left my car all cozy in the Crown Center garage. They'll pick me up again today--although I do have the option of the bus. Looks like traffic is moving fine on the nearest through street (Holmes), so there's no reason to worry about going to work today. It IS nice, though, to have an 18-yr old guy around the house. I don't mind shoveling snow--but I'm not turning down kidpower. Shelley, what a sweet picture to pop up first thing on my screen this morning. I know you're a doting nonney, for good reason. Luckily, while I was at Costco Tuesday evening, I grabbed a bag of frozen turkey burgers--they were giving out samples, and I thought they might come in handy. Well, they did last night, because DH wisely didn't brave the storm for a grocery run. I also bought a big package of deli-sliced ham, so I foresee ham and cheese omelets on the menu tonight. At Costco, I also picked up some Boursin cheese--a luxury treat. (It was a major impulse trip.) For lunch yesterday, I rolled up slices of ham spread with the cheese and green olives. Delicious and easy. This weekend, I'll get the rest of the ingredients for the "thingies" and the muffins. I'm actually looking forward to a little baking. I find that I retain a considerable "calorie consciousness" now that I'm thinking about maintenance all the time. Some of the LC sweet treats horrify me with calorie counts--and I'm just not sure about adding that kind of variety to my menu. But variety is the key to the future. So I guess I'll just have to experiment a bit and see what happens. Stay warm everybody. |

| Good morning, Barb! Ah, if traffic seems to be moving on Holmes, you will be OK. How nice to have a chauffeur! Also, you are lucky to have the option of the bus. Out here in OP, there are buses, but I'd have to drive my car to a bus stop! Have to agree with you about the calorie count in a lot of LC sweets. That's why I even shy away from the Mock Danish. Too much cheese puts the pounds on. That's the one thing I noticed while on OWL. I could have a bar and do OK. But have something with too much cheese and the next day I would be up several pounds. YMMV, I guess. My standard "sweet" treat now is a Donna Muffin. QUESTION TO ALL: I just opened up the box from Coldwater Creek. Two outfits I got for myself are going back (Sigh). But three tops are keepers! On to the question: when I opened up the package, I realized the purple sweater I got for my DIL is the same sweater I got for her last year. Last year was pink. She loves it and wears it all the time. So . . . do I give her the purple with apologies OR continue a search for another washable, cotton, LONG sweater in purple???? Believe it or not, this is a tough one. Most sweaters seem to be shorter. Thanks for your input!

| Alida, if the sweater is one she loves, she'll love it in a new color, too. She'll think you were so thoughtful to remember! ![]() I'm writing from the office. Getting here as a passenger in a 4-whl drive Subaru was easy. I'll have to see whether I'm brave enough to drive myself home tonight. Most of the roads will be scraped by then (with the possible exception of my street). But nothing will be melting off today in temps of 15 deg. I wanted to clear the front walk this morning, but couldn't find the snow shovel. Turns out DH used it to make a path to the woodpile last night, and left it lying flat on the ground. Now it's underneath 8 inches of snow, and he's the only one who knows how to find it. Harrumph. I should have made him get out of bed and dig it up for me. However, the snow is fluffy and I was able to sweep the walk with a broom. It will be very quiet at the office today, but I'd rather be here than hanging around the house. |

| Barb, LOL about the shovel! Know what you mean about a quiet office. Perhaps you'll get a lot of work done? I asked Bob about the sweater. He said "Look at how many polo shirts I have. Same shirt, different color." I replied, "Well, you're a GUY. That's different." He couldn't see the difference. So thanks for your input on this. Think I will keep it. Besides, I got 25% off. She can return it if she prefers another syle. Last year, it was described as a "Heart Zip Cable." this year it was described as "Gorgeous Casual Sweater." Our subdivision maintenance people just cleared our walk and driveway. Hooray!

| Good morning! I wish I had a long purple sweater. It's frustrating that women's tops are often made so short, especially after being in the laundry. I like to wear turtlenecks in the winter. I have a bunch of them I bought the last couple of years. But, I want to buy more, from the men's department most likely, where I know I can get them long enough and they will stay long enough. Not much else on the getting-ready-for Christmas front. I did stop at Hobby Lobby. They had stocking holder I wanted. I had one just like it at home I bought last week, The top was loose, so I will return the loose one and keep the other one. Hobby Lobby also had wrapping paper 1/2 price. I got a couple of rolls. I bought the wron replacement lights at Menards, so the one's I bought will need to go back. I don't know what would fit the bulbs I did buy. My new brake pads are installed, so my car is set for the 3-6 inches of snow we may get later today. I gassed up my DSIL's car (I had gassed up mine that same morning). He doesn't charge for his time when he works on my car, so filling up his tank seemed like the right thing to do. I wish you all a happy day!
