Good morning!

I have to beg off this AM. I actually got up at 6 AM this morning! The contracts are ready to go and for some reason it's MY task to try to get five people to agree to one time, hopefully today.

I still have some boxing-up to do in preparation of moving stuff OUT. Plus, there's little training time left between today and the first job the new owners will do on Tuesday. I will be on the job with them, but hopefully will just "supervise!" So I have to get the office in shape for training, since I think the training will happen HERE. And probably Saturday. (Sigh)

Doctor report: Oncologist concurs tumor is most likely benign. Also thinks it's a Schwannoma. But it is in a rare spot. Has never seen one by the spine. Usually they are in the brain (that's where the hearing loss comes from.) If not treated, could lead to paralysis when it starts to press against spine. But it's good I have no symptoms. Although my fused wrist could hide some symptoms if they are there because my left hand is weaker anyway because of the fusion. But everything looks good. CyberKnife is the way to gom but it will be a battle with the insurance company. They are used to that and prepared for it. He assured me nothing will be done until they get an ironclad OK from the insurance co. Whew! Process could take 3 to 4 weeks. (Sigh). Doctors are meeting today to discuss my "case." Should know later today or Monday the final outcome on what they think should be done.

Sorry I am not responding to all of you today. But I have to say . . . Barb . . . a JAGUAR?? I have died and went to heaven!

Love you all and "see" you later. (Anxiety about meeting all of you? Nah. Just wish I was 10 pounds lighter! Hmm. WHAT TO WEAR??)

Okay. Cheerleader acknowledges anxiety attacks all around. Pre-game jitters is all. Once the convergence action starts, we'll all be in fine form. Meanwhile, everyone seems to have a lot to do, right?

Alida, PM your home address, so I can get a fix on how long it will take to get from my house to yours. I'll figure out the route to OKC, and give you a timetable for lift-off. Hope everything goes smoothly today.

Rachel, welcome back to the land of over-consumption and too much noise. But the people can be really nice here.

Judy, you're the least likely to whine of anybody, under the circumstances. Teaching is not for wimps. Sorry about the ring. That could have been a serious injury. Enjoy the weekend.

Shelley--that's your idea of short?? FWIW, I've observed that nurses in hospitals are often hefty. Puzzling for health professionals. But then, their schedules are hectic, and making good food choices is that much more challenging when you're on the run. Still...

Peg, hang in there. I can't imagine a group of people less likely to be critical of appearance, or anything else, than this one.

Bren, "no butt" is a relative perception. Still, I never get over the thrill of wearing jeans. I grew up with a mother who always said, "Ladies don't wear pants." I couldn't find a pair to fit me anyway. But wearing jeans is like...well, breaking a commandment or something.

Today we're being visited by Jeannette Walls, author of the memoir The Glass Castle. I just got around to picking up the book last night. If you've read Frank McCourt's memoir, you'll have some idea of the destitution of this woman's upbringing--viewed through the eyes of a child whose parents were weird but compellingly "creative" in their lifestyle.

I'm laying off the caffeine today. I've started a new higher dosage of thyroid meds today, and I don't want to confuse one kind of jitters with another.

Happy Friday!

Good morning.

No school today for our entire county. It's an institute day, but I canceled the workshop I had signed up for, so I have the day free. The workshop was to be nature walks in two different locations. I was nervous about all the walking. I also didn't want to drive as far as I normally do. My DGS is in a different county, but is also off of school today. He also has Monday off.

Yesterday, I went and looked at eyeglass frames again. I have uploaded pictures and would like opinions. The first two are from the eyedoctor I went to. The first one is similar to what I wear now. The last three are from yesterday.

I spent an hour in the pool today. They were playing oldies, which were less annoying.

I figured my options are (in regards to the noise level in the pool area): grin and bear it, try to find ear plugs that are comfortable and cut out more of the noise (I need cone-shaped ear plugs), join the other park district again that will turn the music off for me (not on the way to anything, so I would have to get up earlier and drive more), don't wear earplugs, let water get into my ears and be deaf to everything, including phone calls and other people around me. Hmmmm... decisions, decisions.

Well, I think my DSIL has finished b-fast, so I will go.

I wish you all well.

Agreed........... picking glasses is hard to do. Good idea using the cell phone camera.

Ilse, I'm leaning toward 0159. It's a little more modern look and uplifts the face. Wish I looked as good in that many styles.

Ilse, they are all attractive in different ways - but I am very particular to 0130 - I think they are the ones that make you look the youngest (not sure if that's something you are particularly interested in)... they seem a nice shape for your face/eyes!

Ilse: I like either 0159 or 0162 with 0159 being my first pick. It would be easier to see them all side by side, but I just went back and forth to the pictures.

Shelley: Lucy is just fine...no diabeties. She's just old. She's been a picky eater all her life so that probably accounts for being so tiny and thin. If she doesn't see me open the tin...she won't eat it. Don't know why she thinks there might be poison in it. lol

Yesterday was not a good day for me. Problems with my dd again so I ended up not getting much sleep last night. Feels like I have gravel in my eyes today. I wish I could just be the type of person who could just walk away and say she's a big girl now, but that's just not me. Maybe some day.

Last night I decided it was time to comb my big Maine Coone. He's getting so fat that he's not washing himself and there are mats forming. He hates to be combed and hates being held down even more. So today, I have a nice scratch on my face. Bad kitty! To make it worse, when I was finished, he put his face right up to mine and actually hissed at me. lol Might be funny now, but when you see those big teeth right in your face you realize just how he could have taken my nose off. He's good for a couple of days now and then maybe next time dh can do it.

I'm so glad that this is Friday. I don't think I could stand another day at work. When I wake up in the morning trying to find a good excuse to not be here, then I know it's time for a holiday or something!

I think the frames you tried last week looked great. To me, the other frames looked too heavy, although I acknowledge a certain bravado and style to them. And,some people, find that adding that drama to the face workes beautifully. When I first started wearing glasses, I went with heavy frames. But, my preference soon shifted to less prominent styles and colors - I like the glasses to disappear as much as possible.

I'm still involved in my friends' mom's health care; but that is tapering off. When they first returned after a 16-hour travel schedule, the family was too exhausted with jet lag and getting their own households functioning again to attend to her. Meanwhile, mom had been having conniptions, for days declaring that her rash was going to kill her, the pneumonia had returned, she was going to die, she has bronchitis, the doctors aren't ~doing~ anything plus they are clueless ... much drama queen miz'ry. I spent many hours at her bedside for reassurance and even started giving her bedside health care (changing diapers, hand feeding, etc.). An extra round of (unnessary) tests this week confirmed no pneu, no bronchiitis, no infection. Now that the kids are back and the tests were good, she's a (relatively) happy camper - even up and walking again during PT. Lots of funny, "too weird" things I could go into, but I won't try your patience further.

It wasn't all bad for me - I'd worked with very elderly women in a geriatric hospital during college. So, I was familiar with the anxiety and level of personal care old bodies need. I'd wanted to be a nurse, but all the nursing schools had 2 to 3 year waiting lists when I was in college. A pity as I believe I would have been a pretty good nurse.

DH got home late Wedn. and I had a dickens of a time picking him up. They've been doing construction on the roads to the various terminals at SJO for years, so the maze is different - and poorly marked - each time I go there. I got chased out of the unloading/loading zone twice while waiting for DH to emerge, and ended up driving the 2-mile loop to get back to the unloading/loading FIVE times! Plus, I forgot my cell phone, which was stupid. The second to the last circuit, he was waiting for me, but in the wrong place so I couldn't stop. When I finally got him on the last circuit, he snapped at me for passing him up. Wow, did I let him have it! It was starting to boil into a major dust-up, when he wilted, saying he was tired and cold - tacitly acknowledging that he was in the wrong.

Ooops, I lost track of time while reading LCE. I have to go get ready to meet someone... Hope to write more later...

Ilse, forgive me for not voting on the glasses. Leaning towards a thinner frame--I'm with Teel about wanting glasses as not-there as possible.

Teel, you're a saint. Hard to believe it was once difficult to get into nursing school, now that there's a shortage of nurses everywhere. It would be a great profession for portability. I grew up thinking I'd grow up to be a nurse. Good thing I got hung up in invertebrate zoology and diverted from science, or I might have killed some lil ol' lady by now with my casual attitude towards protocol.

Donna, my Betty hates to be combed. Fortunately, mats are rare. But when she gets them, I have to go after her (carefully) with scissors. This morning she was skittering around after poltergeists. I don't know what gets into her!
Veronica, who is fat and fluffy, rarely gets mats, even though she has the kind of heavy underfur that you'd expect to have trouble with. She likes to be combed, and I always get a pillow-full of hair, day after day.

It's a beautiful sunny day out there, though not as warm as it's been. I just might have to zip out a tad early.

WOOHOO!!! Alida! Big congrats on the sale

Ilse, I vote for 0130 or 0162; I think they both looked nice.

Well, girls...I have a slightly sore throat...aacckk. It may be allergies seeing as the cedar pollen is off the richter scale Also, with all the fires, the air has been *thick and somewhat smokey*, so maybe it's just a case of the allergies.
I feel kinda draggy today, so when I finish my afternoon cup of DCGT, I may just go sneak in a nap....a rareity for me.

Hope to cruise back in here a little later.
(((hugs to all)))

Alida, we're all thrilled with you. A few training sessions, and you're off to your new career. Hope you and Bob will have a celebratory event.

Shelley, you're not allowed to get sick. But if you do, the Convergence will converge upon you anyway with tons of TLC.

I put on my new YMCA t-shirt and took to the elliptical this afternoon. Turns out 30 minutes was a little ambitious for the first time on that machine. After 20 minutes, common sense took over, and I transferred to the treadmill. I'm going to love going to this gym. But you guessed that, didn't you? Even better, DH has cold shrimp, cool wine, and a fire in the fireplace waiting for me at home. Excuse me while I wind down into a weekend.
