Default Reading DANDR Again

I've always kept my copy of DANDR handy. Up to now, I've always read it with the eyes of a "loser." And I've been officially at goal since about April this year (with a brief excursion back to induction, following summer vacation )

Lately, I've been reading the book again with more interest in the Maintenance parts. It's remarkable what insight and information Dr. A pops into this book in bits and pieces. A sentence here, a sentence there.

Consider this, in the Maintenance chapter (p. 251 in my edition): "Since life is change, your weight will, in fact, be constantly shifting up and down by small increments." Also, this warning (p. 243) about why people fail on maintenance: "They don't recognize just how strict the Maintenance diet still must be."

The FAQ chapter is well worth another look.

I believe I've accomplished a fundamental change in my pattern of eating that will be of benefit for years to come. But one thing hasn't changed: the way my body loves to build fat. I'm not "normal" and never will be.

I might have to buy another copy of DANDR as this one gets shabbier and shabbier.

Default Re: Reading DANDR Again

Barb, thanks for the heads-up. I know I tend to get a little sloppy about maintenance. And that's when the trouble starts. During the losing stage, my head was in the right place. Now I just have to re-visit that place for maintenance.
